Chapter 6 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

Money Lending and Other Sins VI-VII

Money Lending and Other Sins VI-VII are the final parts of the mission focused on recovering debt for Leopold Strauss. This mission, while being a story mission, is optional, and comes with no Gold Medal. To start the mission, talk with Strauss at the Beaver’s Hollow camp.

Strauss will send you to recover money from two different people. J.John Weathers and Arthur Londonderry.

J.John Weathers is a deserter from the Army located to the west of Beaver’s Hollow. Talk to him and then take care of the enemies that have come to attack him. There aren’t many, so you should be able to take care of them easily. The wagon will eventually go up in flames. After learning of the man’s pregnant wife, you will have the choice of absolving his debt: doing so will boost your current Honor rating.

Arthur Londonderry can be found near Annesburg. Or rather, the news of his demise, as the foreman tells Arthur. After talking with the foreman, head to the marked location on the map to talk with his widow: she’s obviously in a very bad situation and cannot pay the debt. Arthur will absolve the debt, and choosing to give her some money will increase his Honor rating.

At this point, Arthur has had enough of Strauss and debt collecting. Head back to camp to watch a cutscene where Arthur sends Strauss away and complete the mission. The cutscene will be slightly different, depending on your current Honor rating.

Just a Social Call

Just a Social Call is the fifth story mission in Chapter 6 and the 70th story mission in the story mode. The mission is unlocked after completing the Icarus and Friends and That’s Murfree Country missions. To begin the mission, talk with Micah in Annesburg.

Dutch has hatched a plan to make a deal with Leviticus Cornwall to let the gang go. In reality, the real plan is to kill him in plain sight, which will result in an extremely difficult firefight.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must complete it without taking any health item and reach the horses within 2 minutes and 45 seconds after killing Cornwall. The latter is extremely difficult to accomplish if you don’t know what you are doing.

After talking with Micah, follow his and Dutch’s direction until the gang leader kills Cornwall. At this point, you have to be extremely quick: a big firefight will ensue, but if you get behind cover for no reason, you will miss the time requirement. Incredibly enough, the best way to get back to your horses without getting damaged too much during this fight is to always be on the run and shoot enemies as you go. As distances between you and the enemies are not huge, we suggest you use the best shotgun you have to kill enemies in one or two shots: there’s no accuracy requirement for the Gold Medal, so you can go a bit trigger happy.

Chapter 6 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

During the sequence, Dutch and Micah will be quite helpful, as they will take down a lot of enemies as well. Also, be sure to keep attention to Dutch’s indications, as he will always point out from where new waves of Pinkertons are coming from. Once you reach the large structures, you will have to go behind cover more often, as running blindly at enemies will end up with you taking a lot of damage.

After entering and leaving the building you will get close to the mine cart tracks. Here, Dutch will tell you to shoot an oil wagon. Do so as quickly as possible then proceed ahead, killing any enemy that tries to get in your way. You will then be prompted to release the horses to escape: do this as quickly as possible to complete this section within the time requirement.

Now that you have reached your horses, it’s time to escape. To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must headshot three mounted enemies during the escape sequence. There are around 10 mounted enemies during the escape sequence, but you must be very quick, as Dutch and Micah will kill them rather quickly. For this reason, always keep an eye on the map to see where the enemies are coming from, and use Dead Eye to dispose of them before Dutch and Micah do.

Once you have taken care of the final mounted enemies, the mission will finally be complete.

A Rage Unleashed

A Rage Unleashed is the sixth story mission in Chapter 6 and the 71st story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. The mission is unlocked after completing the Just a Social Call mission. To begin the mission, speak with Reverend Swanson in Roanoke Ridge.

This mission sees the Van der Linde gang helping Eagle Flies and his tribe once more. After the starting cutscene, you will have to follow Eagle Flies to the edge of a channel and get on canoes. Wait for night to come to climb on a ship where members of his tribe have been made captive.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must knock out 2 soldiers on the boat. This is very simple to do, just approach the two soldiers from behind silently and then perform the stealth knockdown with no weapon equipped. After the first two guards have been taken out silently, you will have to deal with three more guards on the bow. You can kill them any way you want, so activate Dead Eye and go for headshots for the least amount of trouble.

Once this is done Dutch will tell you to release the anchor and Arthur will do so with dynamite. Things, however, don’t go well… obviously. Humans have no problem swimming, but the horses are panicked and you must round them up and lead them to the shore.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must round up the horses and reach the shore within one minute and 30 seconds. To do so, just get to one of the highlighted horses, mount it and then head to the shore, the other two will follow you automatically. The time limit is not strict at all, so you won’t have any problem clearing this requirement.

Once on the shore, the mission will be complete.

The Delights of Van Horn

The Delights of Van Horn is the seventh story mission in Chapter 6 and the 72nd story mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. This mission is unlocked after completing the Just a Social Call mission earlier in the chapter. To begin this mission, talk with Micah at Roanoke Ridge.

After talking with Micah, you will head, together with Bill Williamson, to ambush a wagon train. Bill will serve as a distraction while you cover him from a distance with the sniper rifle. Once the convoy stops thanks to Bill, it’s time to get shooting.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must headshot five soldiers with a long scoped rifle and complete the mission with at least 85% accuracy. As soon as the firefight starts, enter Dead Eye and try getting as many headshots as possible, which shouldn’t be too difficult considering you are using a scoped rifle. Once you have killed enough enemies, the survivors will try to make an escape. Kill all of them and then follow the instructions to get on the wagon and drive it away.

Chapter 6 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

During this sequence, you will be followed by several riders. As you need to keep accuracy high for the Gold Medal, always use Dead Eye. When the bar has been depleted, restore it with any tonic. Don’t let the wagon get damaged too much, otherwise it will explode and you will have to restart from the checkpoint, which will prevent you from getting the Gold Medal for the current mission playthrough.

Once you reach Micah, the mission will be complete.

Goodbye, Dear Friend

Goodbye, Dear Friend is the eight story mission in Chapter 6 and the 73rd story mission in the story mode. This mission is unlocked after completing the A Rage Unleashed mission earlier in the chapter. To begin the mission, speak with Sadie Adler in Saint Denis.

Sadie and Dutch are celebrating the imminent death of Colm O’ Driscoll and want to make sure that the execution proceeds as planned. Arthur will join them in making sure that the outlaw gets what is due.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must skip all cutscenes as you must complete it within six minutes and 30 seconds, which is very difficult to do if you watch all of the cutscenes.

As soon as you regain control of Arthur, follow Sadie and Dutch and skip the cutscene upon reaching the gallows. As expected, there are O’Driscolls nearby, and Dutch and Arthur will have to stop them. Follow Dutch to learn more about Colm’s back up.

Chapter 6 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must find Colm’s back up within 45 seconds. To meet this requirement, head as quickly as you can pass the fountain to the archway, then go the left on the stairs. Head out on the balcony, then up the ladder. Here, you will notice the sniper: take care of him as quickly as possible, pick his rifle up and get in position.

After getting into position, wait for the first cinematic to end and then skip the following one. Once Sadie start shooting, it’s your turn to get into the fight.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you must get eight headshots with a long scoped rifle. To meet this requirement, you must be very quick, as Sadie and Dutch are particularly deadly here and will kill most of the enemies if you wait too long.

Once all enemies have been killed, skip the cutscene. At this point, the mission will be complete.

Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow

Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow is an optional Honor mission in Chapter 6. Despite being an optional mission, it comes with a Gold Medal. Completing the mission is also required to get the Lending a Hand trophy. The mission is unlocked after completing the Goodbye, Dear Friend mission. To start the mission, talk with Sadie at the Beaver Hollow Camp.

Colm O’Driscoll is dead, but the man who killed Sadie’s husband is not, so the woman is resolved in finding this man and kill him. After talking with her, you can ride with her or by yourself. Choose the first option to save some time, as you must complete the mission within 5 minutes and 30 seconds to get the Gold Medal. Also, make sure to skip all cutscenes.

After reaching Hanging Dog Ranch, a shootout will begin almost immediately. Continue taking down enemies until you notice a sniper taking position on the roof of the barn. Use a scoped rifle and kill him with a headshot to clear another requirement for this mission’s Gold Medal.

Once all enemies have been killed, Sadie and Arthur will split up to find the man they are looking for. Arthur will check the barn, but be extra careful when doing so, as there are a couple of enemies hiding inside the barn. You must check it without getting damaged to get the Gold Medal for this mission.

After you are done with the barn, check back on Sadie inside the house. Here, a cutscene will play where she finally avenges her husband. Skip it to complete the mission within the time requirement.

Ever since the original Red Dead Redemption was released back in 2010 and swiftly completed by Matt he has been eagerly anticipating another return to the Wild West. In Matt's totally non-biased opinion the story told in the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, is one of the best ever (at least as far as games go). And while some story DLC would be great, Matt isn't counting on it!
