Red Dead Redemption 2 Mexico Mod Nuevo Paraiso Gets a September 16 Release Date

The fan-made Red Dead Redemption 2 expansion Nuevo Paraiso: The Forgotten Frontier launches free on PC on September 16, rebuilding Mexico for the 1907 setting and adding a playable Sadie Adler story Rockstar never made.

Nuevo Paraiso: The Forgotten Frontier, the fan-made mod that rebuilds Mexico for Red Dead Redemption 2, was announced for September 16. Its Nexus Mods listing records the first upload on September 17, 2026. It is now available for PC players to download.

Mexico, or Nuevo Paraiso, was a whole chunk of the original Red Dead Redemption back in 2010. The landmass still technically exists inside Red Dead Redemption 2, and dataminers turned up leftover Mexico assets in the game files years ago, but Rockstar Games never finished it.

Modder Rixus724 and the Mexico Team spent years rebuilding the region for Red Dead Redemption 2’s 1907 setting, the epilogue era, rather than dropping in the original game’s 1911 version wholesale.

In practice, that means the towns, the lighting, and the tone are tuned to match the base game, so the whole thing feels like it was actually part of the game, which it technically is, rather than something modders bolted onto it.

The original announcement also described a playable story led by Sadie Adler. If you finished Red Dead Redemption 2, you know Sadie talks about heading off to South America, and the mod picks up that loose thread, routing her through a Mexico teetering on the edge of the 1911 revolution. The modders are, in other words, writing the epilogue Rockstar left dangling.

It is odd, though, that this is a fan project at all. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the fourth best-selling game of all time, north of 79 million copies, and it never got a single scrap of official single-player DLC.

Rockstar shipped it, funneled its post-launch energy into the online mode, and moved on toward Grand Theft Auto VI. So the people finishing Rockstar’s map and continuing its characters are unpaid fans working for free.

There is still one uncertainty hanging over the project. Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive have taken action against certain mods and fan projects in the past, particularly where their own content or intellectual property is being recreated. That does not necessarily mean Nuevo Paraiso will face the same fate, but a project this ambitious and polished is inevitably going to attract attention. The mod is now listed on Nexus Mods, although the long-term availability of unofficial projects can change.

The publisher’s listing identifies Lenny’s Mod Loader and Script Hook RDR2 as installation requirements. Check that page for the current files and compatibility notes before installing; a PC copy of the game alone is not enough.

For players staying with the base game, there is always chasing 100 percent completion in the base game, or revisiting why co-founder Dan Houser rates it above everything else the studio ever made and says it would hurt to see a Red Dead Redemption 3 built without him.

For PC players willing to install the required tools, the mod offers a way to explore the Mexico region that Rockstar left unfinished in Red Dead Redemption 2.
