With the new year having rolled in all hopes of Rockstar releasing more info as some kind of holiday present have been dashed. Alas, we're left with no new details about the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2, with many months to go before Autumn. Nonetheless, the game is a hot topic among fans, who are speculating without rest about what kinds of features or plot elements the game might have.

One of the most discussed topics regards the characters of the game and how many of them will be familiar faces. Since it's pretty much a guarantee that RDR2 will be a prequel to 2010's Red Dead Redemption, and there is a decent chance that it will have three playable protagonists much like GTA 5, a plausible and common theory has sprung up.
A piece of promotional art for Red Dead Redemption 2 shows a group of 7 outlaws. While the image isn't too detailed and the art style makes identifying the individuals difficult, many have seemingly recognized John Marston and Dutch among them. This leads to the conclusion that we're very likely looking at an iteration of Dutch's gang from before RDR, when they had more members.
At it appears in Red Dead Redemption, Dutch's gang has five members: Dutch, John, Javier Escuela, Bill Williamson and Abigail. If we assume Dutch, John, Javier and Bill appear in the promotional art, that leaves three newcomers - who might very well be the three protagonists. While Abigail traveled with the gang, she didn't actually partake in the bank robberies and other outlaw activities.
As such, we can expect to see all of Dutch's gang again, however this time around, they won't be antagonists. Chances are the three protagonists would end up leaving the gang at some point in the story, seeing as they aren't even mentioned in RDR.
Which characters do you hope to see return in Red Dead Redemption 2?
