So who here is getting the PC version of the game?
C.D.Mortimer replied to KVNknowsbest's topic in Red Dead Online
Hahaha, well that is a bit of an understatement, about handling the graphics! I know you mean well and I can see you didn't really bother to learn what the exact problems is (which is fine)! But there is another topic, where it was all explained what was the matter called "Rdr2 graphics blurry PS4 Pro" and many many people expressed there unbelief about the Playstation version of the game! So there is no real arguing, more a shared disbelief of how Sony could let a version like this go into production! A bit of the Wwe2k20 story, which is a real bad game, that never should have been released in that state! If people want to buy an game that is in fact truly badly implemented, then that is there business, but there are always people that look further then there noise and do notice things! That is fine too, but I see recently that some gullible people are getting angry at observing people, who do say something is wrong and with good reason and then start to flame about that! I had an discussion with some dude about Wwe2k20 on youtube and he found me a crybaby because he was such a fanboy himself! Dispite all the recent news that the game is bad and people want there money back! Anyway, I always try to base my opinion on the facts and never on a brand or gaming console preferences and/or fanboy favoritism! And I never confuse negativity or bitterness with the truth and reality! Those who do buy the PC version of RDR2, will get a nice experience, but not one without a huge performance hit and settings tuning! -

I am not trying to convince anybody here either and even if we would have, many have there mind set based on simple a brand! Me personally, I wouldn't base my judgement on what friends have because I never buy any plus/gold network stuff, simply because I don't think it is worth the money, nor do I need it! Concerning being bitter, nobody wants to get cheated with false statements because everybody wants to win the console war! So because Sony advertised there machine being 4K (to try to win the console war), it backfired with RDR2! And the realist I am, I found it extremely funny that some fanboys where shut up by facts! There is nothing more satisfying, then to prove your point by the passing of time. π Thank you for the compliment of being versed, but I don't know yet what I will do for sure! I didn't make up my mind yet because nothing is for sure yet. I was only trying to give some information into the consoles and what I heard until now! But I am sure the consoles will be much more equal then those in the past and you can't really go wrong either way! It will be great times coming for all of us!π -

Alright, that's good enough reason for you, which is for many people that want PS4 compatibility as a selling point! Speaking of specs, RDR2 for the PC doesn't even support ray tracing! I am expecting they will create this especially for the upcoming consoles, as a sort of selling point! But again that is speculation again. But i am almost sure they won't fix the PS4 Pro version anymore, since they have other better priorities! People also speculated that the PS4 Pro version would be the version to go to since they used it to show the trailer! Al those PS4 fanboys where laughing at the Xbox One X fanboys, that said they would get 4K textures! Now it has shut them up and the truth has proven them wrong! -

You know, with the upcoming next gen consoles a lot will change in terms of compatibility and remakes! The current situation is that Microsoft didn't charge extra for any improvements in games (such as Red Dead Redemption 1 on the Xbox One) and Sony did in selling a games again (like The last of Us remastered)! I don't expect Sony to support PS1/2/3 games because they rather want to sell you an improved version once again! But we will see next year how things will turn out! For sure I will wait and see before investing again! It is strange because I have the same games on my PS4 Pro as my Xbox One X. I bought them second hand and I find all the Xbox One X versions to either play smoother or look better, or in some cases do both! Also (as you might have noticed), the PS4 Pro/RDR2 mess have put me off the playstation platform! I was a Playstation fan, but that changed since I bought the Xbox. I agree, those special kind of games you should really want and should play on a PC. I find console shooters more for the kind of people that want more of an arcade kind of experience, like you said run, gun and twitch and spin! I used to play them back in the days on my PC (1997 - 2015), but when you get older you want games that don't need a split second reaction, otherwise you are dead! From the moment I started with PC's, hardware and building them, I played those kinds of games (from 1997)! But now I only play console games like Batman, RDD, Bully, GTA4/5 etc. I am like you said also a "former pc gamer". I have exactly the same thing, I hate the update/upgrading of components, to get certain (gadget like) things like ray tracing etc! And I also like to plop on a chair and then start playing either my PS4 Pro or Xbox One X! I really would like a new TV though, to get even better quality on those consoles, such as the new expensive LG C9. That TV (HDMI 2.1) will be very desirable with the new upcoming consoles! Although next year the C10 will probably make it's introduction! Speaking of the new consoles, I read so much talk about it. Downtalking by fanboys of the other brands and over-hyping talk that one console will be the fastest, so it is hard to believe anything at this point! Personally, I did read somewhere that the Scarlett will have a newer (newest) gen socket/cpu that will support hardware ray tracing, in which the PS5 would supposedly would not have, only software ray tracing! The PS5 would have the current gen AMD Soc and the Scarlett the upcoming gen Soc Amd cpu. How far this is true, I have no clue and it is all speculation, but I find it interesting. And it is the only thing I can find up to now what the real changes will be! Things can change, like they did with the Xbox One and PS4. In the past a console would be made and that would be it, but now they improve on there consoles to better the competition! So what is faster one point in time, could change later down the road! Also, I read something about the SSD on the scarlett will be a special next gen, in terms of that it will be even faster then the current SSD and in this case the SSD in the PS5. Also, they talked about a virtual drive/swap space the scarlett will use, that will be used to improve performance and loading, due to the new special SSD would be used for swapfile! Which is interesting and I thought, why did they never used this before, like they could have used SSD's also much more early! I have an SSHD in my PS3 and I noticed the difference a lot back then! In the past I always used a fast separate HD for my swapfile on the pc (more then 10 years ago)! Marketing is strange in that sense because the SSD is nothing new at all and so is virtual swap drive! It is hard to check these facts, especially if someone says "the PS5 will be the most powerful console", because it would probably be a strategie from a designer to calm things down for the other brand! -

I agree with you and everybody has there opinion, but I think the wisest thing to do is wait for the next Gen consoles, since they will play like a true PC and you don't have to buy the game again! π I still have my PS4 copy sealed (ultimate edition) and will wait with what I will do next year! Personally, what I read and hear everywhere I think it will be the Scarlett for me, since I really like playing older games (Batman Arkham Origins/Bully/GTA4) on a big 4k screen upscaled and with much better graphics! -
So who here is getting the PC version of the game?
C.D.Mortimer replied to KVNknowsbest's topic in Red Dead Online
You know, I think it was Kean_1 that said somewhere in a thread (can't remember which sorry), you have to judge for yourself if it is worth it to buy it (again) on the PC! Personally, I couldn't care less about the PC version, simply because you have to spend so much money for a new PC in order to get it to run equal or better then the Xbox One X version (which is the best console version at this time I write this)! A Nvidia RTX 2080 TI GPU, which is the fastest and most expensive (between 1200 and 1400 euro in my country) videocard, has difficulties running the game on 4K @ 60 fps with all details set to max! I read it everywhere and also here: https://wccftech.com/game-ready-driver-for-rdr2-out-now-rtx-2080ti-can-only-do-4k60-with-a-mix-of-medium-high-settings/ Now, the only reason for me to play a game on a PC is that it would play a lot better or give a heck more details then a console version! And since it will cost you so much money to get a better experience to play this game on the PC, I would say no thanks! I was right thought, this PC version will be the upcoming version the Xbox Scarlett and PS5 will get with some improvements and/or digital extras! I don't have a new PC, so I could not play the game anywhere near the level of the Xbox One X and I am not willing to pay a "fistful of dollars" or "a view dollars more" to get another lacking experience from those Rockstar money wolfs! And with lacking experience I mean the PS4 Pro game and it's terrible support on it! And now I come to my point of which I also take in consideration and that is you have to buy the game again! That is a sneaky strategy that Rockstar did for many years and which I also fell for in the past! They sell you a console game and then they hope you will buy it again for the PC. With some minor improvements and perks etc they want to sucker you into buying it again. Now this is my personal opinion and I am aware people have been waiting for a PC release. Even though it will get improved with patches and Nvidia driver updates, you still need a major beast of an expensive PC to surpass the Xbox One X version! Now I come to my last point, which is in 1 year the Xbox Scarlett and PS5 will be released and if you already own a copy of the game, you can play it on those consoles! And I am sure you will be able to play the game on the same level of the PC and without having to spend so much money on it! For one RTX 2080 TI price alone, you can buy one Xbox Scarlett and one PS5 for that amount! And it wouldn't cost you extra money to buy the game again! Also you can enjoy it from your living room on a big screen, instead of having to invest additional money into a separate version and it's additional hardware, not to mention a 4K HDR screen which is worth buying! So for me, I would say leave the PC version and wait next year for the Next Gen consoles, which will play the game on a better detail and performance level then the PC version and also for a lot less money! -
You know, it sounds to me that they are already (very sneaky and deceiving) paving the way for the PS5 version of the game! I don't believe or expect them to fix the game for the current gen Playstation, since they didn't bother to do so in the last year! Since it is already been an year now and they didn't act on the knowledge they knew and heard from the start of the release of the game from us customers, I don't expect they will now! They didn't have any benefit to do so, nor do they now since the real issue is the lack of power of the PS4 Pro! That is what caused this disaster of the upscale 4k madness! With a little more then a year of time until the new gen console arrive, they will probably make some remark or notification to you that you will be able to play RDR2 on the PS5 and that all the graphics problems will be gone! They want to sell more to you, not less so this RDR2 problem they will exploit, to sell you there new console, since the PS5 is fully capable of running the game natively and with good framerate and that will eliminate all there up scaling mistakes! I tried to be realistic about this and that is why I would not get your false hopes for the PS4 Pro, since the real issues comes from the lack of power of the Sony console too run native 4K! Since Sony advertised the game as being "4K", they had to do something and that backfired in a major way! If the Sony console could have run the game like the Xbox One X does, which is without any issues and native 4K, then they would not have had there upscaling problems in the first place! So in the end I think it will come down to a new console/purchase for Sony fanboys, if they really want to experience the game like Xbox users do! I am very happy I bought myself an Xbox and now enjoy the game as it should be, which is native 4K without any "customer deceiving" upscaling tricks that backfired with graphics blur! In fact they made it worse with each patch, which is totally unforgetable! No, trust me they are working on the PS5 version of the game, not the "soon to be obsolete" PS4 Pro! Which is the same as if you buy an car with lack of engine power and you complain to them and they don't officially acknowledge it and come up with terrible workarounds and excuses! Then after an year they say they are now aware of problem (since they already where since the beginning) and come with there "solution", which comes down to "buy yourself the new model car". Since it is stronger and you won't have the issues anymore the old model had! Just think about it!
-
Well.........................for me it has been an (expensive) work around because I bought a XB1X (Gold rush edition) and I already bought the Special Edition of RDR2 and I also bought the special Club3D HDMI 2.1 cable (2 meter) and I already had a Afterglow Prismatic Xbox One cable controller (with led colors). And so RDR2 runs silky smooth and without any delay/latency and crystal clear on my LG 49SJ810V (49 inch) LED 4K screen! Very impressive game and I have to get use to some things as a RDR1 vivid gamer! This personal information (I just gave), has nothing to do with the topic, I know! But buying a PS5 at the end of 2020, for the final fix of Rockstar for Sony's mess (because it wants to get more profit), isn't something we should consider doing anymore!π

Red Dead Redemption 2 HDR Fix: Not Perfect, But A Step in Right Direction
-
I agree with your statement and i should have said Rockstar instead of Sony! That is a typo and my bad.π Sorry for the misunderstanding! And welcome to the forum and your very tactful way of telling me. π
-
Kean, that wasn't my intention to talk over others! I am sorry!π
-
The new update for HDR doesn't really work, it is sort of a workaround for some issues but not all! Still not truely fixed, even though Rockstar acts like it is and many of the sites! Here you can read all about it: the-red-dead-redemption-2-hdr-fix-is-here-but-it-doesnt-really-work It still seems to look blurry and a mess! So don't get fails hopes with the latest PS4 Pro patch! Now on the Xbox One X version, it seems to improve quiet a lot with the new HDR implimentation, but that is because of True 4K! But this topic isn't about the Xbox version, but all I am saying is this is truly a Sony curse!π Try to make true HDR Sony, Just try!

πThe 'Red Dead Redemption 2' HDR Fix Is Here - But It Doesn't Really Workπ Shame on Rockstar!!!

Red Dead Redemption 2 Graphics Possibly Downgraded
C.D.Mortimer replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
In regards to the PS4Pro version of the game and all of it's trouble, bad support and other bad programming decisions, I would like to refer to my post on the rdr2-graphics-blurry-ps4-pro thread And I made no joke or any falls statement there and I am still looking for the XOX console for a reasonable price! The special edition for the Xbox I already purchased second hand (new) from a second hand site! -
I am afraid to say, but I given up on the ps4 pro version for good! I think I will look for a cheap xbox one x somewhere and sell my rdr2 ultimate edition for the ps4 and get it for the XBX because that version doesn't seem to be effected at all! Rockstar lied, Sony lied and they are making it worse and worse with each patch, so as far as I am concerned the biggest sell out and overhyped badly programmed product of Rockstar to date is RDR2 and very badly supported as well! The real difference between the PS4 Pro and a XBX is that the XBX can really do 4K (as intended or not) and not some lame ass up scale checkboard lie technique, that makes things even worse and screws good paying customers out of having the rightful experience they deserve! I know there are some games that look stunning (while using this technique), but eventually with a game like RDR2 it starts to catch up with them! You know.........you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time! And I think this saying (which I heard a long time ago) applies 100% to Sony/Rockstar! I know the XBX is newer and therefore better in terms of raw power, BUT Sony should have went along hardware wise, but they didn't. And you know why? Because they smartly thought, the stupid good willing gullible customers keep buying the PS4 pro anyway, so who needs to invest in better hardware (that can match with Xbox new project)! And now at the end of the circle of both consoles it bites them in the ass, but you think Sony or Rockstar care? They had there money and there sales (millions and millions) and they used a lie to cover up another lie (fake 4K) and bad HDR and amateur programming and bad arrogant decisions! Then technical support keeps a lid on any faults and acts like nothing is wrong and in the mean time all reviewers get payed to say the game is the game of the year! It is well worth there trouble because they gotten exactly what they wanted, which is mega sales and great reviews and in the mean time customers who pay attention and complain are left in the dark and won't get a response or some vague stupid solutions that only involves your own TV settings! The damage has been done and there is no turning back the clock or numbers, so doing a boycott on the console or game has been much to late in order to have any 1% impact! Reviewers didn't pay attention or didn't really care or got payed themselves to make this screwed up worse product in the history of Rockstar a gods wonder! To bad there are so many Sony fanboys out there, which are so freaking blind of the truth they will stand in line for hours to buy a new PS5 for sure in the future! I remember reading forums where PS4 users laughed at Xbox one X users, for them thinking they will get true 4K textures! Many said Sony has a partnership with Rockstar so that is the leading console to go for and I believed that myself up to the point I read about all the technical troubles! Rockstar messed up, Sony messed up and they even did a worse job of supporting this terrible mess of programming! Well I can truly say now that I reached my boiling point and I am so happy RDR2 didn't win the GOTY award and God of War did. I haven't played GOW, but it can't be such a customer screwjob as RDR2 did! Despite some good things RDR2 has, they didn't deserve GOTY at all, especially after what they did with the PS4 pro version! A partnership of Sony/Rockstar my ass and I am generally positive about Sony, but they really disappointed so many people and that is in my view more important then those gullible people that buy and play Sony games like slaves because they are such huge fan of the company! A fix will eventually come for Sony in the form of the PS5, but that is only due until somewhere in 2021 and a new Xbox will probably come in 2020, so I am not going to wait for some money luring excuse console, with a very needed remastered solution and commitment on having to buy a much too expensive new console! I want worth for my money now, not in the future! There is a saying that goes, if you want to have a better future, then start today/now! Screw Sony and Rockstar and there superior art of conning and deceiving! I want a good RDR2 experience and if I have to go to the competition to do so, I will! Rockstar will still get sale then, but not for the full amount. On a second hand site in my country everybody sells the game and can't get rid of it because nobody wants it! Many gamers feel the speed of the game is to slow and I don't agree on that, I like my games slower! Despite that, on the note of everything I said above about the game, I know the game is the most over-hyped game of all times and not as great as many think it is! Online is very bad and will need to do so much to get over it's bad reputation, that I think it will never reach the success that GTA online got! The so called support guy of Rockstar here on this forum has been silent for so long now and has long given up for a long time (if he indeed was from Rockstar)! But then again, how can one person make up for a mess the company made in terms of bad decisions and program work! And I know there are one or two people here on this forum, who read this and laugh and find it so funny we are getting so upset and angry about how we have been lurded into buying this abomination of a game which truly is the "BAD BUY" of the year! I read some guy here many pages back, saying he finds it so funny we are beating a dead horse! I would like to beat him to death with an PS4 Pro myself!π€¬π€¬π€¬
