I agree, PC is now somewhere it was never intended to be. However, like with the days of Grid, fantastic award winning game which did not finacially reflect expected paydays so they tried everything to turn it around but it never happened.

I can remember something about devs waiting for gfx card makers to catch up and vice versa. Then there was memory and bandwidth availability. It is very easy for ambition to trip over development and availability states. Many brilliant ideas have had to pare down ambition to fit reality but our friend, EjectedCasings, is right about one thing . . . it is only my opinion, or rather, educated opinion. No idea if for the very high price there will be a payout based on success like we got for the first Project Cars? Also, Founder member of Warframe which is a highly successful game which over seven years has taken over £1000 from me. This is a free game with no online costs so I feel that periodical contributions is the way forward for these games with those who have little money getting the benefit of the whole procedure thanks to those who can afford it. The idea of Star Citizen has always been appealing but over the years I have read some detailed reports from people who love the concept but still feel that the science has some way to go to catch up. It wasn't just the science but also the economics. The idea of Star Citizen will easily play on one of my computers but for the majority it will not play at the very high settings required to fully appreciate the game for most players on PC. I have heard all of this about Star Citizen years ago and it will probably be exactly the same for years to come. Either that or as many predict; too expensive to buy, to run online, and needing top end computing only.

Hahahaha . . . reminds me of buying 'penny' shares around the turn of the century. Lovely concept but it's not yet it's time . . . too big, too ambitious. It has tried for so long to realise its potential . . . and failed.

Bingo! Still haven't a clue what happened - nor do Rockstar - but the poker is back for me . . .happy days

Now, when I approach a poker table in RDR2 Online for PC I get this message: "This feature is not available now. Please come back later." I have twice reinstalled my game taking 20 hours each time for a clean install but no joy. Ran " verify files " four times. Earlier, I was in the saloon in Blackwater and another human player came in and was walking around the table for about five minutes before leaving. It was obvious that he, too, couldn't join the game. I have been chatting with Rockstar support but all I get from them is fobbed off as it's obvious they haven't a clue. So, anyone else with this problem? any suggestions?
-
Ah! thanks, I hadn't checked out the rest of the site. I'll take your advice.
-
Just stood in the Blackwater saloon as two other human players came in and could only walk around the poker table. Rockstar are only making excuses in their replies but with the falloff of human players in the towns it is obvious that the poker table is broken for the PC players.
-
Well, RDR2 wasn't ported to PC hence the best version of the game and that is what I had been waiting for as my rig can max out the game and it certainly is possibly the best looking game available today.
-
Thanks for your input. I verified all files which triggered some other updates but no joy so am reinstalling again. Sometimes it's just some program lines which need straightening, so to speak, so after verifying another install might do it? Been around computers long enough to know that these things are usually something stupid and I'm sure the big W10 patch is behind this problem.

I got a response which opened with: " We understand your concern that you are unable to play Casino games in GTAO ". Duh, it was sent to RDR2 support and had that heading plastered across the top of the page, so, like I said.
-
GTA V, sorted. MS update caused the problem. Sending a ticket to Rockstar is a waste of time as it is all computerized. They don't do support tickets like other companies where a real person responds.

Maybe it is just for PC. Eveything else in the game is working just fine so it is a bit of a mystery. In TDU2 Casino I was world number one in the cash game for the first about 18 months to two years and then the cheats cracked it so I left. I do well in RDR2 poker but Rockstar have very sensibly made it limited Hold'em with the balance about right where money is concerned but when you know what you are doing it isn't too hard to take advantage of those not educated in poker play. So, if you frequently don't play every hand but tend to get winners when you do make a move and quickly have a large stack in front of you maybe someone has reported me as a cheat and Rockstar have blocked me. After all they do tend to prefer quick radical measures over fairness. Not only don't I cheat but wouldn't know, nor care to know, how to cheat in any game . . . what's the point in gaming if you cheat? I can only imagine that for so many losers even the delusion of an undeserved leading position will do over achieving nothing. I've sorted getting online in GTA V but problem still there in Poker. The problems started after the last big W10 patch so went into msconfig/services and disabled MS services and I was back online in GTA V. I put it down to the update causing some sort of conflict. The problem is/was connected to the Rockstar game library service but I can't figure out exactly what.

Which country would that be? if I may be so bold.

There is a small clock icon over the places where poker can be played and I did wonder if it represented some sort of work being done on the feature?
-
When I go to the map and click on any place which has poker the poker icon comes up. When I go close to the table I get this message: " This feature is not available now. Please come back later." Are you able to play poker?

Finally found an online video where some guy has explained some details which make sense. He was having all the problems I was having and only by repeatedly trying finally got online in GTA V. But as he pointed out it was pointless because he also got a lot of warnings that because of server problems nothing would be saved. I don't mind problems as we are talking about electronics and the Internet but what shits Rockstar are when they tell us nothing and keep chasing every way to get our money. I spent £45 on gold in RDR2 PC because I wanted the benefits of the latest big update and now one of the favourite parts for me - poker - is not available and as usual we get told nothing. Something I forgot to say. This guy who gave a good explanation mentioned a 'money wipe' could be the reason for GTA V problems as some glitch was handing out millions of dollars. I had been searching Google for an answer to the problem and came across a guy called; Brandon Playz, who had a video up for how to play solo online. It was obvious that this sniffing and twitching - voice was erratic - youth spends his rime searching for, and with videos exploiting, glitches. It beggars belief just how casual so many people are about cheating and causing all this inconvenience for those who play legit. But then, social media has taken the mist from the eyes for virtually everyone so nothing surprises me when it comes to what humankind really are. . . . and Zuckerberg wants us to believe that it was all about bringing people together as if that was something good for the people? yeah, sure, good for hs pocket and nothing else. Still asking: "Does anyone know why the poker is down in RDR2 Online?"
-
Yes, had a problem posting and then couldn't find a delete post button so thnx. I live in Cornwall, England so no problems with gambling laws. I don't know what is going on with Rockstar as for the first time I cannot get online with GTA V and now the poker is down in RDR2. Edit: Checked the Firewall and everything there is just as it should be with a clearway for both GTA V and RDR2 so it doesn't make sense that I cannot get into GTA V Online unless there is something wrong their end so as they have no human interface which I can contact I'm stuffed. I don't need to go down the usual route of telling them to go stuff themselves and I'll not be buying anymore of their games as they have stuffed me.

Poker is unavailable or is this just on my computer?

Thanks for the reply but that site is devoid of humans. Rockstar have what I see as a callous attitude towards us players as they refuse to see direct communication as an important part of the whole process. I can understand them taking away text from RDR2 but that doesn't make it the correct way forward as the removal of communication in the way they have done it has not made it an online game but more of a single player game played online. Having voice chat doesn't cut it either as no-one uses it like they did in TDU2 where we would run in and out of groups of players and all chatting to one another . . . in RDR2 they take you for an idiot if you start chatting. Oh how times have changed, now there isn't even text so next must be no communication whatsoever? Without wishing to get too philosophical I blame social media sites - of which I belong to none and never will - which have promoted the ugly nature of humankind leading to Rockstar deciding that the only way to deal with people is to keep them away from being able to communicate, and in that they have it right. . . but is it their decision to make?

I know this is off topic but when it comes to trying to sort something out with Rockstar it's like banging your head against a rock. I preordered RDR2 for PC and the game has taken up virtually all of my gaming time. About a week ago I decided to revisit GTA V only to find that I couldn't get online but was put back to the single player game. I got all the usual excuses: activation taking longer . . .etc., etc. Googled and tried all suggestions. Reinstalled game. Nothing works. It is impossible to get past Rockstar's non-human support desk to an actual live person. Can anyone please help?

Thank you for the reply. I'm always being told that they do not have a site yet so many sites give the impression that they are in some way affiliated so I keep trying. I can understand a company not wishing to have a forum but actually not having one is one big cheat where they want all the benefits with none of the pain of making their money in the gaming world. They have ruined the brass rimmed glasses and these glasses gave a very good authentic look to how certain characters are created. Now that they are completely opaque what is the point of them? what kind of thought process would choose to turn the wearer into a blind man? They have also managed to ruin the monocle by making it look like the wearer has half a boiled egg stuck in a frame.
-
Not sure how to get a message to Rockstar but why the hell have they taken the clear lenses out of the brass rimmed glasses and replaced them with ridiculous opaque ones? The previous ones were so much of the time and now they just look like a joke. As usual for me their forum site seems to be so bugged or whatever I can never get on there to put the question. Anyway, would appreciate some clarification from someone here.

I'm with you, the new update is a joke. Those who have to complete everything will do it whether they enjoy it or not. Good luck to them. I already have the four best horses in the game. none of which are carthorses which are for carts or carrying knights with all their armour. I was already enjoying the game enough so a failed filler doesn't matter to me. With me an action is all about purpose and crazily grinding out an impossible chase trying to shoot a thousand tranqs. into a seemingly invulnerable animal has little fun/purpose value. For those concerned about nerfing and buffing, I'm not, I just take what comes and get on with it because why give yourself ulcers when every game is constantly being altered.

This new addition is too broken to waste time on and, unfortunately, the whole game is having server problems with too many games being ruined at a crucial time. Another case of rushing something out before being properly tested or maybe that was the idea, use us to find the faults. Well, I'm not going to even start listing them as they are too numerous. It's Rockstar so nothing surprises me, that's the price we pay for ambition, so be it. The new addition can sit there until it is fixed, or not, and Warframe very, very rarely has server problems . . . as good as RDR2 is it's still only another game and we gamers always have a fair choice.

I didn't know there was an auto aim. Had I known I wouldn't have wasted so many shots trying to hit the Elk but even then I counted 46 shots on target before the timer ran out. On a couple of occasions the Elk stood still and I got 5-6 shots into him and it did diddly squat. This joke has to be fixed. My poor old horse took five drops off of a cliff in the chase process and all of it in a blizzard. Where the hell is the fun in that? I'm going to go in again and as soon as I see the Elk put a bullet behind its ear and take the carcase to Gus.
