Well it's official. Chicks treasure does not exist on my game. I have the treasure map and concluded the debt collector mission. I took a break from this quest and did other missions and side quests and have died/closed the game numerous times since. There is no option to search the tree for me. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact I killed chick. This sucks. I will never be able to complete this quest and finish my explorer challenges, and too far along in the game to restart *sigh

I feel you man. But if you have ever hunted in real life you know it's actually quite difficult. You don't always hit your target clean and sometimes wounded animals survive and get away. The game does an alright job at replicating this. Also dead eye is your friend. You have a much better chance at one shot killing your target if you hit critical points (highlighted by red on your target). Also, hunting becomes much easier when you unlock manual dead eye on my opinion.

No worries man. Thanks anyway. Yeah I've tried everything including dying, restarting the game. I guess it's just broken for me. I am surprised with how many issues people aren't already having with this game. I thought the whole reason they kept delaying it was to iron out issues like this. Sucks that such an integral part of the story is not working for me

I thought checkpoints were only for missions. Do I need to initiate a mission first somewhere? Am I missing something. I already got the map from chick and I though that's all I had to do

No. I am standing at the hole and there is no option to do anything but rest. I am literally looking at the hole right now.

So I have managed to find the tree where the treasure is located their is absolutely no option to search the tree, just to rest. Is anyone else having this issue? What am I doing wrong?
