I'm taking a break from RDR2 and browsing. I have been wanting to buy a camera for some time but I have no clue what is considered good or bad anything. I don't want anything fancy. I like taking pictures of the animals and insects we get around here. Looking to spend like $400 to $600. Brands don't matter.

Aren't Cannon lenses not as good as some of the other ones on the market though? I know I have read that a number of times. For the record, I really don't know anything about cameras. I just use some Sony something or other point and shoot camera once in a while, I mostly take pics with my phone.

You can always change lenses to whatever you would like. If you need a wide angle lens, so be it!
