khajiit1 Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Whoa, Italian gaming news sites now reporting the severe blurring: https://game-experience.it/red-dead-redemption-2-gli-utenti-segnalano-dei-problemi-di-blur-per-la-versione-ps4-pro/ 1

Theolaitdoux Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 watching the gameplay trailer in 4k on youtube I noticed that the blur was not present at all while it is apparently images from the pro version, I also noticed that the view used in the trailers was the 2nd sight just the one after the FPS view off I just tested on my tv 4k on ps4 pro and this is certainly the most blurred view of all. FPS and 3rd sight remain the best to mitigate the blur. I will also take screenshots during precise gameplay scenarios exactly with the same weather and compare between the game ps4 pro now released for a week and the famous trailers all beautiful without blur. 2
Jstack2nd Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I'm playing the game on ps4 pro on a pc monitor that has no hdr and I'm still experiencing blurring issues. I'm honestly ok with the blurry stuff in the background (the game still looks amazing) it's when I turn the camera that it gets bad. The heavy blur is disorienting with the cb rendering frame artifacts and crushes the beautiful visuals of the game. Enemies and animals are hard to see when panning camera. I hope they can improve the checkerboarding for nicer detail but if that's too much to ask maybe motion blur options would help.

I have the standard PS4 and everything looks great. Sorry 😔 Hopefully Rockstar comes out with an update soon!
gamingcllz Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Whats upsetting to me about it all is that I have a PS4 pro which was said to look better than the base PS4. Younger brother and I played the game in the same room but he was on the base PS4 and I on the pro with a 4k tv. My first and only complaint about the game was, "The game is great, I guess the only thing I would say is that it looks pretty blurry for some reason, right?" as I turn to see my brother playing and enjoying the better clarity on his 1080p screen. Immediately taking to the internet to see if I was crazy. I hope they give us the acknowledgement we deserve.
Llanrog Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 So, i got the generic response from Rockstar, change HDMI, make sure HDR is on off whatever. ignored it. just wanted to make complaint to them to raise the issue. On another note, I re purchased the game digitally and sold my disc copy, mainly because i got a voucher for 40% off anything on the store so got the game for £30 and sold it for what i bought it for originally. So after deleting the disc install in re installing the digital version it almost seems like the game is far less blurry. I have a few friends i spoke to early on asking if their game was blurry and they had no idea what i was talking about, both on pros but they had the digital version. I am starting to wonder if that could affect it. I have no idea how but there seems to be a pattern. either that or the clearing of the cache by re installing the game helped like some of the R* support said to do with L1+R1. anyone with the blur, are you physical or digital?
Avean Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 10 hours ago, Theolaitdoux said: question that has no relationship with the blur but I wanted to know with what color temperature you play? I have a LG OLED C8 set on W40 is it you think for games? thank you so much W40 is perfect. You get nice greens and white colors. I use it myself on my LG OLED C7 and its recommended by pro calibrators. 1
k_blade Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 hello I'm Italian, I have a ps4 pro ... I'm playing the game on a sony 55xe9305 tv I proceeded to calibrate hdr in the game at 500 ... but nothing is too blurred ... you know something on a patch. thank you 2

MN32410 Red_&_Dead Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) How I can purchase my copy. I bought it in ps store. Support is no help. No technical advice for me. I have bought now a xbox one x. It is coming in a big bundle with Forza horizon 4, Forza 7 and REd Dead Redemption 2 for only 449 Euro. THat is a real good Angebot. I don´t know the word for the translation. Holy sh*t only for red dead redemption 2. It comes on nov 22. Look at amazon. What for me erased the blur a lot is, use the standaqrd mode of your tv not the gaming mode. raise up dynamic contrast to high or middle and dynamic tone mapping. Use LED lock dimming on middle and increase the default sharpen + 10. Turn off HDR. I´m Using a LG TV with Nanocell technique 2018 Gen. I hope that can help someone. It is playable right now, but miles away from onex. Use dynamic superresolution on middle. Use the third cam for horseriding and for walking. In this status it doesn´t looks like a next Gen Game to me on the Pro. I´m writing now the big 2 german gaming magazines, for that bad miracle. Edited November 2, 2018 by MN32410 Red_&_Dead

Don't mention this to R* support. Otherwise, aside of the usual check HDMI/turn off HDR/restart/dance with wolf's skull you'll also get a suggestion that the blur is actually our eyesight getting worse with age) On a serious note tho, I've booted the game yesterday to run a check - at dusk game-time I saved a screenshot using the 'Share' option and the image became a lot better - got to read distant street signs and overall detail has slightly changed. Weird thing is - opening a saved screenshot had the level of detail of the original game (before pressing 'Share'). 1

Weird thing is - opening a saved screenshot had the level of detail of the original game (before pressing 'Share'). So you can see those weird thing on a lot of PC Games. It is the temporal AA. If someone have the last F1 titles of codemasters. Here you can see this in a perfect way. This is postprocessing AA. The blur starts with moving, mostly on middle and higher drawdistances. I´m sure now, the checkerboarding is fine. It is the damned TAA, that dobles the blur effect with motion blur and depth of field. I think the only good temporal Antialiasing what produce nearly no blur is smaa. THis technique was enough to reduce jagged edges on high resolutions. I have talked about that all with the support guy. You can talk with your hand and you will become a better answer. This is really no configuration problem of our tv´s I´ve talked about that to with the support. Turn off HDR this is the only answer, I think the supportteam are bots. We receive all the same unacceptable answers. Edited November 2, 2018 by MN32410 Red_&_Dead 1
theLich Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I've also messed a bit with LG monitor's 'super-resolution+' setting I've never touched previously. Sharpened the image (particularly mid-long distance grass/foliage), however after looking at the screen for some time after cranking it to highest available setting, I think it's going to be braille version of RDR for me if I decide to play like this for 2-3 hours.

For me another problem is going on. Game begins to stutter in forest, big shootings in rain, and in the cities. I become a big ghosting effect when i turn around my charakter. Edit HDR is off. Theolaitdoux Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 French article: http://m.jeuxactu.com/red-dead-redemption-2-bientot-un-patch-pour-ameliorer-le-rendu-sur-ps4-115910.htm 1
0ldKen Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 To Artur you listen! install it and play it at your NORMAL settings that already look good on ps4pro hdr enabled games like spiderman. we have all messed with our settings soo much that a lot of us can’t get back. 1 1
0ldKen Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Theo... can you give us the basic synopsis of that article in English?
Why? Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 Translation : Released last Friday, the impressive open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 has splashed the faces of millions of players and, officially, the game is an absolute hit with $ 725 million raised in just three days. It must be said that the game of Rockstar is a small wonder that, however, has collected many negative feedback on a specific point: the graphic rendering of the PS4 Pro version. If we knew for a long time that Xbox One X iteration would display the best result, his competitor from Sony should not be left behind and, without delivering a disappointing result, was noticed for a blur effect unnatural. Worse still, some players complained of headaches and it turned out that, yes, the game on PS4 Pro showed a resolution below what had been promised by the developers, at least for all the effects of backgrounds. After many complaints on the support platform, Rockstar finally spat out the piece: the designers "are working hard to solve the problem". We can therefore expect that an update will soon be deployed for a much finer rendering. We reassure you all the same, the title is still absolutely splendid and offers the most beautiful open-world ever made in the video game. Go for it! 1
Theolaitdoux Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 The article says that an update is planned on ps4 pro for the problem of fuzziness(vagueness) that meets the players of the whole world. However big disappointment the orsque I saw that the article it was based on the small message of the computer of Rockstar. another false hope.. 1
