Blurry HDR? Fake HDR is more like it. The game looks blurry  WITHOUT  HDR on, so it isn't really the HDR that's causing the blur issue. The illegitimate HDR is a problem of its own, from what it seems, separate from the blurry mess.

Hello, I wrote tickets too, to support. This is a major issue. It blurs in many ways:

 

to agressive motion blur

to agressive depth of field

to agressive temporal antialiasing which doesn´t work correctly with the checkerboard rendering.

 

What can they do:

Fix the sharpen slider for checkerboard resolution

gave us a button to turn off motion blurUse SMAA for Antaliasing instead of TAA. This will give a performance boost too. TAA costs a lot more Performance. You have no jagged edges with taa but to the cost of a blurry image. Look at Shadows of the Tomb Raider on PC. The TAA destroys the Texture Quality and sharpness totally. Gave us in a second Patch better HDR. Take the time to patch this. This will take a while I think. But I think the Sharpen Slider can be integrated by a hotfix. This is why the 1080p Image looks so good.

 

I don´t think it is the checkerboarding only. It is the combination of checkerboarding and TAA, My other Theory is in One frame are two images. One of the higher solution and on e of the 1080p resolution. I  can´t  understand while the sharpness is is dimming to blurriness  all second. Without moving Arthur or the Charakter. Tis is so strange. with to agressive motion blur when you turn around the camera.You can not focus anything of the picture when all this troble of blur is going on. Before I´ve made my own configuration for my TV and switching off the fake HDR, my eyes are  going tired since a half hour of gameplay and a headache and problems with my stomach is overwhelming me since an hour of gameplay.

 

I wrote that all in a ticket. I think it is our work on rdr2.org that all this would be adressed now. This is my username of rdr2.org I send in my last ticket a link of the thread on rdr2.org to the support team.

 

I like the game really, but most of my time, I´m going crazy and pull all out of my tv to become an better image of rdr2

I don't think X1X version is completely perfect because it uses the same type of anti aliasing used on PS4 PRO, it just doesn't look so bad because X1X outputs true 4k, X1X has the same issues with motion blur and depth of field that has PS4 PRO.

I´m sorry for my harsh words yesterday, soory guys. This has something to do with my illness.

I found something out for LG users.

 

Use the hdmi port 1. It is really necessary for the game.

Use your adjust scan function of your tv, the most tv´s of this generatioin using a overscan or upscaling on the picture

- go to your ps4 sound and screen display settings set the scaling that the edges are connecting the edges of your tv.  This may help in all games

- set the superresolution setting to high in your LG advanced menue

- set the the colour blackness level to low  in the menue under the advanced menue

- Set your colour temperature to w 30

- reduce the backlight of your tv and use the highest setting of brightness in the hdr menue of the game

- set the colours in your tv options to advanced or in german it is breit, I don´t know what is the englich translation.

- use the game mode

- - turn off true motion

- turn off all aiming adjustments in the game

 

- Start the game in 1080p set the sharpness slider to zero

- switch to your sound and screen settings in your ps4 menu

- set the settings to 2160p rgb

sorry, ifound no better image. Use the 2160p-RGB not the YUV420 mode

 

 

- go back into your game

- set the sharpening slider to highest level and enjoy the game

 

- I hope this will help you to, but this is on the other hand a configuring problem of the game. No other game has so much problem on consoles.

 

- Now I think without of the blur issue, the problem is always there but I think it is not a problem with the checkerboarding. It is the stoopid motion blur and the taa.

 

But i can say to all of you, the graphic effects overwhelming me now. The whole game is overwhelming me.

I´m now to search for a second camp, and yes the trouble with the blur is much lesser in this region. This region with all his georgeos planes and fields with this enourmous drawing distance when I sit on horseback and talking with my gangmember are overwhelming me. This is a real western. If you are a older guy and you has enyou a lot of western movies in the past with good old clint or charles bronson or the other big hollywood heroes, you become tears in your eyes. I´m sure.

With motion on you become a big input lag. THat is no good reason to reduce artifacts in gaming. For movies it is a real good feature. The response of your controller is a bit lower with motion.

Thank god I'm not the only one facing this issue 😂 I noticed the blur and pixel issues In the game almost instantly which is a bummer because the game itself is amazing, I run a PS4 slim on a HDR benq monitor, although I don't use red deads HDR it's picture looks terrible, SDR still faces similar blur Issues. It's the motion pixelation that drives me insane simply riding the horse and moving the camera Arthur and he's surroundings look like a mess. 

-On trying to diagnose the issue I swapped TVs no luck 

-downloaded it on my brothers ps4 and played still poor picture 

-played on my friends Xbox one x, and although the picture seems slightly better the motion blur follows each one. 

I have sent r* msgs and they've requested I send them a video of the issue, are they playing dumb? Surely they'd know about it I don't even know if the video will show it up properly

Hi! Im suffering this "blurry effect" too, but im playing on a PS4 PRO but on 1080p, cause my TV aint got no 4k (2k in this game, i know). The game is playable, but i feel like it should be even better, eventhough it looks so nice. I am the only one struggling playing on 1080? or u guys suffer this blurry even on 1080? thank u boys!

Turn off supersampling can be help . You find it under your video output settings of your ps4 pro.  Go to settings/ sound and screen/video output settings/supersampling mode/ 

 

Turn off supersampling. This will give you a sharper image in 1080p mode.

I have a Panasonic 4k HDR TV, and I'm playing it on a Full HD TV 10 years ago, and it looks sharper than on 4k TV, but it also has that blurry effect so horrible, it seems at times that you're playing to a game of ps3.
Hopefully they solve it as soon as possible and do not forget the serious problem of motion blur and AA.
However, when you take a screenshot and return to the game, or when you aim a weapon with a telescopic sight, and you stop aiming, it looks super clear and perfect, this I guess you should find an easy solution and give us a game more clear to 4k rescaled.

They must give us only the sharpen slider in 4k mode first or for the supersmpling mode. I think thiss will give us a sharper image on midrange distance and lowest distance. I think to implement a button to change the motion blur on and off is the next step in a second patch to fix the graphics. On a good calibrated tv the hdr looks better. It is not real hdr, but you see a lot of more details in the blacks. I mean a lot more steps of blacklevel. For me it is better to play with hdr. With warmer colours it looks really nice.

 

on some lg Tvs the red is to low

change the red to r6 or r8 what you like

ant the colour temperature to w 25 or w 30

 

This will give you a more colourful image. The washed out colours are no more.
I´m using now a 10k 120hz cable from club3d.

The colours are a  lot improved. Before I used a belkin apple tv cable.

With this cable when i turn the hdr off the blacklevel in woods, real darkness with any details is a lot to high. All the darker details sunken in the black and that with blacklevel high.

I see no new persons that make some noise on the support forum. I´m really tired now. I do that all for the community. I hope the patch give us an option to clean up the blur. Nearly 800 Million Dollars in one week. They can use 2 percent of the benefit and thanxs the gamers that buy her f....ing games to create a patch. Yup, I kind of understand that support team CAN be uninformed on account of patch ETA/changes we should expect (or they cannot disclose them for some reasons). R* has rarely disappointed but with so much fuss we made, I think we deserve to know at least if the Pro version's visuals are being looked into. Or you know, an official statement like "go trade back your pony-box and buy the superior Microsoft sh*tbox to truly experience the game". Won't point fingers but I know some people who would do just that if it's the case)

Rockstar isn't going to patch this.  They would have acknowledged this by now.  Beating a dead horse now I think.  Lesson to learn is to never pre-order nor buy a giant open world game day one.  Wait at least two months and you will probably pay less and have several bugs worked out.

The stunning silence from R* seems so disrespectful to the masses of disappointed fans, especially as all the pre-sale exhibitions never hinted at these issues being present.

Do you bite the bullet and buy an X?  Do you simply forget the game is there and wait in anticipation of a patch?

Personally I still haven't installed it, and as I'm trying to fully complete a recent re-run of GTA, I have something to keep my mind of RDR2...although I nearly caved in yesterday and installed it just to have a look.  It may look fine, although I accept it won't be quite as nice as the X.  It may be a blurred mess to me too, although some people seem to think it's fine.

This is stupid I know, but I was seriously considering selling my PS4 Pro and G29 wheel, and using those funds to buy an X...yes, that's how much I was (and am) looking forward to this game.  I can't buy an X and keep the Pro...so what have you guys decided to do?  I'm genuinely sorry for your disappointment, but life goes on!  You can get an X!  Cheers.

a dlc they have been working one for quite some time, so has nothing to do with the patch, i personally would have prefered something esle as a dlc ,

 i await tomorrow, as with gta , two weeks after launch the online part started, hopefully with a graphics patch for the pro , in the menatime got plenty of games to finish

Haven't been into gaming much from the long-gone 2013 I think. But as a huge fan of the original RDR and westerns overall, I just couldn't pass this one. Got a Pro, started playing Uncharted/God of War and I must say - I REALLY enjoyed the experience. However, with RDR 2 being the main reason for getting back into all this stuff, I'll have to either trade or plan my budget to get One X later. Damn, if I trade - I won't know what happens to Kratos...

Either way, I think we should all go to Winchester, have a pint, wait for at least the first patch and choose sides from there.
