how to get back to third person mode

Hello everyone.  Hoping someone can help me.

I am in the very beginning of the game.  I'm On the train we are robbing and about to jump down between two of the train cars.  By mistake, I switched into first person mode.  I searched online and most people are saying to switch back to third person, press the touchpad on the ps4 controller.  This is not working for me.  I press the touchpad once and it  does nothing.  I press on the touchpad twice and it  changes the view but never gets me back to third person.  Help!!!

Are you on ps4.....if that's the case the big middle button changes the views. Don't no on xbox?

Thanks for your comment MJRou812, but I tried that.  and yes Im on ps4.  Any ideas?

Try pushing down firmly in the middle of the big button....it should change views, did you remap your buttons layout?

I tried that also.  I have pressed that middle button every which way possible.  1 finger, 2 fingers, pressing once, doubleclicking, triple clicking, pressing soft, pressing hard, combinations with other buttons, etc.  All I get is different angles of the view.  I never get back to third person.

I reset all the game control options back to factory default.  Still nothing.

I cant believe I am stuck for the dumbest thing.  I cant play first person because it makes me dizzy.

I am trying not to restart because I will lost my progress.

This really sucks.

Yep it does suck.....if your not to far into the game, try a fresh reinstall followed by the day one patch....its the only thing I can think of, Rockstar will begin dropping patches out every other week or so, but at this moment that's your best bet?

FYI

I think I realize whats happening.  I think I am in Third Person, but my character is invisible, so it appears to me that I am in first person.  I know im invisible because as I play, i am not getting shot by any of the driscol gang even though im right in front of them.  Also when I loot dead guys, they appear to be levitating off the ground rather than my character lifting them off the ground.  Also, when I interact with objects, they appear to be floating in the air and moving on thier own,but really my character is guiding them.

That's very weird. Yeah, your touch pad should change you into 3rd person, I haven't had a problem. Maybe check your controls in settings make your your on default? Or maybe you have a fault in your touch pad button.
