Is there a way to set a gun to always use one ammo type?

So, I love the fact that you can purchase 3 different types of ammo for most guns.  However, it seems to me that you have to switch to the ammo type every single time you pull out that weapon.  I open the weapon wheel, choose Express, for instance, and once I put the gun away, I have to choose the ammo type all over again next time I pull it out.  Seems inconvenient especially when you're in the middle of a shootout.  Does anybody know if there's a way to permanently set the ammo type for a gun?  I mean, I guess you could just use up all the regular ammo and not buy anymore, but it seems like a waste of money.

This is the only way I can see you can do it. Depends how badly you want it, I guess, and whether it's worth $10 or so to rinse all your regular ammo.

Working on that now.  I think I'll keep the regular ammo for my guns that have scopes.  Other than that, I'm just sitting here blasting off rounds into the lake lol Maybe I'll hit a fish.  Actually, I did manage to shoot a fish with my bow up in the swamps yesterday  lol

If you want the easiest $50 ever:

Fast travel to Strawberry.  Walk to the front of the general store and under the walkway in front by where you hitch your horse.  There's windows into the basement.  If you use your "look" function, you'll discover a moonshine still in the basement that operates as a side business.  This can be robbed.  Go up, put on a mask, walk in, point gun at shopkeeper, and rob the side business.

 

As long as you have your mask on, you can loot his cash stash of $50, with no warrant or bounty being placed.  

As a bonus, on your way out, you can rob the register, too.  Dude stays in the basement and you can walk away scott free with anywhere from $50-$100.  Not bad for two minutes of work.

Funny you ask...it let me 'stow' it on the back of my horse, but at some point it fell off and I didn't notice...when I got all the way back to the camp it was gone.  Meh, probably would have been rotten by that time anyways.
