I noticed that sometimes the "Crime Reported" notification pops randomly.

Did this happen to you? Is this a bug or has some explanation?

I just noticed that yesterday... Most of the time I assume I had looked at someone wrong, but this time there was NOBODY anywhere near me.

Had you recently left the scene of a crime and left a body or evidence behind?  I get that from time to time, and all I have to do is basically run away from the crime scene as fast as I can.  Unless there's a "WITNESS" notification, a "Crime Reported" is nothing to worry about--most of the time you can outrun the investigation.

I hunted a pig, near some buildings in Valentine. I got the crime reported message. Then lawmen coming to investigate. I harvested the pig, and I got away. But a $5 bounty was placed on my head. I got $1.05 from selling the pig parts.

Crime did not pay.

I often do, but not in this instance. Just riding to the next town minding my own business.
