Miss-able Items, achievements and weapons.

Just 100% the game and the idea of going back out into the real world, bathing or generally existing outside of Red Dead is a terrifying notion. Turns out there are some miss-ables that unsurprisingly I missed on my first play through so I'm burning the soap and aiming for a secondary perfect play through.

Spoiler

Turns out quite a few animals are entirely miss-able during chapter 5 which was incredibly tilting considering I had every other animal scouted.

Does anyone have a full list of items or missions that are miss-able? Thanks in advance.

I think all the optional story missions and stranger quests are in the official guide.  Most, though not all, of the stranger interactions and special interest sites are listed too.  There are many Easter eggs, some special sites, and a few stranger interactions which aren't.  I don't think it talks about alternative endings.  But it's a good place to start - I've found it invaluable in trying to hit every possible thing (although I don't think it possible I need a single run).

Also some missions/people aren't available if you're playing the villian and playing for as much red honor as you can get.  I'm guessing some of the missions aren't available for the white hat hero in the same way.  I have to play through twice just to do both sides. and yes, i'll have to get 100% each time, i'm OCD that way lol.

Yeah, the things you mentioned in your spoiler are very infuriating to say the least. I just wanted to get the hell out of that place so I rushed through that chapter. Also, I have the official guide and while it mentions missions that are time sensitive it doesn't mention animals that are time sensitive. I have absolutely no intention of playing through it again so missing out on that really sucks. When I hit the required 100% (currently at 97.1%) is when I enjoy games like this the most. No more stress, just exploring. But it sure will bug me that I missed all that stuff.

I'm pretty sure the chapter 5 animals are not necessary for 100% completion achievement (even the guidebook doesn't go into detail about the animals in chapter 5), though are for every compendium box to be filled (I think).

It is virtually impossible, though, given the constraints on chp 5 to study, track and skin every available 'extra' animal - there's a fair few (not at all listed in official guide), some of which only seem to spawn in a single location at random and where you are guaranteed to die trying to get to them.  Some folk on the to internet have spent 5+ hours trying to get them all and even then abandoned it as too hard and grindy.

Virtually impossible seems like a challenge and one I gladly accept 😅. Yeah you're correct it's not required for the the "100%" criteria but I've already got that achievement, I'm trying to get all the ones I missed. I've already f'd up this second play through by missing one of the companion missions (timed poker event) so after I've done with this file looks like I'll need a third one haha.
