Legendary Alligator

New to this forum so forgive me if this has been asked already but I'm trying to hunt the legendary alligator now I know I'm in the correct area for the location but when using dead eye I cannot see any clues popping up so I can track it my question is do I need to do a mission that unlocks the alligator because I already did that one mission where i helped a guy in the swamp at night to check his traps and to save his friend so I've been introduced to the legendary alligator that way but i still feel I'm missing something

Search function is an awesome tool...

Could be too busy in the area for the Legendary to spawn.  Like if you're wanted and they're after you, or are in the middle of a conflict, spooked it out of the area, etc.

That little motherf..... My game bugged with that piece of sh*t, so it did with many others when I checked online, it is suposed to show when you finish that mission, BUT for some it doesn't, mine only showed up in CH.6... from 4 to 5 I went checking and it didn't come, maybe try progressing some more and try again later.

What Kormath said could be true too, first time I went there and the "Legendary Animal area" window popped up, it said the place was busy with too many events or something, some random encounter can happen in that area, I finished the encounter and waited a day or two before trying again, and it showed for me.

I should also mention that I just got back from Guam (sp) so I wonder if I missed my opportunity to go after the legendary alligator

is there a timer on that one?  that would suck cause i've probably missed it too then.

Do not worry, like I said I had to complete that entire chapter before the alligator showed up, he only showed up in Chapter 6.

Chapter 6 for me too, it's likely that's when it's meant to be available as it was the same in both of my play-throughs.

If there are any active mission markers, stranger quests or basically anything in the area of the bayou it will not even be possible for it to spawn, even in ch 6.
