Any Way To "Be Active" Without Having To Handle Controller Yourself?

What I mean is, I'm trying to get the travel rewards for riding the train. But I don't want to sit in front of my TV walking my guy back and forth so that I don't get kicked for idling. I tried taping the controller sticks so that he was waling in circles (thought that would kill 2 birds with one stone) but I still got the idle message. Any ideas?

So, what's your plan for travel by canoe? Some of the awards are just ludicrous, if I can't see myself achieving them through enjoying playing the game I ignore them.
