Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

The Fine Joys of Tobacco

The Fine Joys of Tobacco is the 14th Story Mission in Chapter 3 and the 39th Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. The mission is unlocked after completing the "Advertising, the New American Art - II" mission earlier in the chapter. To start the mission, head over to the Braithwaite Manor, where Hosea is waiting for you.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

Inside the manor, Arthur's intelligence will be questioned by the Braithwaite matriarch Catherine. Hosea will play off it and eventually sends Arthur on an errand together with Sean.

It turns out that the errand is dangerous, but can damage the Gray family considerably. Sean informs Arthur that they are supposed to torch the Gray family's tobacco fields. As Sean drives the wagon, Arthur hides inside it as he is well known in Caliga Hall.

Once in front of the Gray family's property, Sean gets acquainted with Hamish Gray, offering him free alcohol and befriending him. The Gray is so trusting that he even offers to escort Sean to the location marked on the map.

Once at the location, Sean and Hamish start unloading the moonshine that will be used to torch the fields. Arthur then gets off the wagon and proceeds to take out Hamish Gray. To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you will have to kill Hamish silently while he is being distracted by Sean. To do so, just get behind him and perform a choke as prompted on screen.

After you are done with Hamish, drag his body into the nearby building to prevent someone from seeing the dead man and alerting the whole Caliga Hall. Once this is done, head into the barn and receive additional fire bottles from Sean.

While they are heading out, Arthur and Sean are forced to hide again as another wagon is passing by. The outlaws overhear about the payroll carried by it and they decide that they will get that as well before fleeing the tobacco fields.

Once the wagon moves ahead it's time to torch the field. You will have to do so within 2 minutes and 20 seconds to get the Gold Medal. The timer starts after Sean kills the guard, so be ready. To torch the field, you need to pour the moonshine in the areas highlighted on the map. Do it for long enough, and the yellow area will disappear. There are seven areas to clear, so make sure to be quick while always keeping an eye on guards patrolling the surroundings.

Once all fields have been taken care of, head back to the barn, where Sean will tell you to launch a fire bottle into the barn to create some confusion. After this is done, throw fire bottles into the marked areas on the map to set the tobacco field on fire.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

The whole property is now on alert, and you will have to fight your way out. To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you have to complete the mission without taking any health item.

Before making your escape, Sean will be looking for the wagon with the payroll. Follow him when he moves ahead, but always be careful of guards. You will constantly be under attack so make sure to reduce the enemies coming after you as much as possible. Using Dead Eye helps quite a bit at this point since visibility is very low.

Eventually, Sean will find the wagon with the payroll. While he is looting the wagon, Arthur will have to free the horses from the harnesses. Once this is done, the two outlaws will finally make their escape.

During the escape sequence, Arthur and Sean will be followed by a few Grays. To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you will have to kill at least 5 Grays, which can be difficult, since Sean is quite accurate during this sequence and visibility is poor. Use Dead Eye as much as possible and go for headshots.

After the Grays stop following you, Arthur will have a talk with Sean. You can decide to get back to camp with him or on your own. No matter your choice, the mission is complete.

Blessed are the Peacemakers

The Blessed are the Peacemakers is the 15th Story Mission in Chapter 3 and the 40th Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. The mission becomes available right after completing the previous mission, "The Fine Joys of Tobacco". To begin the mission, you have to talk with Micah at the Clemens Point camp.

The hated Colm O' Driscoll is apparently in the Lemoyne area and he has proposed a parley to Dutch to settle their conflict. Several members of the gang, Arthur included, think this is a trap, but Dutch is willing to take the chance and see if they can reduce the number of enemies on the gang's tail. The plan is that Micah and Dutch take part in the actual parley while Arthur covers them from an advantageous position.

After the talking is done, Arthur, Dutch, and Micah will get on their horses and head to the meeting point marked on the map. On the way, Arthur will continue to voice his doubts to Dutch, but the gang leader will continue to reassure him. Once at the area, the outlaws will split up: Arthur will head up a hill to keep an eye on the situation while Dutch and Micah meet with Colm O' Driscoll. Take out the binoculars to check the area where the parley is taking place.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

At some point, Arthur will take out his sniper rifle automatically to scan the area in search of possible danger. A cutscene will show how the parley will go and, as suspected, it really is a trap, as Arthur will be assaulted from behind and dragged away to some unknown place. Once he regains consciousness, he is in the not-so-pleasant company of Colm O' Driscoll himself, who tries to turn Arthur against Dutch. The attempt fails and Arthur is left chained upside down.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you will have to free yourself and perform self-surgery within 1 minute. Time is extremely short here, so you will have to be quick. Once you regain control of Arthur, swing to the left and right with the left stick to grab the file and free yourself. You will not have to take care of the nasty wound the O'Driscolls gave you: rotate the left stick, insert the object into the wound and continue following the button prompts to cauterize the wound.

Now that you have somewhat healed, it's time to make your escape. To get the Gold Medal for the mission, you will have to kill the O'Driscoll gang members that beat you and shot you, and escape without getting spotted. This escape sequence is made a little harder by your vision, which is distorted due to the beating Arthur took.

Once you have regained control of Arthur, head up the stairs and then go to the right. Wait for the guard to turn away from your position and kill him. Head to the west from here and kill the next guard you see with a throwing knife, as you will be spotted if you get too close to him. After killing this guard go to the east and then south. You will spot another guard that you can get close to and kill. To the west will be the final guard who can be killed easily.

Now that all guards have been killed, it's time to recover your weapons. They are located near the wooden shack close to the room you were imprisoned in. The location is also highlighted on the map with a small weapon icon. You also need to recover your weapons to get the Gold Medal for this mission.

You will also find your horse nearby. Mount and make your escape while avoiding the O'Driscolls patrolling the area. After a short while, Arthur will pass out and wake up in the camp. Mission complete.

A Short Walk in a Pretty Town

The A Short Walk in a Pretty Town mission is the 16th Story Mission in Chapter 3 and the 41st Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 story campaign. The mission is unlocked after completing the "Friends in Very Low Places" earlier in the chapter. To start the mission, you have to talk with Bill in Rhodes.

Bill, Sean, and Micah are going to meet some of the Grays at the saloon to talk about a job and Arthur will join them. On the way to the saloon, the Van der Linde gang members will talk about the current situation and the violent feud between the Grays and the Braithwaites. Unlike what Dutch predicted, the two families have become quite aware of what the gang is trying to do and the meeting with the Grays is actually a trap. Sean gets killed without being able to get his gun out and the rest have now to make their escape.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you will have to complete it within 4 minutes and 30 seconds, get 20 headshots, complete the mission only using firearms and without taking any health items. The fact that you are limited to side-arms makes things slightly more difficult than usual. You will have to deal with a lot of enemies at the beginning of this sequence, so make sure to use Dead Eye as much as possible and go for headshots.

After some time, Micah will tell Arthur to get to the Gunsmith. Move to the shop while keeping an eye on enemies, kick down the door and fight the enemies inside the shop. After this is done, follow Micah as you continue to take down enemies and go behind cover to avoid major damage. Once most enemies have been killed the remaining ones will retreat.

Once the coast is clear head to the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff will come out once called out, but he won't be alone, and his men are holding Bill hostage. You will enter Dead Eye automatically, so shoot the three lawmen to free Bill. Killing all three of them with the same Dead Eye usage is also a requirement to obtain the Gold Medal for this mission.

Once Bill has been saved, the mission will be complete.

Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern

Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern is the 17th Story Mission in Chapter 3 and the 42nd Story Mission in all of Red Dead Redemption 2. The mission is unlocked after completing the previous story mission, "A Short Walk in a Pretty Town". To begin the mission, you must talk with Dutch at the Clemens Point camp.

The previous mission made it obvious that the two families have had it with the Van der Linde gang and they are doing everything they can to get rid of the outlaws. The Braithwates, however, have gone way too far as they have kidnapped Jack Marston.

Once in the camp, Dutch will ask Arthur if he has seen Jack around. Abigail and Hosea are certain he has been kidnapped, and Dutch decides it's time to ride out to the Braithwaite Manor in full force to show the family that the gang is not to be messed with.

Once at the manor things get heated quickly. Dutch will tell John to keep calm, but the gang leader himself has no intention of holding back since he kicks off a bloody fight against the family after some very short negotiations.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you have to get 20 headshots complete with at least 85% accuracy and without using any health item. Like it usually is with these requirements, make sure to always use Dead Eye to get the headshots and be as accurate as possible. There are a lot of enemies outside the manor, so make sure to avoid getting damaged by staying behind cover.

Once enough enemies have been killed Dutch will call Arthur, and the two will storm the mansion to find Jack. Search every room marked yellow on the map, and look out for the enemies inside. Once you are done with the ground floor, head upstairs. Catherine Braithwaite and some of her men are hiding in one of the rooms there and the outlaws will try to get the door open. More reinforcements are coming, and Arthur and Jack will have to deal with them from the balcony. Use Dead Eye here to be as accurate as possible. Eventually, the enemies will flee and Arthur and John will be able to enter the room where the Braithwaites are hiding.

Once inside the room, Dead Eye will activate automatically and you will have to headshot Gareth and Gerald Braithwaite to get the Gold Medal.

Without anyone left to protect her, Catherine Braithwaite is taken outside the manor by Dutch. The outlaw manages to learn that Jack has been taken by Angelo Bronte to Saint Denis and this is where the gang will be heading next. Watch the manor go up in flames to complete the mission.

The Battle of Shady Belle

The Battle of Shady Belle is the 18th and final Story Mission in Chapter 3 and the 43rd Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption. The mission begins immediately after completing the "Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern" mission.

With both the Grays and the Braithwaites out to get the Van der Linde gang, as well as given recent events, it's clear how they cannot remain in the area for much longer. Things, however, take a turn for the worse when the Pinkertons show up at the Clemens Point camp, making it clear that the gang has to move out, and fast.

Chapter 3 Missions And Gold Medals Guide

Arthur suggests that the old mansion at Shady Belle could be a good hideout. Dutch agrees and sends both Arthur and John ahead to scout and remove anyone who could still be occupying the mansion.

To get the Gold Medal for this mission, you will have to complete it within 11 minutes. As such, it's best to skip all cutscenes to save some time. Reaching Shady Belle quickly also helps considerably.

Once near the mansion, Arthur and John will dismount and approach it. Lemoyne Raiders are still within it, so you will have to deal with them as quickly as possible. Any shotgun is a good choice for this mission as you have to be as quick as possible and don't need to worry about headshots or accuracy.

Once you have cleared the enemies outside the mansion, head inside. There are a few rooms marked yellow, so enter them and take care of any enemy inside. In one of the rooms upstairs you will find the Lemoyne Raiders leader. You can either wait for him to kill himself or do the job for him. If you are aiming to get the Gold Medal, just kill the man to save some time.

Now that all enemies are dead, it's time to get rid of their bodies. You will have to get rid of two of them in 1 minute and 40 seconds to get the Gold Medal for the mission. Get the first body, hurry to the drop-off point and then do the same for the second.

Once you are done with the cleanup job, the rest of the gang will arrive. Dutch will take Arthur to Saint Denis and the mission, as well as Chapter 3, will be complete.
