  1. I block them on PSN so (hopefully) PSN servers won't put us together again. I report them because I want Rockstar to know they aren't giving me the game they said they were. I also put those comments in feedback. As far as shooting me/griefing not being a violation of any rules, when it happens (which is rare now because I usually play in glitched solo lobbies), there is a certain confusion there. Rockstar implements Defensive to prevent me getting griefed...yet won't outright ban griefing. If enough people continue to point out the stupidity of that, maybe Rockstar will eventually do something of worth in terms of griefing. They haven't as of yet.
  2. This is kind of my outlook whenever I play in unglitched free roam (which now is usually just the 30 seconds before Defensive kicks in). I do parley, press charges, block on PSN and report to Rockstar. They're not worth my time or effort.
  3. I guess I do feel the game is broken--so I have no issue glitching to stay in solo/passive lobbies. I can't say I blame anyone that left the game with the condition it's in. The people that I know didn't sign on to be griefed and bullied while the game gets itself together, especially with the number of other titles out here that are newer but still more fleshed out than RDO.
  4. Maybe you're right and Rockstar just isn't "there" yet and they are going for "something different." Maybe I just came on too early (and had others come on, too, unfortunately--they've been totally run off). What I do know is that i don't feel comfortable giving them a big thumbs up at this point regarding griefing. I still find it curious that I have to select Defensive every time I log in.
  5. God, I played WoW so long ago I don't remember...but if I know me, I pretty sure I was on a PvE server. And now I'm curious about my Warlock. I might try to investigate what I can still find out about him. Another project for me... Regarding Rockstar's griefing, I feel they do want to encourage it, one of my examples of that is having to wait 30 seconds to enable Defensive mode. At best, I think Rockstar experiences some type of Janus faced disorder in regards to griefing.
  6. Yeah, the people I started the game with left because of the griefing. They came back to try it again after Defensive mode started, found it kind of worthless and left again.
  7. Even the way Blizzard communicates with their customers shows how they totally outclass Rockstar as far as their customer service. Blizzard handles Warcraft on a level to which Rockstar can't compare. Blizz's handling of a customer environment is something you won't find in RDO, not yet any way. I never had the problems with other gamers in Warcraft that I have in RDO.
  8. Rockstar is not only aware of the griefers, Rockstar encourages them. The same way Rockstar set it up so that I log off in Defensive mode but when I log back in, I'm automatically in Offensive mode. Griefers/bullies are fairly common in free roam right now, that's why some players still glitch solo/passive lobbies so we can avoid them. If you find griefers/bullies to be a problem, Rockstar is to blame. Rockstar set their new hunting mission mode up so that weapons and offensive attacks against other players are disabled. They can turn the griefers/bullies off and on as they please. Rockstar just doesn't want to.
  9. I didn't see a 1/2 Like reaction icon, so I gave you the full Like--but I only partially agree with you but very strongly. I don't think it has anything to do with taking being killed/griefed personally, I'm just anti griefer and the game I purchased (based on the promo materials) didn't say I'd be griefed by any loser who also could purchase the game. Interesting that a game that promotes bullying would be released in 2019 on game consoles where so many teens play (regardless of the rating). And, yes, I've posed that question to appropriate parties. Defensive mode, as is, is pointless if the griefer is determined and has some skill. Rockstar could have turned up the victims' resistance to bullets even higher but they chose not to. As is, it's still too easy to kill someone who wants to avoid a bully and that video, along with similar videos, highlights that. The casual griefers who permeate this game, the ones I run into most times, are being at least hampered by Defensive mode. I was curious after the first Defensive day when I was shotgunned in the back to see exactly how it worked. I planted myself outside of Valentine and waited. Of course, since Rockstar maintains RDO as a cesspool for griefers, one soon approached with his gun out. I watched as he pointed his gun at me or tried to. I could see him trying to line up a shot at my head but it never seemed to line up. He tried a few seconds as I watched his arm move around as he tried to set up his shot. Then he started shooting and some of the bullets whizzed around me as others connected as I ran away. I only play in Defensive mode, except for that short period when you have to switch from Offensive. I have logged in and been grief killed in that short period of time. Kind of odd that Rockstar can keep track of how much money you have and your bounty charges when you log in and out but not whether or not you logged out in Defensive mode or not. It's almost as if Rockstar wants you to get griefed. Imagine that. (What a bunch of axxxxxxx.) But even I have to agree that Defensive keeps me safer than previously, at least how and when and where I play, and that's where we disagree. Because of all the variables, others may have more or fewer issues with Defensive than I do, so we all will experience it differently. Even with that bit of extra help, I still play in glitched solo servers when I want a hunting or, most definitely, a fishing session.
  10. To each their own, I guess. Besides, my first griefing encounter after Defensive dropped was me getting shotgunned in the back. Talking wouldn't have helped. Just the other day, as I was admiring the scenery (Defensive mode on, as usual), someone rode up behind me, dismounted, pulled out his machete and started to approach me. I don't even want to talk to someone that would try something like that. Nah, I'm good with no mic, thanks.
  11. I won't play with a mic and typically try to play only in glitched lobbies in free roam--but imagining you saying that to someone made me laugh!
  12. Yes, I find it to be a bit of a train wreck right now, though it has been much worse in the past. I find myself playing the missions and different modes when I want to play shoot 'em up but I seek out glitched solo/passive servers when I want to do things in free roam. I guess I'll be content playing that way until Rockstar boots me from their game. Even with all of that, I still find myself logging in on occasion now. This is a really great game to me--it's just that Rockstar is such a xxxxxx when it comes to the way they present it to us. Happy trails!!
  13. Keep in mind, the pro griefer players are probably in the majority, but I believe there are enough anti griefer players to make some kind of an impact. Complain to Rockstar in feedback that you don't like being griefed. Rockstar doesn't consider our being griefed as a bug but that's where I complain to them most now, in their bug report area. Bottom line, Rockstar wants us to be griefed, at least at this point. You have to accept that going in. Once you accept that, you determine how or if you want to deal with it. I know some people that have left the game. I know some people who only play in glitched lobbies so the griefers can't touch them. Or you can basically just keep replaying the missions that will keep you out of free roam. Or you could take the advice that some here offer about always running away and changing lobbies. You'll have to figure out how you want to deal with the environment now that your money has been spent but let Rockstar know if you're not happy with the game they're giving us right now.
  14. Again, without real numbers, we're both just swingin' in the wind. While I'll admit I do believe me and mine are in the minority, I think it's more than just a few. I visit a few boards and there are others still complaining about griefers. I'm not really social yet of the five people I've had some dealings with in game, three of them left because of griefing and two are duping to make money--I never see them playing, just duping (and I don't judge them because they send me invites to their special lobbies [which I just use to solo, nothing else]). I actually thought Defensive was going to be similar to that--then I logged in the morning it dropped and was shotgunned in the back. That system would definitely make more sense to me than the mess that I find it now.
  15. Your lock analogy works for me but only to a point. There are good padlocks, there are better ones and then there's the best. Defensive mode would only be classified as good by me (if that advanced). Rockstar has gone on record as saying that Defensive mode is working as intended. That new hunting mode "with weapons and offensive attacks against other players disabled" sounds like more of what I want RDO to be. At the end of the day, Rockstar wants people to be griefed. Period. Oh, and I'm one of the "other than a few" who want an invincible mode as long as griefers are online in this game. (Please note that I put "few" in quotes because I really feel you're wrong about "But other than a few"--but neither of us have data to back it up, so...).
  16. People have been getting killed in camps forever. Personally, I've only seen it happen when someone used a sniper rifle and they were far away from the person's camp, but it can happen a number of ways. Not that it would have helped you, but did you have Defensive mode on? Also, do you have the video? I make it my business to send Rockstar videos showing how they are allowing players to be griefed while playing. I haven't seen the video yet, but I heard that the Rockstar team was griefed while doing their live stream. If true, that's the best news I've heard about the game in awhile.
  17. Apparently what some of us expected when we first read about RDO is easily accomplished-- "Wild Animal Kills Challenge. Accept an invite to this new Free Roam Event to pit yourself against other sportsmen with weapons and offensive attacks against other players disabled – so the focus of this Free Roam Event is squarely on the hunt." Rockstar is just being a p*nis about it. I don't necessarily like playing on glitched solo/passive servers, mainly because I feel Rockstar has a right to do with me as they want if they catch me--but I won't stop doing it until I can play without being griefed by any bully that can afford to purchase the game.
  18. I'm not sure, but the way I read the OP, he wasn't describing Defensive mode. He was describing a passive glitch mode that Rockstar had patched. His quote is "I enjoyed a few hours of no hassle hunting in tumbleweed with out a hole griefers attacking me in packs. Now it seems this way of entering passive mode has been patched much to the annoyance of many players." That definitely is not a description of Defensive mode but of a glitched server. I'm not sure if he's aware or not, but there are numerous other ways to accomplish what he is looking for, none of which seem to be sanctioned by Rockstar. I take that back, Rockstar says in their new hunting mode you can't be griefed. Interesting that they choose to do it only in that new hunting mode--for now. After Defensive dropped, it was obvious it wasn't a passive mode--what wasn't totally clear was what Rockstar hoped to accomplish with such a weak attempt to prevent griefing. Again, I acknowledge that I get griefed less with Defensive mode (was that Rockstar's intent, less griefing as opposed to none?) but not enough to keep me from playing in glitched solo/passive lobbies most times. YodaMan 3D said: "Yes, players being griefed can quit, change servers, sending nasty messages to the griefer. Why does it always have to those options? " And that is the question. Even players that seem to be sympathetic to PvE players offer those as solutions. They're not solutions to me. That's not how you deal with bullies.
  19. I kind of agree that this debate isn't going anywhere--but I also realize it will not go away either, especially with a topic titled "passive mode." This topic title invites the debate and whenever passive mode is mentioned, it will probably reoccur. And it should, as far as I'm concerned. Some players just don't feel bullying/harassment/griefing should be acceptable in a game advertised the way RDO was. If you enter a topic titled "passive mode," you should expect this same debate, hopefully being discussed with civility. And I believe this conversation was civil.
  20. Low level nothings or ugly full grown griefers--I can't sort them out, I want them all out of my game. And believe me, I already want more changes. A fun and fair environment I could play solo, as advertised, is what I'm looking for.
  21. You're absolutely right in my book and I have the Defensive mode griefer deaths to prove it--though I must admit, I have fewer griefer deaths now when I play in regular lobbies. So Defensive does work to a degree. My opinion, of course, but Rockstar wants griefing to take place in game. It's pretty obvious when they introduce a new mode that will let you hunt in peace while playing but they won't do it in free roam (I haven't tried that new mode yet and probably won't). When I want to play in free roam, especially fishing, I still seek out glitched solo/passive lobbies--and I'm usually sharing these lobbies with dupers.
  22. "Prove your status as a big game hunter in the new Wild Animal Kills Challenge. Accept an invite to this new Free Roam Event to pit yourself against other sportsmen with weapons and offensive attacks against other players disabled – so the focus of this Free Roam Event is squarely on the hunt." An example of what Rockstar can do when it wants to. I love their game (for what it could be), but I really hate Rockstar.
  23. I would welcome Rockstar sanctioned private/friendly/passive lobbies but they don't seem to be a priority yet. As far as what Rockstar could do, I'd settle for players not being able to shoot/lasso/attack me when I'm in Defensive mode. It's obvious Rockstar tweaked the game so that normally (while in Defensive mode) a player can resist griefers' bullets to a degree. Rockstar could have tweaked it up even further if they wished but they seem happy to let players get grief killed and then press charges (which apparently amounts to almost nothing). Why even allow players to press charges when you could stop them cold if you really wanted to? I love their game but Rockstar is a joke to me. I've never been so ambivalent about wanting to play a game I want to fail.
  24. It's become pretty apparent to me that Rockstar doesn't care about griefing, at least to the extent that some players do--at least not to the extent that Rockstar said they would in their RDO promotional material. Some players that I know will not come back, some forum board posters still remain absent. I've submitted videos of griefing after Defensive mode dropped and was told that griefers can attack you and then my responsibility is to press charges--rather than Rockstar making it so these griefers can't attack me in the first place. So I've accepted that's where the game is now. First thing I do when logging in is go Defensive (and the fact that I have to do that every time I log in also shows Rockstar's attitude). I'm enjoying playing/replaying the missions and hope even more are quickly added. I do still hunt in free roam because I feel the fact that I have a gun in hand scares off some potential griefers. Even I have to admit I get griefed a lot less now with Defensive mode. But I'll state it here just as I did to Rockstar support and feedback--when I log in to enjoy a peaceful fishing session, I do it in glitched solo/passive lobbies.
  25. Yeah, I guess it comes down to what an individual finds acceptable in this game, coupled with what one expected when he signed on. And, being totally anti griefer, Defensive mode still isn't quite doing it for me. No, I'm not going to do some rant about how I'm never going to play this game again. The missions are great fun for me and Defensive mode does cut down on my encounters with most of the griefing community. And when I really don't want to be bothered, I find a glitched passive lobby. But I'm of the belief (based on what the game originally purported itself to be) that I shouldn't have to spawn in one place to avoid griefers or visit only certain butchers at certain times for safety. But I can deal with it, at least occasionally, when I want to "get my cowboy on." What really ticks me off is that Rockstar has alienated some players for good with their rather mealy-mouthed approach which really doesn't go far enough to protect players who expected more.
