Saltyballs I have the same problem, been trying to posse up for missions last few days, and being successful about one in ten tries. Lots of server-jumping involved. I wish I could choose not to be added to dishonourable posses, it's doing my rep no good. I've tried forming my own temp, limited success. In answer to your question, I'm not sure randoms like myself get put into persistent posses, only temporary ones, always been the case for me. I assume if you set up a persistent it's invite-only.

Hitting L1 usually fixes it. Always happens when you put your fishing rod away.

I'm pretty sure the servers are regional, I've been playing at all points in 24/7 recently. The numbers active don't change in Free Roam, missions or Showdowns, but there is a marked variation in Races, much bigger fields during the day, falling away to fields of even three or less by the early hours. This is what makes me think it's European only, Also, in weeks of playing I've only come across a couple of North Americans and no South or East Asians, no Australians, no South Americans. I know not everyone broadcasts, but those areas aren't exactly known for quiet people. To be clearer, of course I know we're all playing the same game, it has the same options for behaviour and the same guns. I'm sure what's being discussed (griefing behaviour) happens all over. I do wonder about how prevalent it is though. I've also been wondering whether the amount of audio communication people use makes a difference. If we don't communicate, we only have very limited information on what other players are doing, and why, and we need to be aware of that. And maybe encourage more of it, cos maybe that will remind people that we're not just bunches of pixels...

I assume, though I'm no expert, from the languages and accents I hear, and the activity levels over 24-hours, that I'm playing on RDR2 European servers. Are others here playing on American or Asian servers and is there a difference in how people play and the griefing experience? I wonder if there's cultural stuff involved?

Patching away this "throwing on the ground"-movement?
cory206 replied to Hypnoskully's topic in Red Dead Online
My thought is that the only place other players can win is in your own head, if you let them. As you already identified, people only throw themselves on the ground like pussy footballers when they can't use the other tools available. Let them, then shoot them. -
For fun, what's your horse's name/names?

For fun, what's your horse's name/names?
cory206 replied to Major Dammidge's question in Questions & Answers
They're all great names Major. I currently have a big white shire called Meg, she used to be Tam O'Shanter's mare before she took partial retirement, came over on the boat with Esther, my main is a Standardbred I reluctantly had to call Black Butch, it's a long story, but the name I wanted wasn't acceptable to Playstation, so I had to change a letter. There's an innocent explanation, honest... And I keep Rick Astley in the stable, only bring him out now and again to Rickroll nosey-parkers. -
You just haven't got the right recipes yet...

Ok, so I managed to repeat it, so I'm down in the hold and realise I can antagonise the locals by shooting at them but they can't get to me... Be careful where you're shooting down there, there are lots of explosives and combustibles!
-
This is fab, I went to explore the boat docked at Thieve's Landing. Down in the hold I jumped on a shelf and glitched and the whole superstructure of the boat went invisible, right? So this is cool, I'm looking out about water level, and can see above and below the water, right? Then this guy comes walking up, on the sea floor, from the Quaker's Cove bay, he looked like Jesus... and then he lit a cigarette *underwater*! so now I'm convinced it was Him... btw it looks like a Dead Zone down there, no corals, no shellfish, just dead mud, must've been an oilspill...

The only door I've opened with it is the door onto the balcony from the upstairs gaming room in the saloon in Armadillo (or Tumbleweed?) and that was a whole bit pointless...

Did you notice any Parley options come up? I thought the most a single player could kill you was X3 before you had the option to parley, though I admit I don't know how that works with posses. Anyone know? Does the Duel/Parley option appear if you are killed successively by different posse members, or can a posse take turns killing someone to avoid this? I still find posses a mystery, I feel a headset is essential. Only one way to solve that mystery I suppose...

Yesterday was the first time I really suffered this, spent ages hunting in the swamp, rode to Rhodes to be safe and got shot in the head *at the actual butchers*, again, but this time the guy just sat on a buggy in Rhodes Main Street ghosting, other traffic going through him, for ages, denying me my fair return headshot. Do I let it spoil my fun? No way San Jose, I jumped into a race and forgot about it in 30 seconds. those feelings ain't no use to me...

RDR 2 ONLINE - Sleeping in your own camp?
cory206 replied to Zanarkand Wolf's topic in Red Dead Online
Look at it this way, it's never referenced in the game, but Arthur has the secret power of time travel, shhh, just don't, but to get it, he had to agree to be trapped in his own bubble world. You are not trapped in his bubble reality, you live in a world with other people, but you had to give up the power of time travel to get free... seems obvious. -
I'm a simple sort, I start off most sessions by finding an NPC with the fancy hat I want for that session... melee, pick up hat, sorted. Sometimes I even get to take the hat into Series with me (though sometimes it doesn't come with me)... It's the little things...

Yes to any and all of that list Poggy, each one of those suggestions would add goodness to the RDO experience without a doubt. I could add one more - just let Cripps speak, or better still, respond! All that silence in camp unsettles me, make him play his harmonica, fart occasionally, anything!
-
That's two more than I've got...

But the point is it says it on the box - BETA, nothing guaranteed. It also *asks* for you to feedback to R* any issues. So coming in here and posting like that is a bit pointless and has the look of trolling. You know how to enjoy the game, I bet your outfit looked great, so get on and enjoy it 🙂

I think I found an anti grief measure already in game
cory206 replied to madfretter's topic in Red Dead Online
Sorry Kean, bit of stray crossfire there... s'ok, I've probably said enough on the subject, I guess I chewed on a bit after being accused of having "the focus of a squirrel on meth" and "wax(ing) poetic about the * badger pelt you just sold"... it hurt a bit, cos you don't get to Level 42 of the game on 1* badger pelts alone, that's all... -
But john, the stuff you need GOLDBARS for is purely aesthetic, purely for the looks. Everything you need to get your better stirrups (and guns etc) you can do in the game and cost silver dollars, not gold. If you want a fancier hat or nicer-looking stirrups, that's where the gold comes in. The game's not "in a BETA so they say", it IS in a BETA, that's the point, it's not perfect, and it won't BE perfect, no game ever is, I know, I've been playing them since the 70s, but RDR2 is the best game yet and they're still improving it. No-one is forced to buy Gold, and it seems to me R* have spent more time giving gold AWAY since the launch, no one is being milked and no-one is milking. I got a lovely blouse with some of my gold and it made me very happy. The thrill didn't last long of course and I was back at the dress shop before long...

It does say Free Roam, not Free Summary Execution. I get your point, not saying it shouldn't be there, there are opportunities within the game, and ways to get into fights from the (limited) interactions we can have, I've enjoyed getting into fist fights in the saloon after a few whiskies which spread out around Valentine, and surely it's better from a RP point of view (at least in your own mind) to manufacture that kind of fight than to snipe people from a distance as your introduction. Yeah, it feels a bit limited sitting there waving at people, or fumbling to try a good spit, I wish there was more varied interaction options, staying within the character. That would be a step forward for me. As it is, the huge step forward in the visuals of the game are my weakness, it's when I get distracted by the technical marvel on the screen that my head is mostly a target for snipers. I suppose it's an interaction, of sorts, and only yesterday am unprovoked snipe set me off on half an hour's back and forth, I got the varmint, don't you worry 'bout that. So I get the fun, but as someone who's probably here because it's NOT just a shootin' game, it would be good if the interactions were more than gun-shaped...

I've had that too, it doesn't always appear as an option, but when it does it doesn't work. It's a problem that one big fish is the limit from a cash perspective. I once ran all the way from the swamp up to Rhodes carrying a big Catfish with one on the horse, Not worth it. The only good spot for big fish I've found is near the butcher in Blackwater because of the carry distance, but that carries a risk, obvs. If the breakdown worked I wouldn't have to throw so many back. Hopefully it's a bug they'll fix.

You're the one playing 6-8 hours a day online with your friends, and if you're all making jokes all day long you must be in a good mood, so good job R* for that too. Just saying...

I think I found an anti grief measure already in game
cory206 replied to madfretter's topic in Red Dead Online
I'm not saying it's never justified, for instance I don't hang around on the roof near the butchers in St Denis with a rifle in my hand, and if I did then yes, take me out, but I've been there, I know where I mean and if you know you've been there too, know what I mean? And everyone's idea of loitering is different, I'm loitering right now as I write this. If I pass someone's limit of two minutes then I'm at risk of being alerted by a shot to the head, I know it, but I just don't want people to think I'm the griefer, when they're the ones going around summarily executing innocent bystanders. It's all relative, but we do what we do by choice. I'm really not trying to get at anyone here. Maybe I'm annoyed at the (other) posts I read in here from people so out to attack the game for things that are entirely under the players' control. -

Ok, I'll put it plainer. If you go around shooting people you have decided are griefers, then you Kean are a griefer. It's ok, you're part of the game, I just think people should own their actions.
