I agree, which is why I liked it so much. I view it as an accomplishment on their part, they successfully increased interest and excitement for their game without giving us anything new. Which results in us having plenty to discover on our own. I personally was worried they would give away too much, an example being explaining in too much detail how missions will work. Instead, we were shown some mind-boggling scenes from the game, while vaguely telling us what to expect.

Here is link to rockstar website to watch trailer (much better to watch there than on YouTube): https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/videos?id=12103 I might add that it was an incredible 4 minutes, without a doubt GOTY and unofficially GOTG

What is your biggest fear for Red Dead Redemption II?

That the campaign will at some point end -
Xbox: Alexarmydude1 (I am aware of how bad it is)

Agreed, he had all the leverage in this scenario. Why not use it for a nice payday?

Am I the only one who is going to have a hard time hunting in this game? I don’t think I could bear listening to an animal in pain, or watch myself skinning something in great detail. Getting my food exclusively from stores might be the route I take. I know I haven’t played it yet, just going off what I have read.

I did as well, I don’t know why they got into borderline spoiler details. As much as those two bothered me throughout the video, I still was blown away by what they said. There is seriously no way that this game will not go down as one of the greatest ever, how could it not? Then I read in some of the comments that people just want more gameplay footage or even a demo? These people are just used to getting cheap thrills and can’t bear to wait for the actual game to come out. I think I am more excited now than if they had just released another gameplay video, although I will admit I could be alone on that opinion. I just can’t put into words how excited I am for this, too be honest.

I have the exact same problem! I purchased the new Xbox one x a while ago and have found that I have only used it a handful of times. I basically bought it only to play rdr2 on it. There really isn’t anything that grabs my attention or comes close to what I know rdr2 will be. It has just been collecting dust recently. The only game(s) I have played on it is rdr and a bit of sea of thieves with the Xbox enhanced function. So basically waiting for the 26th.

NEW INFO: Red Dead Redemption frontiers and towns
TheBaconator replied to Benjo's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I think it will be the latter, and they will drop the next gameplay trailer in the first week of October. Though I honestly haven’t the slightest clue about when they will release the trailer. Pretty sure that they will be dropping new info every week though. -
NEW INFO: Red Dead Redemption frontiers and towns

Really cool screenshots, I am hopeful that they will show just the right amount without taking away the sense of discovery. I honestly don’t need any more footage, these seem to do it for me. -
Mixed Feelings about gameplay video drops before launch.
TheBaconator replied to Fribbo's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I very much agree with you on this, the first month or so of waiting was near insufferable. At this point though, I think we should just wait it out. It is rare nowadays that you get to truly discover a game without having every corner shown to you by the developers. Like with the new assassins creed game, they have gone over everything there is to know, including their main city of Athens. What left is there to explore? I’d rather wait to discover most of the game on my own. That’s what I appreciate about rockstar, every bit of footage so far has revolved around a single town, except for black water of course. They actually care about saving the experience for the consumers. I probably couldn’t help myself when they release the next video, but otherwise, I would be fine waiting. -
Never knew there was a welcoming thread, and although I am a few weeks late to this I still welcome you! Alas, I too am a Xbox owner, who Is currently in denial about the lack of console exclusives. At least we will get rdr2 dlc early right? Never mind...

Ok thank you, I will give it a try!

Do any of you know if there is a way to set a custom background that does not include manually downloading a file onto a thumb drive and uploading it to my Xbox? Really been wanting to set my background to one of the screenshots of RDR2.

There are people who will never play RDR2
TheBaconator replied to Benjo's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Here is link to exclusive article from the Hollywood Reporter about RDR2: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rockstar-reveals-plot-details-red-dead-redemption-2-1139857 If it was even possible to be more exited for a game this has done it. While no new screenshots or gameplay we do get some story details. -
What do you think? There are obvious differences between the two, but they are similar in many ways as well. Just some fun speculation to occupy the time until the next bit of news on RDR2. I personally do not think these two are the same, as their specific outfits differ slightly.

Dutch Wanted Poster Published By Rockstar
TheBaconator replied to Fribbo's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I certainly hope you are right, but I suspect that they would announce it in a more explicit manner. You never know though, they might surprise us. If not this week, it will be next without a doubt. -
I might have to copy you on that one, interesting idea. I hope they have a more minimalistic choice for the HUD to go alongside the classic minimap. Maybe something along the lines of the Skyrim bar HUD.

Apparently, at the end of a week long GameStop conference for its employees, Rockstar decided to show some previously seen gameplay footage to them. This resulted in mixed reviews. As far as I am aware, this is the same gameplay demo they showed to a select few media groups back a few months ago. At the time everyone was blown away by it, but now the employees felt inclined to post their feelings about their experience on Reddit. More than a few of these are negative, or at least in part. What do you think about this? I suspect that their viewpoints were biased in that this was the last day of a very long week and not all of them understand what immersion means. I personally am a bit put off by this. From their descriptions, a “ Horse riding simulator” is exactly what I am looking for, instead of instant gratification you tend to get in FPS games nowadays. OFFICIAL GAMEPLAY TRAILER DISCUSSION THREAD
TheBaconator replied to Benjo's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Something I heard from a couple of videos on rdr2 trailer is that the snow scene might be taking place during the great blizzard of 1899, if I remember the name correctly. If so that is obviously in keeping with the realism theme that rockstar has established, but what I am wondering is how far they will take this? Based on the dialogue from that scene, food is a real issue. So what if in this instance hunting became mandatory for the survival of you and the camp? And because of it being winter and the blizzard, wildlife was scarce and hunting became an all day activity of tracking one specific animal. There is so much potential for realism here it drives me crazy not being able to play it. I also am worried that they might, rightfully from a business perspective, tamper down some of these aspects to suit the masses. What do you think? -
OFFICIAL GAMEPLAY TRAILER DISCUSSION THREAD

GOTG? Or too soon? No words to describe some of those vistas, truly stunning. They have achieved next gen graphics on current gen hardware. -
Looking to pre order rdr2 soon and just wondering if special edition is worth it to you guys? If not will get standard edition but at the same time I don’t want to miss out on anything.

Why is Strauss Zelnick downplaying RDR2?
TheBaconator replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I'm not sure if this has already been answered on here so forgive me if it has, but why was Zelnick downplaying RDR2 so much when talking about how it is a good thing to be skeptical up to the day of release? It is in stark contrast to earlier interviews I think. I am not at all implying that it will do as well as GTA, but isn't it strange to seemingly say to manage your expectations?
