  1. Horses in Red Dead Redemption 2 are more than just mounts. Instead of simply being a four-legged method of transportation, horses are companions to Arthur Morgan. They carry your items, your kills from hunts. They're portable wardrobes and inventories. Since bonding with a horse will grant you benefits, chances are you'll spend a lot of time with one - so what should you name it? Naming characters in RPGs is a notoriously time-consuming process. While the case is different in Red Dead Redemption 2 - Arthur Morgan is a set character - a light version of the same problem can arise when faced with the prospect of naming your horse. One the one hand, you can always hit up some random name generator and roll with it. However, you can also check out this guide for some ideas. In the months since the game's release, many players have asked this very question. Over at our forums, fans have come together to share horse names and suggestions in a pair of threads. Feel free to check them out, but we've taken some of the best suggestions and put them here. When it comes to naming your horse, there are four sources from which to draw that are best. Popular Culture This may be the most obvious. Named horses appear in media all the time, spanning all kinds of mediums and genres. Whether it's from books or movies, whether from fantasy stories or one of those typically emotional "horse stories" that seem to be a gender on their own, there are plenty of options. For White Arabians, Shadowfax is a particularly good pop-culture name. The horse of Gandalf in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings novels, Shadowfax understands human speech and could run "faster than the wind". While the White Arabians of Red Dead Redemption 2 possess no magical abilities, the name is still cool. Other good names include: Epona Bojack Spirit Maximus Pegasus Artax Those hardly cover the vast breadth of pop-culture horse names, so there are plenty of choices if none of the strike your fancy. But for the love of god, don't use names from My Little Pony. Geography Horses being named after geographical locations isn't uncommon either. A particularly popular practice is to use the names of states in the USA for the horse. Dakota is a good example, since not all states lend themselves to horse names - take "New Jersey" for example. Looking outside the USA, one can check geographic names from South America and the Hispanic peninsula that could fit the game's setting nicely. Real-life Horses SeabiscuitWhat better omen than to name your in-game horse after a real-life champion? As big an industry as horse racing was in its heyday, the top steeds were veritable stars. Horses like Secretariat, Seabiscuit, Eclipse, Ruffian, and Red Rum all stole headlines in their time. Looking at these names these days seem a tad strange, but considering how different the world was in 1899, a bit of weirdness adds to immersion, even if the horses themselves come from different eras. Personal We can't offer you any examples in this regard, since you know you best. Have you any pets? A place close to your heart? Draw upon your memories and experiences for a name for your horse. This way you'll possibly feel more attached to the virtual animal much like a real-life Arthur Morgan would to his real-life horse. 2. Red Dead Online features several different competitive multiplayer modes all included in the Showdown Series. The playlist has been recently updated with a brand new mode called Gun Rush, which is, basically, another take on the battle royale genre already explored in the Make it Count mode. In this guide, we will take a good look at the Gun Rush mode and the available maps, as well as provide some tips that will help you become the very best in it. Mode Overview Gun Rush is a battle royale mode that plays very similarly to the Make it Count mode. Up to 32 players are dropped in one of the three available maps - Tall Trees, Rhodes, and Fort Mercer - with no weapons and items, which must all be procured on the map. Like in any other battle royale mode, the playable zone will shrink as the match proceeds, and players caught outside of the zone are eliminated. The last player standing wins the match. Despite a few similarities, the Gun Rush and Make It Count modes have some very distinct mechanics. While the latter only provides players with a limited selection of weapons, the Gun Rush mode features all of the Red Dead Online weapons, as well as horses, which actually make a big difference, as mobility is extremely important in all of the three maps. Additionally, players are indeed dropped randomly on the map in the Gun Rush mode, but only at the edges, which makes it slightly easier to come up with a consistent strategy. Another major addition only found in Gun Rush mode is armor, which prevents players from getting damaged when attacked from the front. As you will find yourself confronting another player head-on, having armor is extremely important in securing a victory. Tips As already mentioned, players are dropped randomly on the map at the beginning of a Gun Rush match, but only on the edges. While there are a few melee weapons located near the edges of the map, we suggest you ignore them to head straight into the middle of the map, where better weapons and items are usually located. You don't even have to worry too much about an enemy killing you if you do so at the very beginning of the match, as the other players are either unarmed as you are or only have melee weapons, which have terrible range and are not a threat at all. If you really want to grab a melee weapon at the beginning of the match, we suggest you avoid heading into the middle shortly after, as other players may have obtained firearms and may be waiting for any other player to show up to ambush them. Being a battle royale mode, knowing where items, weapons, horses and other players are is extremely important. In Gun Rush, the mini-map always shows their exact locations, so make sure to make use of this to plan your strategy and avoid getting into fights if you haven't acquired a reliable fire arm. Going for horses first is a very good strategy, as mobility is extremely important in all Gun Rush maps, and moving quickly will allow you to reach the best vantage points before anyone else does. Speaking about vantage points, the three maps are quite different in their layouts, but the general points remain the same: buildings, rooftops and any other location with high altitude that allows you to keep track of a vast portion of the map. This, combined with any scoped rifle, will allow you to kill opponents from afar with ease. Among the Gun Rush items, the armor is among the most important, as it will help you survive a direct confrontation with an opponent. It can only be found in chests, so make sure to open all those you find during a match to gain a sound advantage over the opponents. Maps Tips Fort Mercer The Fort Mercer map includes the fort itself as well as its surrounding areas. Due to the nature of the map, it makes no sense to stay outside the fort, as you will be easy picking, with no good cover. Once inside the fort, pick the weapons found in the middle of it, and try to get on the second floor as quickly as possible. Not only you will have a better view of your surroundings, but you will also find plenty of cover, which is not available on the much more open ground floor. Whatever you do in this map, avoid staying on the ground floor for too long, as other players have likely already positioned themselves on the second. It's also very easy to get cornered and get killed on the ground floor, due to the lack of cover. Rhodes The Rhodes map is definitely interesting, as it lacks any huge open space, with the exception of the grounds leading to the saloon. For this reason, heading into this building as soon as possible is the best thing you can do once a match starts, since you will be getting into the best vantage point of the entire map. Additionally, players make a lot of noise when walking on wood, so you will be warned of their approach beforehand by the sound they make, so you will have plenty of time to react accordingly. In case the saloon has already been claimed by other players, Rhodes provides plenty of other good vantage points. Any rooftop or balcony will do. If the match has been going on for some time, and you're in need of moving around the map, never do so at the center of the roads. Always stick close to buildings to avoid getting spotted, and sniped, by opponents on the rooftops. Tall Trees Tall Trees is very different from the Fort Mercer and Rhodes map, due to its layout lacking a real central zone. For this reason, it's very unusual to get into a short-range confrontation with opponents, so weapons with very good range, like rifles, are dominant in this map, even more so considering the map offers a lot of good cover spots like rocks, which make it pointless to run out in the open to engage enemies at mid and short ranges. The only reason you have for moving in the open is to reach the various camps found on the map. They usually include chests with armor, so it's a risk worth taking. Just avoid moving on horseback as much as possible: due to the map's layout, a player on horseback is an extremely easy target to kill. 3. It was about time. Red Dead Online, though still officially in the beta phase ever since its late November 2018 launch, has just received its first DLC. This new Beta Update brings a new game mode to Online and Rockstar also outlined their plans for upcoming content and changes to the game. The first new addition to the game, Gun Rush, is a PvP mode players can dive into right away. It's a variation of the Make It Count game mode that uses basic battle royale design. While in Make It Count you either only have a bow or throwing knives, Gun Rush adds firearms into the mix. You'll need to scour the playing field in order to gather weapons and ammo that let you gain the upper hand. Here too, the map shrinks over time, limiting the places where you can hide as well as the weapons you can pick up. The game mode supports up to 32 players and comes in two flavors - team based and free for all. Rockstar Games has also given a brief rundown of Red Dead Online's roadmap. Officially the game will stay in Beta for a few more months, which will see a huge amount of new content being added and tested. Changes based on player feedback are also being implemented, so let's look at those first. The developers are going to approach the issue of griefing with two new mechanics. Firstly, player blips on the map will soon become proximity-based, meaning you only see someone if they are physically close by. This means that if you can put some distance between yourself and the griefer, they can't follow you across the whole map. Another related mechanic is similar to GTA Online's mental state. Rockstar plans to implement automatic detection of griefing, with the detection range of griefers' blips being larger. That means that peaceful players can see and track griefers from a distance, but not the other way around. In this vein we can expect changes to the parley system as well in the coming weeks. Here, the changes are smaller, with the conditions being tweaked that makes the triggering of the system easier to deal with griefers faster. Posse Feuds and Leader Feuds will also be easier to start. Upcoming changes to the Law and Bounty system also affect griefing, showing that Rockstar is committed to stamping out the issue. The updated system will slap bounties onto griefers which, if not paid within an allotted time, will attract NPC bounty hunters across all states that home in on you. To further incentivize playing every day, Daily Challenges will also be added to the Red Dead Online beta. As these cover every aspect of the gameplay, you can use them to earn some extra cash and XP while practicing with those mechanics you're not entirely comfortable with yet. As for upcoming gameplay content, Rockstar was a little more tight-lipped. We can expect more Showdown modes and Races, which doesn't come as much of a surprise, as well as new clothing, weapons and other items. Dynamic events will be added to the game, and the Land Of Opportunities story will be continued with further missions that bring back established characters while introducing new ones. 4. Red Dead Online shares many of its features with the Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode, but a few others are completely exclusive to the online component, such as character creation. Thanks to the powerful editor included in the game, players can create a variety of unique characters that will contribute to making the world of Red Dead Online even more varied. Making a good looking character in Red Dead Online is difficult, however, as the editor comes with a lot of features that can feel overwhelming to most. In this guide, we will take a good look at how character creation in Red Dead Online works, and it's possible to create more than a single character. Character Creation As soon as you start Red Dead Online, you will be presented with a cutscene, introducing two unidentified characters who are soon going to be imprisoned. Once the cutscene has played out, you will have the option of creating either a male or female character. The character editor in Red Dead Online is not among the most in-depth editors ever created, but it gets the job done, allowing players to customize pretty much every aspect of their characters. Once you have made your selection between male and female, you will be able to name your character and alter his or her appearance. You can choose skin color, age and body build, so if you're looking to be the fattest or the slimmest outlaw in Red Dead Online, you have the option to be as ridiculous as you wish. Once these have been selected, you will be getting the chance to change the shape of your face. Here, things go rather in-depth, as you can alter the shape of your nose, mouth, jaw and ears, with the editor presenting you several different options. Funnily enough, you can also choose your teeth, but don't expect them to look pristine: outlaws in the late 1800s weren't exactly keen on keeping healthy teeth. Once the face of your character has been edited, you can change the character's hairstyle and beard, if male. While the physical appearance of your character cannot be changed currently once it's finalized, you can alter the hairstyle and beard by accessing any barber while in Free Roam mode, so the choices made in the editor regarding them are the only ones that can be radically changed after they have been finalized. After choosing hairstyle and beard, you're almost ready to unleash your character into the wild world of Red Dead Online. Continue by selecting the complexion, birthmarks and scars, and then the sound of your whistling when calling your horse. Once the physical appearance of your character has been decided, it's time to focus on something that's slightly more important on a gameplay perspective: your starting stats. During character creation, you have the chance to assign points to Health, Stamina and Dead Eye. While choices made here are not all that important, as they will only determine your starting stats, and not the cap until which they can be improved, it's also important to create a balanced character, otherwise, the beginning of the game will be a nightmare for you. Since Dead Eye is not as useful as it is in the story mode, due to the obvious removal of the slow down effect, we suggest you invest slightly more points in Health first, and Stamina second. Remember that once you finalize your character, you will be stuck with him or her for the remainder of the game, so don't exit the editor until you are absolutely satisfied with your creation. You can still make another character, however, but there will be a price to pay. Creating Multiple Characters Unlike Grand Theft Auto V's online mode, Red Dead Online doesn't allow players to have more than one character. Once it has been created, the character will be loaded automatically every time Red Dead Online is started. This, however, doesn't mean that you will be stuck with it for the rest of your life, as there is a way to create another character, at the cost of all progression with the exception of money and Gold Bars, which are permanently tied to your account, and not your character. To create a new character, you must delete your current one. To do so, enter the main menu while in Free Roam mode and select the Player menu. Once in the menu, you can delete your character by pressing the button prompted at the bottom right of the screen. Once again, just be absolutely sure of what you are doing, as you will lose all progression, including rank, unlocked and purchased items and so on. Changing your hairstyle, beard and make-up can go a long way in making a character look different, so head over to any barber first before taking such drastic action. 5. Red Dead Redemption features a colorful cast of characters who aren't just there to progress the story, but also to help Arthur in his quest to aid the gang that has become his true family over the years. Among the members of the gang that will provide help to the outlaw is the cook Simon Pearson, who not only provides food for the whole gang but also a crafting service which allows players to obtain a variety of items in exchange for animal parts. In order for Pearson to be able to craft all of the possible items, you need to purchase a specific camp upgrade, the Leather Working Tools. This upgrade costs only $180, so we suggest you purchase as soon as possible since some of the items that the cook can craft for you are extremely useful. In this guide, we will not only list all the items that Pearson can craft but also where to find all the required materials. Satchel Upgrades The most useful items that Pearson can craft are the satchel upgrades. These seven upgrades expand your inventory space for select item types, so getting them will allow you to carry more items which, in turn, can be sold for more money. Crafting these upgrades, however, is going to be difficult if you're not good at hunting since you need perfect pelts, hides, and skins to do so. Once you have one in your possession, donate it to Pearson by selecting the appropriate option when interacting with his wagon. Red Dead Redemption 2_20181026175305Valuables Satchel Increases carrying capacity for valuable items that can be sold for money 1 Perfect beaver skin, 1 perfect rabbit skin Materials Satchel Increases carrying capacity for inedible materials used for crafting 1 Perfect boar hide, 1 perfect iguana skin Provisions Satchel Increases carrying capacity for all provisions 1 Perfect bison hide, 1 perfect raccoon skin Kit Satchel Increases carrying capacity for hit equipment 1 Perfect elk skin, 1 perfect panther skin Ingredients Satchel Increases carrying capacity for edible ingredients used for cooking and tonic crafting 1 Perfect badger skin, 1 perfect squirrel carcass Tonics Satchel Increases carrying capacity for all tonics 1 Perfect buck hide, 1 perfect elk skin Legend of the East Satchel Greatly increases carrying capacity for all item types 1 Perfect wolf skin, 1 perfect cougar skin Cosmetic Camp Upgrades Alongside satchel upgrades, Pearson can also craft a variety of cosmetic camp upgrades. In order to get a perfect hide, pelt, skin, and carcass, you need to perform a perfect kill on animals that have a three-star rating, as they are the only ones that can drop perfect materials. To perform a special kill, you must kill the animal with the correct weapon and without damaging its body too much. As a general rule, small animals require the Varmint Rifle for perfect kills, medium-sized animals like deer the bow and arrow, and big animals rifles. You can check out our guide here for more information. To make gathering the materials required to craft all of Pearson's items, we will list the exact quantity needed and where to find the animal. Always remember that it has to be a three-star animal to get perfect materials, so make sure to analyze the animal beforehand while hunting to avoid wasting time. Perfect Bison Hide You will need a single perfect bison hide to craft all of Pearson's items. To get a perfect kill, you can use the Poison Arrow, with a single arrow aimed at the head, or get headshots with any rifle or sniper rifle. These animals can be found to the west of Blackwater, and in the Heartlands Overflow to the southwest of Annesburg. Perfect Boar Pelt You will need six perfect boar pelts to craft all of Pearson's items. Boars are found all over the Lemoyne region, near forested areas. To get a perfect kill, you can use regular arrows, poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. Always go for headshots to avoid damaging the animal's body. Perfect Rabbit Pelt You will need one perfect rabbit pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. Rabbits are extremely common, and they can be found in most areas near Valentine, Strawberry, Rhodes and Saint Denis. The only way to perform a perfect kill on rabbits is by using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shells. Perfect Raccoon Pelt You will need one perfect raccoon pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. This animal is common in the Lemoyne, New Hanover and West Elizabeth regions. The only way to get a perfect kill on raccoons is by using the Varmin Rifle loaded with 0.22 shells Perfect Beaver Pelt You will need two perfect beaver pelts to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are a bit tricky to find, as they are small and only spawn in a few very small areas, The best area to find them is near the E and R in New Hanover on the map. There are multiple ways to get a perfect kill on beavers: with the bow armed with arrow, repeaters, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Elk Pelt + Elk Antler You will need two perfect elk pelts and one elk antler to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are common in the coldest areas of the map, specifically in the Ambarino region and to the north of Annesburg. Getting a perfect kill on elks is easy, as you can use poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. Perfect Goat Hide You will need two perfect goat hides to craft all of Pearson's items. Wild goats are not that common, but they spawn quite often in an area a little to the north of Saint Denis, near the coast. To get a perfect kill on these animals, you can use the regular arrows, poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. Always go for headshots to avoid damaging the animal too much. Perfect Fox Pelt You will need one single perfect fox pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. Foxes are quite common in Red Dead Redemption 2, and they tend to spawn in forested areas in Ambarino and Lemoyne. To get a perfect kill on a fox, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, repeaters, rifle, and sniper rifles. Perfect Cow Hide You will need a single perfect cow hide to craft all of Pearson's items. Cows are found in several different small areas all over the map, but the best area is the same one where goats spawn more often, to the north of Saint Denis, very close to the coast. To get a perfect kill on cows, you can use the bow with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles Perfect Muskrat Pelt You will need just one perfect muskrat pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. This rodent is pretty common in several areas of the map, including areas to the north of Annesburg and to the west and south of Strawberry. The only way to get a perfect kill on a muskrat is by using the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots. Perfect Alligator Skin You will need one single perfect alligator skin to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals can only be found in the swamps surrounding Saint Denis, but they are quite common so it shouldn't be a problem to find them. To get a perfect kill on any alligator, you can use the bow with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. It may take more than a single shot to kill them with firearms, so you can use improved ammo to avoid damaging the animal too much. Perfect Snake Skin You will need two perfect snake skins to craft all of Pearson's items. Snakes can be found in several different areas, but the best one is near the road going from Saint Denis to the Van Horn Trading Post and Annesburg. You will need to flush them out, though, so use predator bait to make things easier. The only way to get a perfect kill on a snake is by using the bow with small game arrows. Perfect Wolf Pelt + Perfect Wolf Carcass You will need three perfect wolf pelts and a single perfect wolf carcass to craft all of Pearson's items. Wolves are quite elusive in Red Dead Redemption 2, and they can only be found in West Elizabeth and Ambarino. The area right above the "O" in Ambarino on the map is the best one to choose as hunting spot. To get a perfect kill on wolves, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles. Perfect Pronghorn Hide + Perfect Pronghorn Carcass You will need two perfect pronghorn hides and one perfect pronghorn carcass to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are extremely common in the New Hanover regions, especially in the areas next to the "New" in New Hanover on the map, and to the south of them, near Flat Iron Lake. To get a perfect kill on pronghorns, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows,, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Iguana Skin You will need one perfect iguana skin to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are quite rare, and they only appear in the northern part of the island on the eastern side of Flat Iron Lake. Once you reach the Epilogue, they can also be found all over the New Austin region. The Varmint Rifle with .022 rounds is the only way to get a perfect kill on iguanas. Perfect Panther Pelt You will need a single perfect panther pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. Panthers are very rare, and they only spawn in two specific areas: to the very south of Rhodes, near the river banks to the southeast of Braithwaite Manor and to the north of Saint Denis, slightly to the north of the "N" and "E" in Lemoyne on the map. To get perfect kills on panthers, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Buck Pelt + Buck Antler You will need one single perfect buck pelt and one buck antler to craft all of Pearson's items. Bucks are very common, and they can be found in the Lemoyne regions as well as in the northern parts of the New Hanover region, close to the border with Ambarino. You can use the bow with arrows and poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles to get perfect kills on them. Perfect Ox Hide You will need two perfect ox hides to craft all of Pearson's items. Oxes are somewhat rare on the map, and they spawn only in select regions in the New Hanover and Lemoyne regions. You can perform a perfect kill on oxes by using the bow with poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Deer Pelt You will need seven perfect deer pelts to craft all of Pearson's items. Deer is one of the most common animals in the game, and you will find them near forested areas all over Lemoyne and the eastern part of Ambarino. To get a perfect kill on them, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Cougar Pelt You will need three perfect cougar pelts to craft all of Pearson's items. Cougars are quite rare, and they mostly spawn in select areas in New Austin, such as to the south of Blackwater, near the southwestern side of Flat Iron Lake and to the northwest of the "A" in New Austin on the map. They can also be found in a very small area near the border of the map a little to the southwest of the "W" in West Elizabeth on the map. To get a perfect kill on cougars, you can use the bow with regular or poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Perfect Badger Pelt You will need a single perfect badger pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are extemely common in the Lemoyne region, near Rhodes and Braithwaite Manor. To get a perfect kill on a badger, you must use the Varmint Rifle armed with 0.22 shots. Perfect Squirrel Pelt You will need one perfect squirrel pelt to craft all of Pearson's items. These animals are common in all forested areas on the map, such as the forests near Strawberry, to the north of Annesburg, and in Ambarino and West Elizabeth. You need the small game arrow to perform a perfect kill on squirrels. Perfect Ram Carcass You will need just one perfect ram carcass to craft all of Pearson's items. Rams are easy to find in Ambarino and West Elizabeth, specifically in the areas close to the "West" on the map. To get a perfect kill on rams, you can use the bow with arrows or poison arrows, rifles and sniper rifles. Moose Antler You will need a single moose antler to craft all of Pearson's items. Mooses are quite rare, and they can be found to the west of Blackwater in West Elizabeth and to the north of Annesburg, in the areas close to the edge of the map. You need to kill mooses with the bow armed with poison arrows, rifles, and sniper rifles to get perfect kills. 6. Since it is unlikely that Red Dead Redemption will ever be ported to the PC, emulation remains the only recourse. The leading PlayStation 3 emulation team behind RPCS3 have made a great deal of progress in making the game playable. In their most recent video, the game runs better than ever before. Using the emulator allowed ZEROx to record gameplay mostly at 30 FPS. There were occasional drops into the low 20s, but that is to be expected. Even running on an actual PS3, Red Dead Redemption had the tendency to stutter at times. Should a perfect emulation be achieved, framerate drops will still be noticeable. During the 15 minutes of recorded gameplay, the occasional graphical glitch can be noticed. However, these are relatively few and far between by emulator standards. Aliasing is prominent, but other than that, the emulator brings the authentic visual experience of Red Dead Redemption. You get a bit of blurring, some popping textures, but all of that is to be expected. Overall, the game is absolutely playable and still manages to look great. It isn't exactly Red Dead Redemption in all its glory, but most of it at least. There is a bit of a caveat though. As always, emulating newer games is extremely resource intensive since your PC needs to simulate hardware with software. This CPU taxing task can only be carried out at these framerates by the highest-end processor. Which is to say the Intel Core i9-9900k, to be exact. The newest, strongest processor on the market costs over $500 and isn't what you'd call common hardware. Even if you would build a high-end gaming PC you'd go for a weaker (relatively speaking of course) CPU since the i9-9900k is overkill for gaming under regular circumstances. If rumors are true, we won't need to wait for the eventual appearance of PS4 emulation to be able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. After hints were discovered in the game's companion app that point to a PC port, a video was recently leaked online purporting to show footage of the graphical settings the PC version will support. The video looked very convincing, so we have high hopes for an eventual announcement. The reason why Red Dead Redemption hasn't been ported to the PC all these years in spite of obvious interest isn't known. However, we suspect that it has something to do with the partnership between Sony and Rockstar Games. Beyond timed exclusive content for Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4 and a marketing deal, it is possible that RDR being available on the PS Now streaming service precludes it from being ported to PC. We're eager to see how further optimization of RPCS3 will allow for cheaper CPUs to run Red Dead Redemption this smooth. The post Red Dead Redemption Emulated On PC appeared first on RDR2.org. 7. 2018 was a big year for Red Dead Redemption 2. Now that we're past the few early waves of bug fixing patches and Red Dead Online is up and running, it's time for the game to truly blossom in 2019. Rockstar has been open about their dedication to supporting the game with content going forward, so here are a few predictions and hopes for the game. Red Dead Online DLC It may not technically count as a prediction if we know for sure that it will happen, but here it is anyway. Red Dead Online is going to see additional content, following a model similar to Grand Theft Auto Online. DLC is going to be free for all players and is going to bring new activities, game modes, items and content for your to sink your teeth into. Expect plenty of new goods to blow gold bars on - the whole financial model behind the free DLC for these games is that they work as an incentive for people to buy into the microtransactions, which in turn generate enough revenue to make sure that future DLC is also free. What will these updates include? More clothes, more weapons, more horses, more Showdown Series types, possibly more Strangers missions. Rockstar may also be planning less conventional stuff that we can't predict off hand. We're eager to see what the very first Red Dead Online DLC is going to be! Story DLC This one is less of a given, but we're still confident and hopeful that Red Dead Redemption 2 itself will be expanded with further content, not just Online. GTA 5 got passed over for the single player DLC treatment because of the breakaway success of GTA Online, but maybe this time the situation will be different. That said, Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't exactly lend itself to a story expansion - the ending leads straight into Red Dead Redemption, and throughout the campaign, there aren't many time-jumps or blank periods that could be filled in with DLC. If there were to be story DLC added, it would likely act as a prequel. What happens before the events in Blackwater set off the story? Maybe we could get a glimpse of the early days of the Van Der Linde gang, and possibly play as a young Dutch? Undead Nightmare 2 This is more of a hope and less of a prediction since realistically the chances are pretty slim. That said, zombies never go out of style, and there would be plenty of ways to incorporate this into the game. We know that almost all of Red Dead Redemption's map is present in Red Dead Redemption 2. Mexico is inaccessible, but after someone found a way to glitch through the invisible wall, it was revealed that most of it is actually there, just devoid of props. An Undead Nightmare 2 expansion would be a great opportunity to add in a complete and explorable Mexico area. That Aztec mask could make a re-appearance, unleashing the zombie plague across the land. Since Undead Nightmare is non-canon by default, this happening wouldn't pose any continuity issues. What are your hopes and predictions for Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2019? 8. Red Dead Online allows players to enjoy the game with others and complete a variety of activities together thanks to posses, which are pretty much the game's clans or gangs. Every posse needs a camp, obviously, and players have quite a bit of control over the size of the camp they want to create, where to place it and so on. As camps are extremely important in Red Dead Online, even just to avoid having to deal with other belligerent players in Free Roam mode, learning everything there is to know about them is extremely important to make the best out of the online multiplayer mode. Camps Basics Camps can only be set by posse leaders. Inside each camp, the leader and all members of the posse can access the wardrobe, cook food and craft items. All members of the posse can also hide from groups of enemies if the camp has the white flag risen. To access the camps' flag, you just need to get close to it and inspect it using the Left Trigger button on Xbox One and the L2 Button on PlayStation 4. If the white flag is risen, other players will not be able to damage any of the camp's occupant. If the white flag is lowered, however, the red one will be risen, indicating that those in the camp are ready for combat. Flags in camps can also be changed in color. Doing so will cost $50 or 2 Gold Bars, which is definitely expensive, considering how hard it is to earn money in the game. Camps Sizes When creating a camp, you will be able to choose its size between small and large. The small camp can host up to four players, and it will require $1 a day for its upkeep. The large camp can host up to seven players, and it will require $2 a day for its upkeep. The camp's size only influences the number of players that it can host: facilities are the same in both small and large camps. Moving Camps Camps cannot be placed freely, but only in one of 12 different locations: Scarlett Meadows, Bayou Nwa, Big Valley, Cholla Springs, Cumberland Forest, Gaptooh Ridge, Great Plains, Grizzlies, Heartlands, Hennigan's Stead, Rio Bravo, Roanoke Ridge, and Tall Trees. Camps can also be moved to any of the 12 locations at any time while in Free Roam mode by paying a small fee. It costs $2 to move a small camp and $4 to move a large one. Camp Customization Once you have your camp set up and running, you can customize it with a theme which can be purchased by talking with Cripps, who acts as your dedicated assistant in Red Dead Online. Of all the themes, only the Standard theme is free, as the others can be unlocked by ranking up or by purchasing them. The Military Surplus Theme is unlocked at Rank 24, while the Traveling Opulence Theme is unlocked at Rank 38. The Hobo Life Theme is only available for purchase for $150. If you have purchased the Ultimate Edition, you can also use the Survivor Theme. This theme is currently exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, so it's not possible to unlock it in any way at the time. Camp Upgrades Like in the single-player story mode, it's possible to upgrade camps and enjoy some additional perks like improved cores restoration at camp and while in Free Roam. All upgrades need to be unlocked first by ranking up, which makes them available for purchase. The currently available upgrades are: Rank 15: Lean-To Tent - Refills Cores to 25% when entering Free Roam. Your Cores refill 50% faster when resting at Camp. Rank 22: A-Frame Tent - Refills to 35% when entering Free Roam, 75% faster at Camp. Rank 36: Tall Lean-To Tent - Refills to 45% when entering Free Roam, 100% at Camp. Rank 49: Open-Air Lean-To Tent - Refills Cores to 55% when entering Free Roam, 125% at Camp. Rank 55: Covered Lean-To Tent - Refills Cores to 65% when entering Free Roam, 150% at Camp. Rank 64: Covered Tent - Refills to 75% in Free Roam, 175% at Camp The final camp upgrade is the Fast Travel upgrade, unlocked at rank 65. Fast travel allows players to travel between 16 different travel points, including your camp, for a fee. The post Red Dead Online Camps Guide appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story
  9. Following a stellar late-October launch, Red Dead Redemption 2 continued selling strong in November. So much so that it beat other major releases to #1. Hit games from AAA franchises like Call of Duty, Fallout and Battlefield all lagged behind Rockstar Games' Wild West adventure. These stats come from the NDP Group's reports for US game sales in November. Red Dead Redemption 2 already made headlines with its financial success after it outsold the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption in just 7 days. It sold over 600,000 copies in the UK only a few days after launch and over 17 million copies worldwide in a little over a week. Red Dead Redemption 2 is followed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Battlefield V and Fallout 76. Battlefield and Call of Duty are both major franchises with casual mainstream appeal and are consistently among the best selling games whenever they are released. Fallout 76 was highly anticipated but launched to a seemingly unending stream of problems. These issues didn't prevent it from being a financial success, even if they did rob it of being a critical one. Red Dead Redemption 2 will probably continue selling high in December, with sales likely to be bolstered by the holiday buying spike. Many fans who didn't get the game at launch for whatever reason could buy it now or receive it as a gift. Red Dead Online players don't need to expect a sudden influx of new players just yet though, since most will likely play much or all of the singleplayer before moving to Online. Prior to release, Red Dead Redemption 2 was forecast by professionals to be a financial success, though most predicted that it won't eclipse the staggering sales of Grand Theft Auto 5. It is early to say whether or not they were right or wrong, since GTA 5 has had 5 years of sales across 5 platforms building up, but at this rate Red Dead Redemption 2 might just do the impossible. 10. Money in Red Dead Online is possibly even more important than in the story mode, as weapons and horses can only be obtained by first unlocking them in stores and then purchasing them. There are also fewer ways to earn cash in Red Dead Online, so you will likely end up being poor for a long time if you don't know the best ways to earn money. Red Dead Online features two different types of currencies: regular money, which is obtained by completing story and stranger missions, winning in the competitive multiplayer modes, and selling items. The second type of currency in Red Dead Online is Gold Bars, which can only be obtained by either: (1) earning 100 Gold Nuggets (which are then converted to a single gold bar); or (2) by purchasing them with real money. Gold Bars allow players to bypass the rank unlocking system and purchase any item even if it has yet to be unlocked, so they are a real commodity. In this guide, we will cover the best ways to earn regular money in Red Dead Online (without resorting to any exploit or hack either). Currently, Red Dead Online features a few story missions collectively known as the "A Land of Opportunities" missions. A total of ten are currently available in the game, but two of them are only unlocked if your character's Honor rating is low. Completing these missions for the first time will allow you to get money, XP, and Gold Nuggets as rewards. As this money making method involves playing story missions in a random order, you may want to avoid using it if you care about the story. These missions aren't particularly long or difficult to complete, however, so you can just play through them regularly to make some good money. To make some decent money early on, you want to play the Kill Them All, Each and Every One late story mission. You are rewarded $250 for completing the mission the first time and slightly more if you manage to complete the secondary objectives, making it one of the better-paying missions currently available in the game. Other missions aren't that lucrative, but they will still help you make some decent money early in the game. Once you have made enough money to purchase a good weapon, such as the Bolt-Action rifle, and the Varmint Rifle, you can start using other real money-farming methods and make yourself some cash. As a side note, repeating story missions through the story mission On-Call option is a good way to make additional XP to rank up. Hunting Getting a powerful weapon that is unlocked relatively early, like the Bolt-Action rifle, will allow you to make the most out of hunting, as bigger and more resilient animals yield the best items to sell. With the recent economy changes, hunting has become the most reliable activity in Red Dead Online to earn regular cash, as it does not depending too much on chance and luck. The best hunting spot is undoubtedly an area found in the western part of the Lemoyne region, to the east of Kamassa River on the map. This area is the best hunting spot thanks to: (1) the variety of animals that can spawn there, ranging from big animals like alligators to herons, eagles, pekin ducks and spoonbills; and (2) its location, as it's conveniently close to Rhodes. The animals are spawned randomly, however, so the amount of obtained money per hour will change depending on which are spawned and on your ability to make perfect kills to get the highest quality pelts possible As most of the animals that spawn in the area are small, the only way to get a perfect kill on them is with a Varmint Rifle, which is unlocked relatively early, at rank 8. For medium-sized animals, the bow is the best weapon to use to get Perfect Pelts. Against alligators, however, you need to use the best weapon you have obtained, so this is where the Bolt-Action Rifle comes in. It's high firepower will help you kill these fearsome animals with a couple of well-aimed headshots. Fishing Fishing used to be the best money making activity in Red Dead Online, but the recent economy changes dropped the price of salmon considerably. With fishing, it's currently possible to make around $180 per hour, which is not a bad amount, but far from the $300+ per hour that could be earned when Red Dead Online originally launched. While definitely a good money making method, fishing requires players to have played the game long enough to have met a couple of requirements: you need to get to rank 14 to unlock the fishing rod and rank 30 to unlock the Lake and River Lures, which are needed to fish salmon. In case you have some Gold Bars to spend and don't want to wait for rank 30, you can use one to purchase either lure. There are a few fishing spots where salmons can be caught, but two of them are the absolute best thanks to the fact that they are very close to towns. These spots are Owanjilla Lake, to the west of Strawberry and the Dakota River, to the southwest of Valentine. Owanjilla Lake is probably the best possible spot, as there are lower chances of being interrupted by other players, since most people don't travel here unless it's for fishing. Once you have caught 10 salmons, head over to the nearest butcher and sell them. Each trip will net you $25.00, which is not a bad amount of money at all. Treasure Maps Even with the recent economy changes, finding treasure maps is still the best money making activity in Red Dead Online. It's not the most reliable, however, as chances of finding maps outside of ranking up are low. Treasure maps in Red Dead Online work differently than they do in the single-player story mode. Online, treasure boxes are placed in random locations found in the areas highlighted by the maps, so you will need to keep attention to your controller's vibrations, which indicate how far you are from the box. Once vibrations become strong, use Eagle Eye and search for the yellow particles. Items found inside treasure boxes are also random, but they are usually worth a significant amount of money. Maps can be obtained in two ways in Red Dead Online. They are a reward for ranking up every 5 ranks past rank 10, so you will be getting a new map at rank 15, 20, 25, 30 and so on. You will eventually reach rank 100, however, and won't be able to obtain more maps this way once you do. The second way to obtain Treasure Maps in Red Dead Online is via clearing Gang Hideouts. These hideouts have the chance of spawning at several different locations found all over the map. Once you have killed all of the gang members found in hideouts, you will confront the leader, whom you can kill or spare. Your decision doesn't seem to influence the chance of getting a treasure map, so do whatever you feel like doing. Even if you don't get a treasure map from the gang's boss, you can still make some money by looting all corpses. The amount obtained will usually be relatively little, as looted items have incredibly low sale value compared to that of the single-player campaign, but it's still better than nothing. Competitive Modes If you're really not hunting and fishing, and the random nature of obtaining treasure maps is not for you, you can earn some decent money playing the Showdown Series and Races multiplayer modes. For the fastest possible results, winning horse races is the best way to go, as they tend to be shorter than a full run Showdown Series run. There are three different types of horse races in the Race playlist, but they are not all that different from one another, so get yourself a good horse, like an Arabian or the Missouri Fox Trotter, and win as many races as possible. In case both horse types are way out of your league due to either low cash or rank, you may want to use the Red Chestnut Superior, which is available for free, or the free Thoroughbred Horse if you have purchased the game's Ultimate Edition. As already mentioned, playing the Showdown Series is also a good way to make some money while having fun, but completing a full playthrough of the playlist takes longer than completing horse races. There are 5 different play modes, called Make It Count, Name Your Weapon, Shootout, Hostile Territory and Most Wanted, each one coming with its own rules and winning strategies. The amount of earned money varies depending on your placement at the end of each round. The post Red Dead Online Money Making Guide appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story
  11. The former buzz around a possible PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been more or less drowned out by the huge deal that the game actually being released (on PS4 and Xbox One only) was, however a new rumor may bring that discussion back into the spotlight. In the realm of leaks, the hierarchy ranges from text to photo to video in terms of least believable to most, and this time we have a video on our hands. Of course, videos can also be faked, they're just harder to do and easier to spot. In this case, we have something that looks extremely legitimate - and even if it isn't, the effort of making such a believable fake is impressive in and of itself. We're talking about a 26-second clip that shows a few moments of gameplay, with the rest being dedicated to showing off the options menu for graphical settings. As leaks often are, the video is out of focus and blurry, but you can still make out a lot of the options. The video shows that you can switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, change the resolution, toggle vSync and FXAA, adjust the refresh rate and tweak scaling and various graphical qualities. What makes the video even more believable is that it shows the resolution being changed, which would be rather difficult to fake. A few options that are generally standard issue are missing, but the footage doesn't show the whole range of options as whoever is controlling the game doesn't scroll completely down. All we actually see in the footage is the menu with a split second of Arthur taking a step forward before said menu is brought up. The button prompts show keyboard commands, though seeing as the Xbox One recently gained mouse and keyboard support, that isn't such a huge deal anymore. The menus look legit enough, and the resolution change is what really sells this leak. Now, even if we were to believe this - remember, no matter how convincing, nothing save official statements from Rockstar can be fully believed - it doesn't automatically mean that the PC version is near. A port like this would likely require a lot of optimization and tweaking, so provided the footage is legit, we're looking at a dev build of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, not anything ready to be released to the public. You can bet that there will be a large gap between release and announcement if this turns out to be real, and even the announcement hasn't happened yet. Fans are certainly interested in playing the game on their computers. A petition went up back when RDR2 was first announced and often you could see comments stating that some players would "wait until the PC version is released". We'll keep you up to date on any developments regarding a possible PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2. The post Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Leak Shows Graphics Menu appeared first on RDR2.org. 12. Rockstar Games has begun selling gold bars for Red Dead Online. Now that microtransactions have entered the game, it's certain that Rockstar won't be wiping progress once the beta is over, which lines up with what they've stated previously. With the microtransaction system in place, we now see just what kind of value gold bars really have. Most players are likely interested in the prices these packs cost. These prices give us the baseline to which we can compare the data seen in this economy overview, which tells us how much playtime is required to earn gold and how much gold items cost. The prices of the microtransactions are as follows: 25 Gold Bars (One Time Special) - $4,99 25 Gold Bars – $9.99 55 Gold Bars = $19.99 150 Gold Bars – $49.99 245 Gold Bars – $74.99 350 Gold Bars – $99.99 Now, if we refer back to that guide, we'll remember that 1 gold bar can be earned after 2 hours of grinding. Basically, an hour of your life is valued at $0.2 in Red Dead Online's economy when looking at the standard 25 Gold Bar pack. The 350 Gold Bar pack places even less value on your time. We know that the total cost of everything in Red Dead Online amounts to 2,134 gold bars right now - this will undoubtedly increase as DLC adds new items - which, based on these prices, is about $620. That's a pretty crazy number considering this isn't a freemium title, but a paid AAA game. Every player can purchase a one-time pack of 25 gold bars on a discount at $5 instead of $10, however, you can't repeat this and are stuck with the full price afterward. This is likely a way to rope in players with an enticing offer, and once the ice is broken, they're more likely to buy that $10 pack. Criticism has been raised against the current state of Red Dead Online's economy by the player base seeing as it takes unreasonable amounts of time to actually earn in-game currency. Seen by many as a deliberate tactic to make the purchase of microtransactions the only realistic way to acquire items, the move is considered ill-fitting for a paid game. Rockstar has promised to readjust the in-game economy. We'll see how things turn out when final release rolls around. 13. Developing a game as big as Red Dead Redemption 2 is a daunting task, but Rockstar Games managed to do so and release a game that's relatively free of issues. Some glitches are still found here and there, but this isn't a particularly bad thing, as it has allowed some players to find some unused dialogue that may hint at future DLC. Before we proceed further, we have to warn you that there will be massive spoilers for both Red Dead Redemption 2 and the original Red Dead Redemption, so avoid reading further if you have yet to complete any of the two games. 14. Leading up to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, rumors and high-hopes for other platforms beyond the PS4 and Xbox One getting the game swirled. The two main subjects of these rumors were of course PC and the newest arrival on the console scene, the Nintendo Switch. Now, in an interview, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's COO, has spoken about Red Dead Redemption 2 and why it likely won't appear on the platform. With regards to the rumors and speculation about Red Dead Redemption 2 on Switch, the general consensus was that an actual port is unlikely. Some named the console's hardware as the reason, however the fact that Bethesda's DOOM appeared on the console, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey saw a limited streamed release on the Switch in Japan, meant that technically it would be possible to, in some form, play Red Dead Redemption 2 on the platform. The second main concern was the incompatibility with Nintendo's profile. In spite of the DS, Wii and Wii U all having games with violent and sexual themes in their libraries, some still think Nintendo is so hell-bent on retaining their family-friendly persona that Red Dead Redemption 2 would have been too graphic to be picked up by the company. We now know that neither of these suspected issues had anything to do with the lack of a Switch port of Red Dead Redemption 2. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Fils-Aime touched upon the topic of Red Dead Redemption 2. He spoke highly of the game and outright said that they [Nintendo] would welcome the game on their platform. However, RDR2 had been in development for years already when Nintendo revealed their new console to publishers and developers in the industry. Since Red Dead Redemption 2 was the first game Rockstar had developed from the ground up for the current console generation, the underlying code was tailored specifically for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We’d love for it to be [on Nintendo Switch]. But again – and this is where there needs to be an understanding of just the development process – Red Dead has been in development for years, time that predated any communication of Nintendo Switch. So, from the developer’s mentality, they need to move forward and finish the game they’ve been working on and then be in a position to look at other opportunities. Red Dead Redemption 2 was extremely far along in development by the time Take-Two and Rockstar were notified of the Switch's existence, and the game had already suffered two delays meaning that the dev team really wasn't in a position to take on a new project, porting the game to Switch. While all this this doesn't exclude the possibility of Red Dead Redemption 2 making its way to the Nintendo console in the future, it makes it clear why it hasn't happened yet. Take-Two has been supporting the Nintendo Switch with games since day one, with some of their IP appearing in the console's announcement trailer. This clearly shows that both companies are keen on co-operation, so don't let those hopes of a future Nintendo Switch port of Red Dead Redemption 2 get dashed quite yet. 15. Rockstar Games worked for years on Red Dead Redemption 2, but work on the game was hardly done after its release back in October, as the team is not only working on Red Dead Online but also on fixing issues that are still found in the game's Story Mode. A few hours ago, a new Red Dead Redemption 2 patch, patch 1.04, has been released on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, bringing some improvements for both offline and online modes. Starting with the Story Mode, the 1.04 patch fixes several issues, like a few loading issues happening after the Country Pursuits, The First Shall Be Last missions. General loading issues which would freeze the loading process at 90% after loading an autosave or manual save have also been fixed. Lastly, an issue that could make players lose access to weapons and equipment in the weapon wheel after completing a mission replay in Guarma has been fixed. As already mentioned, the 1.04 patch also brings fixes for Red Dead Online. Alongside general stability improvements, the update fixes an issue that could make the temporary horse Scrawny Nag appear when whistling if the player removed an injured horse without healing, another where players are stuck in the house in the Love and Honor mission and several others. Full patch notes can be found on Rockstar Games Official Website. While the patch notes seem exhaustive enough, it seems like there are several undocumented changes introduced by the new update. According to reports from players on the Red Dead Redemption subreddit, fishing in Red Dead Online has been slightly changed, with a decreased rate of getting good fish that could be sold for a decent amount of money. It also seems like it's much easier to find Stagecoaches and Wagons following the patch, as showcased in the video below. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a massive game, but Rockstar Games is doing its best to fix the experience as much as possible in a short amount of time. More patches will obviously be coming in the near future, and we will let you know everything there is to know about them as soon as possible. 16. One of the more challenging activities you can encounter in Red Dead Online while in free roam is a Gang Hideout waiting to be cleared. These camps of enemy bandits pop up occasionally in fixed locations and clearing them carries with it the chance to acquire some valuable items or treasure maps. If you intend to complete challenge awards, you'll inevitably be directed towards these hideouts sooner or later. Gang hideouts can spawn in 24 locations. These spawn locations are fixed, but there is no guarantee that the camp will be there when you travel to the spawn point. Of the 24 locations, a few are just out in the open with no props in the game world indicating their presence unless they're spawned in. Thanks to a Reddit user who goes by Rock1Jump, we have a map showing each Gang Hideout spawn location. The two locations that the author marked as "makeshift camp" are the ones that aren't obvious unless the hideout has actually spawned in. When you clear gang hideouts, there is a chance that the gang leader will drop a treasure map that will lead to you valuable loot somewhere in the game world. The drop rate for the maps isn't known as of present, but it is definitely very low - some players report that after clearing 20 hideouts, they've encountered none, while others found just one after 12 cleared hideouts. At the same time, a few lucky players report drop rates of two out of two cleared hideouts or one out of four hideouts, but these seem like fortunate outliers - especially the former. Treasure chests can only be looted by the player who has the treasure map. The physical chest itself is visible to all players in the session and can be opened if they find it, but there will only actually be any loot inside if you have the map pointing to it, otherwise, it will be empty. Due to the sporadic drop rate, relying on treasure maps from hideouts isn't a good strategy for securing income. Instead, check out our money making guide for Red Dead Online. 17. As of today, the Red Dead Online beta is open to all players who own Red Dead Redemption 2 as per the rollout schedule. This no doubt means there will be a sudden population boom, and more players means more questions. In the early days of the beta, we have bee posting guides that touched upon specific mechanics of the game. However, if you need help in how to get started in the first place, you've come to the right place. Our other guides on Red Dead Online: Money Making Abilities Ranking Up Honor and Wanted Systems Fast Travel I've Made My Character, What Now? Red Dead Online is much more free-form than the story mode is, allowing you to access just about all activities right off the bat. In very basic terms, your role in Red Dead Online is to rank up and get rich. Ranking up allows you to unlock cool new abilities, features and items, while getting rich allows you to purchase those items, as well as various upgrades. Incidentally, both of these goals can be achieved by doing any activity in the game. Basically, everything you do will grant you XP and money, though woefully small amounts of the latter. Some activities also yield gold nuggets, 100 of which adds up to a Gold Bar. Right now progress in terms of money and item acquisition is slow, however chances are Rockstar will adjust the in-game economy before full release. How Do I Set Camp? If you are playing alone, you will have access to what is called a Player Camp. Functionally, the Player Camp combines the permanent gang camp and the small makeshift camp Arthur can set up anywhere in story mode. If you camp down and fly a white flag, it will become a non-combat zone where you don't need to be afraid of getting jumped by other outlaws. In your camp, you have access to a number of character management and crafting menus. Your wardrobe will be accessible, you can rest and cook, and you can purchase items from the catalog and have them arrive in your delivery box if you buy the necessary upgrade - otherwise they will arrive at post offices. If you are part of a posse, you can also access the Posse Camp which has a greater range of functionality, and its decor is determined by the posse's chosen colors and emblem. How Do I Join A Posse? Red Dead Online can be played alone, but is best enjoyed with a posse. It's a multiplayer game for a reason, and your Wild Western antics will be all the more memorable if you have other gunslingers to share the fun with. Posses are Red Dead Online's take on a general clan or guild system used in other games, however it is rather unique and very different from other such mechanics. First of all, there are two kinds of posses in Red Dead Online. Temporary Posses and Permanent Posses. The former works more akin to a raid group, while the second is more in line with the guild analogy. A Temporary Posse is free to form and is maxed out at 4 players, but disbands when the session is disconnected. Permanent Posses are better suited to larger groups who play together regularly. Maxed at 7 players, Permanent Posses automatically reform when the posse leader and at least one other member are online at the same time in the same session. These cost some money to form, but allow you to access the posse camp and customize your gang colors and emblem. To join an existing posse, said posse needs to be set to "open". This can be done by pressing left on the d-pad and selecting a desired posse from the menu. To form a posse, you do the same, and then invite players. As a posse leader, you can set the privacy of the posse, and all members will automatically follow you if you switch sessions, begin a mission or join a Showdown Series game mode. Someone Keeps Killing Me, What Do I Do? Red Dead Online has an interesting but somewhat flawed system in place to deal with griefers. The Parley and Feud system allows you to deal with being repeatedly killed by the same opponent in two ways. After you got killed by a specific player several times in a short period of time while in free roam, you can choose to Parley which sets off a 10 minute timer during which the two of you can't harm one another. Feud, on the other hand, requires the agreement of both parties. This triggers a brief 3 minute window where you are put into a fair-fight situation and a score is kept on how many times you kill the other player. Theoretically, whoever wins will have displayed their dominance, putting an end to the griefing. In reality, griefers are unlikely to agree to this, and even if they do, they'd just continue doing the same thing after it ends regardless of who wins. The problem with Parley, on the other hand, is that if the griefer has mates, they can just as easily keep killing you. An easy fix would be that if the person you Parley with is in a Posse, the other members of the Posse are also part of that Parley. Sure, they could just exit the Posse, but you can't have a completely foolproof system. This could be discouraged by limiting how often you can leave and rejoin the same posse over and over again. My Horse Died, What Now? Horses in Red Dead Online can die, leaving you stranded without a means of transportation. The introductory mission of the game walks you through the process of Horse Insurance, which removes the respawn fee of the mount for a one-time down payment. If your horse is not insured, each time it dies you need to pay to have it revived at a stable. With insurance, this is free. Note that the cost of insurance depends on how high level the horse is, so the best horses will cost fortunes to insure. I've Encountered A Bug Or Have A Suggestion, Where Do I Report It? Rockstar is actively looking for player feedback during the beta phase. If you have any to give, you can submit it here. The post Red Dead Online Tips For Beginners appeared first on RDR2.org. 18. Red Dead Online is only in its beta phase, and has only been accessible for a few days, but players are already criticizing the game's economy. While it was always fairly obvious that the game would feature some form of microtransactions, the cost of buying in-game appears blatantly geared to "encourage" players to buy in. A recent Reddit thread exploded after someone pointed out that A gold wedding ring sells for $1.15. A can of baked beans costs $1.50. Rockstar, before launching the beta, pointed out that this is a transitional period and that player feedback will be incorporated into changes made before final release. As it stands, the economy seems so broken that it is possible to play one's self into bankruptcy. However, due to the separation of regular and premium currency, meaning that when microtransactions go live you'll only be able to buy Gold, not regular money, things having a high dollar cost makes no sense. To illustrate one of the main issues, one user brought the example of winning a free-for-all shootout. His reward for beating 31 other players every round? $22. That apparently isn't even enough to cover the ammo costs. In Red Dead Online, ammo is universal, meaning you don't have a separate pool for instanced PvP. If you play game modes that don't take place in free roam, you still bring your own ammo. This means that it is possible to go virtually bankrupt. If you end up without enough money to buy ammo, you'll be severely hindered in your ability to make money at all. Food items and general consumables have incredibly high prices compared to the rate at which money can be earned. Group of outlaws scanning the barren wastes for the smallest scrap of material wealth, circa 1899.Equipment used to acquire goods to sell, like ammo for hunting or lures and fishing poles for fishing, cost significantly more than is possible to earn with any such activity, even after a very long period of time. Players describe instinctively looting everything and yet having almost nothing to sell, because consumable drops are much rarer than in single player, meaning they end up using all looted consumables. The cost of absolutely everything is so prohibitive that the most basic of general store items require actual grinding to afford, let alone significant items like horses or weapons. You can only sell things for extremely low amounts of cash, but the purchase prices are infinitely higher. It feels like the sell prices adhere to the era in which the game is set, but if you want to buy stuff, you'll need to pay prices that are more befitting of the modern era. With the large-scale controversy that this has kicked up, including the mentioned Reddit thread that has accrued almost 30,000 upvotes, over 2,000 comments and was given Gold twice, it is likely that Rockstar will address this issue. Players have calculated that it takes an average of eight hours to farm together a single gold bar. To fully customize a rifle you might need to spend 30 bars of gold. You can do the math... The fact that many items can't be bought with gold at all makes this grinding economy seem like a particularly odd choice. Even if you pay real money, you can't earn regular in-game currency faster, so what's the deal? It's almost certain that prices will be adjusted by the time of a final release for Red Dead Online, especially if you take the time to give Rockstar feedback through their site set up specifically for Red Dead Online beta testing contact. In the meantime, since the beta is now open to all players, you might be interested in our money making guide to make things just a tad easier. 19. At the beginning of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are pretty poor, but things improve as soon as you can start exploring the world, as there are countless ways to make money such as committing robberies, hunting bounties, selling parts harvested from animals and so on. Things, however, are quite different in Red Dead Online. Players start poor and can remain poor for quite a long time, since there aren't many opportunities to make money, at least for now. There's a way, however, to earn money quickly in the early game and making it easier to purchase good weapons and any other type of item. Unfortunately, this quick money making method has the potential of ruining the Red Dead Online story experience, as you will be playing Story missions that you may not have unlocked yet. If you don't want this from happening, just try to get through as many as possible before attempting to earn money through the method described below. Additionally, you won't be able to use it once you have progressed enough, so think long and hard on how to invest the earned money. To start making money quickly in Red Dead Online, you need to unlock the ability to Free Roam. Once this is done, you can open the Free Roam menu by pressing left on the directional pad. Select Quick Join from the menu and then Story Mission On-Call. By doing this, you will be joining an on-going Story Mission playthrough: the later in the story the mission is, the better the rewards will be. Unfortunately, there is no way to know exactly how much money you can make in a set amount of time by using this method, as some missions are more rewarding than others. There are a few ways to maximize profits, however: make sure to complete each mission without dying, as restarting from a checkpoint reduces the final reward for the mission, and avoid playing the same mission more than once, as you will only be rewarded with XP for repeated playthroughs. Investing the obtained money in the right way will also help you earn more money once you have completed several Story Missions through this method. Getting a powerful rifle, like the Bolt-Action Rifle, is a good way to go, as you will be able to get Perfect Pelts from big animals, allowing you to get some decent amounts of money for each one sold. 20. After revealing yesterday that the beta phase of Red Dead Online would launch today, the servers promptly became available to owners of the Ultimate Edition earlier when a large patch was released for the game. Gameplay footage from the multiplayer mode is already up on YouTube and Twitch, which you can see in the linked post, as well as a brief rundown of activities in Red Dead Online. Rockstar Games has posted about the launch and we've learned a great deal of new information from it. Like GTA Online, Red Dead Online has a leveling system. Just about every activity in the game provides you with varying amounts of XP, and as you increase your rank, your character will unlock new abilities and items. This means progression is a little easier to understand than in story mode. Award Challenges are contextual, global challenges that you can work towards at any time during the game. These range between the straightforward and generic, which require to you kill X number of Y enemy for example, while others are more complex and involved. This can be likened to the story mode's 90 challenges spread across the 9 categories, however in Red Dead Online you have a total of 12 categories in which there are Award Challenges. It's likely that as the game is expanded with DLC, more challenges will be added over time. An Ability Card system is used to add gameplay depth. Ability Cards, like the name suggests, give your character new abilities. These are acquired organically as you level up, or can be bought. Once you have an Ability Card, it can be further upgraded with money or XP independently of your own Rank. There are two types of cards: Active and Passive. You can have one Active card at any time, which gives you an ability you need to trigger while you are in Dead Eye mode. You can equip three Passive cards at any given time which affect your stats and confer bonuses you don't need to manually activate. The Honor system is also used in Online and is overhauled. Like in story mode all your actions will affect your Honor rating, but instead of being a linear rank system where the more honorable you are the higher your Honor Rating is, thus giving you bonuses, in Red Dead Online the honor system is more akin to a binary moral system used in RPGs. If you choose to be a crooked, dishonorable bandit, then you can roleplay as such and you're not "punished" by the game for it. In Red Dead Online the Honor rating determines what kind of missions you are eligible for. Some missions are locked unless you are in high standing, but conversely, some missions will only be available if you are sufficiently notorious. This way having low Honor isn't directly "worse" than having high Honor, it's just a different story experience. In addition to these Honor-related Strangers Missions (read more about them and competitive game modes here) there is a broader mission framework called The Land Of Opportunities. The Land Of Opportunities seems like what Rockstar intends to be the end-game content in Red Dead Online. Described as a 'deeper cooperative strand' with 'multi-part series of missions', you can expect something akin to the Heists in GTA Online. Not too much is known about these missions, and currently they are not available in Red Dead Online, but you can expect them to be added by full launch. Honor will play a significant role in these storylines. Red Dead Online's Posse system has also been detailed. It turns out that the game's take on traditional MMO "guilds" is very different from the approach of any other game. Firstly, it's two-tiered with temporary and permanent Posses available. Temporary Posses are formed with up to 4 players in any given session which disbands after the session is over or all players leave, leaving no trace of it behind. Forming a temporary Posse costs nothing, and has no impact on a permanent Posse. Permanent Posses are more akin to GTA Online Crews, but still different in many respects. Permanent Posses cost in-game currency to set up, but can fit up to 7 players and, like the name suggests, don't disband automatically. This is best suited for a group of friends playing together who want their version of a guild. Being part of a permanent Posse unlocks new customization options, and Posses have their own names, colors and logos. Buying items also works entirely differently than it does in Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead of there being specific stores for various item categories scattered across the world that you physically have to visit, you have a system that resembles a Wild West Amazon. The character at all times has access to a catalogue of items with their associated prices and variation options, which you buy via that catalogue and have delivered either to whatever post-office you wish in the game world or directly to your camp if you have the necessary upgrade. Camps also work differently than the one in Red Dead Redemption 2. Customization is much more in-depth, allowing for a greater control over the décor of the camp, and there are different upgrades available which tie into the gameplay differences between the two modes, like the delivery upgrade outlined above. Speaking of buying items, we also get a first look at what the microtransaction system will look like in Red Dead Online. A second premium currency, Gold, is added beyond regular money. Gold is much harder to earn and is usually acquired in the form of gold nuggets. 100 gold nuggets equal one Gold Bar, and this is the form of the currency that can actually buy stuff. Or, to be more precise, will be able to buy stuff. Rockstar has announced that the in-game store for premium items will not be active during the course of the beta. This is where you can spend Gold on cosmetic items, or purchase Gold in exchange for real money. Rockstar's statement makes a particular effort to highlight that only cosmetic items will be available in exchange for premium currency. Red Dead Online strictly is not going to be a pay-to-win game. This system differs from the model used in GTA Online. In that game, there is only a single unified currency that buys everything and anything. This is earned through regular in-game activities or can be bought for real currency. Red Dead Online's system seems to ensure that regular-use items will not be available for the premium currency, Gold, meaning all that must be earned, and only special cosmetics will be premium items. This is bound to be favored by players, and we think it is an ethical move as well. Separating regular in-game money from premium currency also answers a question we asked way, way back about gambling in Red Dead Online. Rockstar has also implemented a new system that seeks to mitigate griefing in the game. The Parley and Feud system is likely the result of 5 years of experience gained trying, with mixed success, to curb griefing in GTA Online. When one character repeated kills one other character, the algorithm kicks in, offering the player being repeatedly killed by the same guy to either Parley or Feud. If Parley is chosen, a 10-minute timer begins, during which the two characters involved cannot attack one another. You can't shoot the guy who has been killing you, and he can't shoot you either. Since griefers are creatures that crave attention and entertainment, 10 minutes is guaranteed to get them bored and out of your hair. This is a one-sided action, meaning if you chose to initiate Parley, there are no requirements. With Feud, however, you have the chance at a more violent resolution of differences. Feud must be agreed to by both parties, which then initiates a 3-minute timer and a kill counter. It sets up a fair-fight environment were, for 3 minutes, you have unlimited respawns dedicated to killing the guy you have a beef with over and over again. Whoever has the most kills by the end of it is the winner. Since griefers don't like fair fights, they likely won't often agree to Feuds, but that's why the Parley option is there. Rockstar has also warned players that progression during the beta may have to be wiped (hence no microtransactions or premium store yet). While the developers expressed a hope and desire to keep progress until and through launch carrying it over, it is very possible that at some point they will have to wipe ranks, items and mission progress to ensure a stable and bug-free game experience. If you have any observations, ideas or bugs to report, Rockstar is awaiting all kinds of fan input about Red Dead Online here. More info about features, modes and DLC will be revealed in the coming days. The post Red Dead Online Game Modes & Features Detailed appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story

  21. Yesterday, Rockstar Games confirmed that by the end of this week, all Red Dead Redemption 2 owners will be able to enjoy Red Dead Online. Not everyone, is able to do so at the same time, as only those who have purchased any of the game's Special Editions can enjoy the online multiplayer mode from today. A few hours ago, Red Dead Redemption 2 received a new update which finally added support to the Red Dead Online beta, which has also gone live for those who can access it from today. A lot of gameplay footage has been shared since the beta going live, showing character creation for Red Dead Online as well as some of the story missions, competitive multiplayer modes, free roaming and more. You can find the gameplay footage right below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ginAXJ2WYwA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGvQnaHqiBw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAFqrxvX9yU Together with the addition of the Red Dead Online beta support, the new Red Dead Redemption 2 update introduced fixes for crashing issues that were found in the game's previous version, fixes for stuttering and lag issues, improved frame rate and stability and other minor fixes. Sadly, Rockstar Games hasn't revealed more details on what precisely has been fixed, but more on the matter will surely come in the next few hours. As for what can be done in the Red Dead Online beta, Rockstar Games has confirmed that players are currently able to enjoy the first few story missions of the mode, starting from the escape from the Sisika Penitentiary, located to the east of the map. Once out of prison, players can choose to complete more story missions, set up camp, ride with friends in a Posse, complete the many Free Roam challenges available and simply explore the world, which has some minor differences with the world seen in the single-player campaign. The Red Dead Online beta also features some Stranger missions which will be different depending on the character's current Honor rating. A high rating will result in honorable escorting missions, for example, while a low rating will result in missions where the player may have to help a criminal escape from the law and so on. Also available right now in the Red Dead Online beta are competitive multiplayer modes. They can be played by interacting with the "showdown series" signpost. Right now, players can enjoy: Make it Count: A battle royale mode where players are armed only with a bow and arrows. The player area will gradually shrink during a match, and the last standing player will win. Shootout and Team Shootout: Classic gunfight modes where players have unlimited lives. The player with the most kills wins the match. Most Wanted: An all-against-all mode where the player at the top of the leaderboards is the one with the highest bounty. Hostile Territory: A team-based mode where different teams work have to capture land while defending already conquered territories. The team with the most points at the end of a match wins. Name Your Weapon: In this mode, players are able to use a variety of weapons to kill their opponents. The harder a weapon is to use, the higher the points for each kill will be. The players with the most points at the end of the match wins. The Red Dead Online beta is now live for those who purchased one of the game's Special Editions. It will be available from tomorrow to all those who played the game at launch, and from November 29th to those who played the game between October 26th and October 29th. Everyone else will get access from November 30th. Are you enjoying the Red Dead Online beta? Let us know on our forums. 22. Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with Easter Eggs to find, and players are still discovering them over one month the game has been released. Most of those discovered so far don't amount to much, outside a fun diversion from the usual outlaw activities, but a brand new one that has been found recently seems to hint at future content coming to the game. Before we proceed further, there are some huge end-game spoilers below this point. Avoid reading at all costs if you haven't reached the Epilogue and don't want to ruin one of the game's big twists. After completing Chapter 6, players will no longer control Arthur Morgan, but the beloved Red Dead Redemption protagonist John Marston. Players will also be brought back to the New Austin area to complete the game's final missions. To experience this new Easter Egg, you need to get to the Tall Trees region on the map and jump down a well. Here, the character will start glowing in the dark and will be in a zombified form which is not too different from the one seen on the Undead Nightmare cover. The same can happen if you somehow manage to get Arthur down this well, but the effects are not as pronounced. You can check out a video of the Easter Egg provided by Reddit user BrodyTheBeast by going here. This new zombie-themed Easter Egg may be a simple diversion added for fun to the game by Rockstar Games, but its location seems to suggest that there could be something more behind it. The developer has yet to reveal any plans for single-player DLC expansions, and it will probably take some time for us to hear more about them, considering Red Dead Online is launching soon in beta and that it will require some work before its official launch. The Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare DLC expansion has been released a few months after the main game released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and it's completely standalone, meaning that it can be played even without owning Red Dead Redemption. The expansion features a zombie-themed horror campaign, starring John Marston once again as he searches New Austin for the cure of a plague that's infesting the area. During the course of the campaign, John will meet many of the characters he encountered during his first journey, but they will be somewhat different to fit the theme of the expansion. The Undead Nightmare expansion campaign doesn't play too differently from the main Red Dead Redemption campaign, with players controlling Arthur in a big open-world setting completing missions given by various NPCs. Side missions given by Strangers as well as Chance Encounters are also available, and all have been modified slightly to fit into the expansion. The Undead Nightmare expansion also adds two new multiplayer modes and several cosmetic additions. Now that the zombie-themed Easter Egg in Red Dead Redemption 2 has been discovered, Rockstar Games may surprise us in the near future and officially announce Undead Nightmare 2. We will let you know more about this possible expansion as soon as possible, so stay tuned for all the latest news. 23. Rockstar Games has officially announced the launch date of the early access beta phase of Red Dead Online. The multiplayer companion game to Red Dead Redemption 2, built on the same foundations as previous success title Grand Theft Auto Online, will allow players to explore the game's world together. We've known that Red Dead Redemption 2 will get a multiplayer mode ever since the game was announced, and suspected as much even longer. After the sustained, continuous success of GTA Online, which continues to see high player numbers 5 years after launch, it was clear that Rockstar will try to repeat the model. With microtransactions allowing players to purchase in-game currency for real money, a great deal of Take-Two's revenue is provided by this game alone. With Red Dead Redemption 2's immediate and massive market success, it's likely that lightning will strike twice for Rockstar. The game outsold its predecessor's lifetime sales in less than a week. Black Friday and Cyber Monday no doubt will boost player count even further, and then Christmas is coming up. This triple whammy of high-spending events is guaranteed to jog sales. Rockstar opted for an open beta release before a proper one this time around due to the anticipated interest. In the case of GTA Online, the company had famously assumed that the multiplayer mode won't draw much attention at all. Instead, it's population boomed and stayed so high that Rockstar continues to support it with free DLC. Knowing how popular Red Dead is, Rockstar wanted to avoid the typical catastrophic launch of multiplayer games. Too often highly anticipated multiplayer or MMO titles suffer disastrous launch-days due to the developers being unprepared for a massive influx of players all trying to log in at once. This is why even the beta has a tiered launch: early access will open tomorrow, on the 27th of November, with full public access opening on the 30th, Friday. Between the two, players will be given access in waves based on various criteria outlined below. The official statement refers to the multiplayer mode of the previous title, Red Dead Redemption. In a much more limited capacity, it also allowed players to explore and interact with the same game world as in single player. Players could customize their characters with full-body skins based on people we met in the storyline, and engage in a few co-op or PvP game modes. The same statement also calls out "best of everything we have learned since then about creating deep multiplayer experiences" which obviously means GTA Online. On Tuesday, 27th of November, only those players who own and activated an Ultimate Edition code for the game will have access to Red Dead Online. The next day, Wednesday, all players who according to Rockstar's data played Red Dead Redemption 2 on launch day (October 26th) will be given access to the beta. On Thursday, this is expanded to all players who played the game between the 26th and 29th of October. Finally, on Friday, anyone who owns the game can access Online. Rockstar is asking the assistance of players in the early days of the beta to report any problems they encounter in the multiplayer mode. Additionally, Rockstar is hoping to incorporate player feedback beyond mere bug fixing. Ideas, suggestions and general feedback regarding the gameplay experience will also be used by the developers to improve the experience further. The multiplayer mode will take the gameplay of the story mode as a basis for the content but will allow you to customize your character and your abilities. Based on the description posted by Rockstar, much of the activities you'll initially see in Red Dead Online will be similar to what you played in the campaign - fishing, hunting, searching for treasure, robbery, fighting other gangs and so on. However, a Posse system where you team up with 7 players to form your own gang is bound to shake things up. PvP can happen organically just by bumping into other players who decide to let their guns do the talking, or in specific competitive game modes with proper rule sets. Red Dead Online is set to be supported by regular free content updates much like GTA Online. This will keep the game fresh and interesting with new things to do, items to buy and more. Part of the reason for the lasting success of GTA Online is the content support that all players can enjoy for no extra cost, and this is something Rockstar is planning to implement in Red Dead Online too. As part of their deal with Sony, that DLC is going to be available on PlayStation 4 earlier by 30 days, typically, than on Xbox One. More details will be revealed about Red Dead Online tomorrow when the beta launches. The post Red Dead Online Beta Launching November 27 appeared first on RDR2.org. Read the full story
  24. We recently reported that the effects of the three "mystery" cheats for Red Dead Redemption 2 have been discovered, and now we finally have the codes to activate them too. They have no prerequisites so you don't need to unlock the cheats in-game in any manner in order to use them. Their discovery also means that we now have a complete list of both cheat effects and cheat codes for the game. The three mystery cheats were Infinite Dead Eye, Level 1 Dead Eye and Clear All Bounties & Lockdown Locations. Many cheats in RDR2 are discovered and unlocked by purchasing newspapers from vendors across the game world. Those cheats that are unlocked with a newspaper can't be used until you've bought the corresponding issue, even if you know the code. When you activate a cheat Achievements & Trophies will be blocked and you can no longer save your gameEven though the press discovered several cheats before Red Dead Redemption 2's release, meaning partial cheat lists were published as early as October 26th, and then the newspapers and further exploration revealed subsequent cheats, three remained a mystery longer than the rest. These weren't hidden in any such newspapers, nor was there any clear indication as to where they might be found. However over the past couple of a day a member of the public managed to stumble upon the Infinite Dead Eye code while exploring the game world ("Be greedy only for foresight" by the way) and then IGN found the other two ("Guide me better" for Level 1 Dead-Eye and "You want everyone to go away" for Clear All Bounties & Lockdown Locations. Again, you can view the full list of RDR2 cheats, plus any requirements, right here. 25. At any time while traveling in the vast world of Red Dead Redemption 2, Arthur will meet a variety of NPCs in need of help. These events, known as Chance Encounters, are different from Stranger Missions, as they are very short and can be completed in a few minutes. Getting engaged in them, however, is a great way to learn more about the world, improve Arthur's Honor rating and get some nice rewards. While most of the Chance Encounters happen at random points on the map, there are a few ones that can only happen under certain conditions and in certain general locations, like the ones involving the Night Folk Gang, which are only triggered in the Bayou swamps. Three more Chance Encounters not only happen in specific areas but also require the right time of day. These three events feature a rather infamous group, the Ku Klux Klan, which is up to no good. These three events are rather special among the Chance Encounters for a variety of reasons. First, there's no real reward for completing them, not counting what can be looted from dead KKK members. Second, you can engage the events in any way you want, even kill KKK members on sight, as Honor will not decrease as it would normally happen when killing any NPC without good reason. We still suggest you wait killing these despicable individuals, as the three events often take some hilarious turns. Also make sure to kill all of them, as they will report Arthur to the authorities if they manage to escape. Preventing them from completing what they are out doing will also increase Arthur's Honor by 2 points. Killing Ku Klux Klan members also triggers some unique lines for Arthur that cannot be heard otherwise, so you have more than a reason to get rid of them. In this guide, we will cover the location of the three events focused on the KKK and how to trigger them. The Ceremony The Ceremony KKK event is triggered in a random area located to the West of Southfield Flats, to the north of Rhodes. This event only happens at night time. During this event, the KKK is accepting a new member. Unfortunately for the new brother and another member, things go quite bad and they end up getting burned by the same cross the new member set alight. The other members will disperse, so if you're set on killing them, you have to do so before the cross is set on fire. The Cross The second KKK Chance Encounter can only be triggered during morning or noon after the first event has been completed. The location is close to Flatneck Station. During this event, Arthur will see three members of the KKK trying to put a cross up. Greeting them will make the two KKK members trying to actually put the cross up drop it on themselves. The black hooded man will then try to kill Arthur with a knife. Get rid of him in any way you want to complete the event. The Fight The third and final KKK Chance Encounter of Red Dead Redemption 2 only triggers when the first two have been completed. It can only happen at night in the area to the south of Cumberland Falls on the map. During this event, you will see a few KKK members going at one another for some reason. You can just wait for them to finish arguing or kill all of them as soon as you catch a glimpse of them. Like already said, make sure to kill all of them, as any who manages to escape will report Arthur to the authorities. As if they had any right to do so, given their horrible beliefs and activities.
