Yeah that is one of the things that upsets me most...the fact that you're in the middle of a gunfight thinking:"why didn't i bring my rifle?" To be clear,it doesn't upset me that you have to take it with you (which is only realistic)...but the fact that i forgot to bring it AGAIN...or standing there with your bow and arrow lol On topic: so if i take a gun from the ground,the one i drop always goes to the horse?

I've had it happen after killing two wolves...one was skinned the "normal" way and the second like the OP described. I thought it was a design decision to speed up time while skinning multiple animals...

Terribly sorry if i did spoil anything...i thought my answer was quite innocent really. (logic says that if you don't have something yet but you know it's in the game, you'll somehow get it later?)

And remember that the "kills" decay so be sure to deliver them to camp before they rott...

You can also get a horse(s) in the wild and make it/them your own...

Hot tip: Whatever you do,don't reload your weapon while interacting with someone... A guy i saved wanted to give me a map when i figured i'd save time by reloading my gun while he was talking...result: I gave him a pistol whip and he ran without giving me the map 😨

you can kill it by running over it with your horse as well...

To my knowledge you can sell them...for instance to the cook of your base camp.
