Yeah that's fast riding, and that's the noise horses make when they canter, especially uphill or over soft terrain. It's an odd thing to be put off the whole game for but then the sound of people eating loudly makes me want to kill them, so to each his own I guess. Stick with it, I'd say, and try to ignore it.

To test your story progression, go to a station and enter the building with the envelope, where you can talk to the guy behind the counter (the same guy you talk to for paying bounties). He can sell you a train ticket. If it says trains are not available then you need to progress more in the story. If you can buy a train ticket then your problem just sounds like something glitching out.

If you could paint Xs before but now can't, that sounds like another bug.

I don't get the XBox owners who are taking the p*ss out of the PS4 owners for this. I've waited nearly a decade for this game and stayed up overnight until I could play it, and if it were as disappointing or unplayable as it sounds like it has been on the PS4 I'd be gutted. Just pile em up till they fall off. I found a wagon that had oranges in so they took up some room but I bet you could get a load on there. @BropolloCreed79 might be a way of making your corpse wall.

Yep, works. You can't jump when you are carrying an animal so you have to reverse next to a big rock you can walk to the top of without climbing, then step onto the wagon. Also you have to drive fairly slow.
