So Rockstar has opened up an official feedback channel to them directly for the ONLINE section of the game. Not the base game, the ONLINE section. This should speak volumes to anyone still hoping they give a single crap about Singleplayer. It was all just a vehicle for Online monetization to kick off at the end of the day. Granted, a mostly glorious vehicle, but just look at how quickly they drop the Singleplayer fanbase in favor of Online. It's a bit of an insult.

It doesn't fix any of the issues discussed here. PS4 Pro is still blurry. HDR is still broken. The only perceivable thing they fixed is the disappearing NPCs at camp. And since R* clearly couldn't wait to get Online going, I guess these things will never get fixed now.
-
Updated the game to 1.03 on PS4 Pro. Blur issue is NOT fixed. HDR is NOT fixed. Thanks bunches, R*. The Online component of the game is out and this is all R* will focus on from now on.
-
That's all fine and dandy, if it wasn't for the unresolved issues with the base game.

Excuse me?! This thread is focused on a particular issue which we deem an actual significant one. And you come on here accusing us that this is the only thing that matters to us? How do you justify such a statement? This is the only issue DISCUSSED HERE. Big difference! And explain to me how the VISUAL APPEARANCE of a game is somehow unimportant when a large portion of the gaming experience is centered around VISUAL PERCEPTION? Why is it that game industry is investing millions into better VISUAL technologies? Because from a purely gameplay point of view, only incredibly rudimentary visuals are technically "necessary". You are accusing people for being childish because of an issue that is ruining their gaming experience. And you are calling them childish, "grow up" because YOU personally do not perceive this issue. Now tell me again, who really needs to grow up? Ironically, YOU are the one acting like a self-obsessed, entitled CHILD! We are legitimately addressing an issue you have absolutely no business commenting on since this issue is not relevant to you, apparently.
-
Yes, it would seem like a plausible theory. But how and why would Sony be OK with this? Because if we suspect this to be the case, Sony must know a lot more!
-
You don't see an issue? Either you are blind, or you have not compared the visuals with XBOX ONE X, or you have not done any research into the matter before coming on here questioning everyone complaining about the issue as if we are somehow imagining it? The very real "Issue" is that the image on PS4 Pro looks very blurry compared to the XBOX ONE X version. Ironically, the game looks better on base PS4 than it does on PS4 Pro because on the Pro, they are using a crappy checkerboard rendering technique that makes the image look blurry.
-
Supersampling and HDR is vastly different things! What you refer to as "supersampling" is a technique where the same visuals are layered in order to give the impression of a higher resolution image. Or when a small image is blown up and the missing visual information added using some clever wizardry called checkerboard rendering. HDR on the other hand has to do with increased color range.

I think you are right about people being hypnotized by the positive aspects of RDR2. This is like being on honeymoon with your new, not-that-pretty, but healthy bride. You are blind to any flaws. For the time being. People romanticize their gaming experiences to extraordinary levels and refuse to acknowledge any shortcomings. But eventually the honeymooners will come around. Sadly it will be too late. R* understand the psychology of this very well which is why they are in no hurry to release a patch. Not even to fix the HDR, which is less a case of perception but a technical fudge job. It is literally FAKE HDR (deliberately implemented in that way) and somehow, inexplicably, they are getting away with it. And I blame the major media channels like Digital Foundry for not making a bigger fuss over this.

A timely fix would have been appreciated. Meaning, a fix soon after release within a reasonable time period, not more than a month after release and we are still waiting.... No, there is something else going on here.
-
I agree, this is just shockingly bad game support by a AAA game developer. And having fallen victim to the missing NPCs bug on my second playthrough, I think I am just done with this game until R* decides to patch it.
-
I absolutely hate how Arthur's outfit is sometimes changed by the game. That, and his weapon loadout that keeps resetting. It is massively irritating. And I have just encountered the missing NPCs bug in my second playthrough and still R* is completely silent about when they are going to patch this game. I am done with it for now. There is now too many things (PS4 Pro) ruining this game's enjoyment for me.

Thanks for the warning! I will be more careful in future. Back to the issue, If anyone is saying it is the "art style" that results in a blurry mess on PS4 Pro, maybe they can then also explain why PS4 Pro has a different "art style" to XBOX ONE X. Because on XBOX ONE X the game looks incredible. When someone notice a graphical problem and complain about it, all the fanboys want to treat them like an idiot because they can't face the fact that the game is not presented optimally. Acknowledging this would burst their bubble. We all play lots of games, often using the same hardware. So if I notice that 6 other games look amazing on my PS4 Pro and Sony 4K TV using the exact same system settings, then I load up RDR2 for the first time and immediately something does not look right. Of course, something is not right! There is a massive difference between art direction and graphical fidelity. And on the PS4 Pro, there is a very clear problem with graphical fidelity. R* created AMAZING art for RDR2. The lighting, the graphics, the physics, everything is exceptionally good. But....BUT! The rendering on PS4 Pro is BAD! It affects the graphical fidelity in a very negative way. Why is it so hard for people to understand this complaint? Even R* tech support act like idiots about this issue. Technically speaking, they are using a 1080p resolution and "enhancing" it to 4K. It is a TERRIBLE implementation of checkerboard rendering - the absolute WORST I have ever seen on PS4. At this stage of the current generation, RDR2 should really be the best looking game on ALL platforms, including the PS4 Pro. But it is the absolute WORST looking game on PS4 Pro so far. And again, we are NOT talking about technical things like lighting, art, physics, not even the texture quality and detail themselves. We are talking about how it is PRESENTED on PS4 Pro. It is presented poorly. Very very poorly,
-
Oh crap. OK fine, I stand corrected.
-
You again, talking through your arse! PS4 Pro does NOT HAVE BOOST MODE! This setting is only present on the base PS4. The blurry textures issue is predominanltly a PS4 PRO issue! Get it???
-
It looks fake to me. Unless R* employs borderline illiterate Support staff.
-
You are probably right. It is starting to look like they have no intention of addressing this. I didn't want to believe it, but the game was released almost 3 weeks ago and for R* not to communicate with us at all up until now, is really odd. I am starting to regret my GOTY nominations...
-
LOL yeah sure buddy! Is R* support really this bad and are they really this ignorant of the issues the community has been complaining about that they sent you here as our White Knight? And STILL you are asking us to let you know what the issues are, even when it is all well documented in this thread alone? You're a TROLL! You don't work for R*. They would have employed an official community manager for this stuff. You're not it.
-
Technically, a single patch was released on day 1.
-
You really should refrain from commenting on issues you have no useful knowledge about. It makes you look like an absolute fool.
-
Thanks for this! By now Sony must be aware of this, and I can't imagine they are OK with it. Hopefully they put pressure on R* to improve the Pro version. I would also be tempted to get an XBOX ONE X and another copy of the game. But I don't want to give R* another penny. Maybe I will buy the game second-hand and give R* the middle finger.
-
So....what you are saying is that Rockstar won't patch it, but if we didn't pre-order the game, then they will eventually patch it? Great logic!
-
Yeah, it's funny how someone calling others out as uneducated comes across as even more uneducated himself.
-
It is possible that they aren't giving a sh*t, but this would be surprising considering they spent all these years making this game. This is now their flagship game so it would be hard to believe they don't give a sh*t about it. No one can make a game like RDR2 and not be absolutely passionate about it. I may be a little naive, but I want to believe they are working really hard trying to fix this. They are just not communicating about it. This is R* remember. They don't operate like most other game developers. They are very secretive about what they do. I do not excuse them for releasing the game in this state at all, but it is done. All we can really do is wait and see if this issue gets addressed. If not, we will have to decide what we want to do. Either to stop buying R* games (which I sense is not an option) or to bite the bullet and buy an XBOX ONE X and another copy of the game. R* is an unstoppable force and they know it. They will get away with this if it is their intention to ignore the issue.
-
LMAO, how does this make R* "lazy"??? How do you even justify using the word "Lazy" in a sentence with R*? If you want to see a "lazy" game developer, go have a look at what Bethesda is up to.
