Hey, guys! It's easy to find out if it's a placedo. Just take a SS when in 4k mode. The upscale technique used by R* since patch 1.02 has jaggies all over the place.

Take a look:

Anyone else feel that this was Microsoft’s way of getting a 1 month or so exclusive title?

meaning that they made a large selling point to all PS4pro owners to also buy a 1x for the Christmas season.

I don't believe it, to be honest with you. Seems he just says it so everyone stops bothering him... Is this the official support chat?

I've just had a chat with the Rockstar support. They know nothing about the problem. :)

A timely fix would have been appreciated. Meaning, a fix soon after release within a reasonable time period, not more than a month after release and we are still waiting....

No, there is something else going on here.

I feel like a lotta people are hypnotized into saying only good things about the game since its Rock*. Considering the technical side of things, there are considerable issues with this game even on XBOX ONE X version that has not really been addressed by the Major Media outlets such as Gamespot or IGN or even digital foundry. One such thing is the ridiculous depth of field and camera focus in this game even in the X version. I have been watching a lot of playthroughs online from the One X version and this out of focus problem occurs specifically when the character goes  indoors. Granted, One X version  benefits from 4k resolution and does not end up looking as bad as pro but this issue is still there and I have yet to see anyone address it on the One X version. All are singing praises of this game and no body is willing to admit these issues.  Some contribute this to the artistic choice of the developer yet I don't get how blurry indoors due to faulty implementation of depth of field and focus is considered artistic when you need to squint your eyes in order to see what the heck is going on in indoor environments or keep holding the LT/L2 button in order to shift the focus from your character's shoulders to the background. The same occurs to a lesser degree with the mountains or trees in the background or any objects that is further than a couple of meters from your ingame character in the open. IT IS THERE ALSO ON THE ONE X VERSION but no body seems to acknowledge this.  This game kind of reminds of MAFIA 3 at least in the graphic department.

Example:

just look how blurry the interior of the cabin gets as soon as Arthur steps in, the lights look blurry the wallpaper looks blurry, the table in the background looks blurry. THIS IS ONE X VERSION

The version of Xbox One X has much more sharpness than the version of PlayStation 4 Pro. From what I understand Rockstar will not fix this problem. Can someone put pictures in the game without the 1.02 patch?

I would´nt registrate anything if it would looking like this. All looks so much clearer, and the type of lighting looks different too. This version looks technical different.

OK the One X has the same problems. Only the 4k resolution let show the one x version different. I´ve watched the video for a few minutes. What a shame.
I´ve watched for a few minutes on my PS$. Again a new Update for shadows of the tomb Raider and spiderman. Spiderman is now 1.11 an dTomb Raider 1.09.

But we can do nothing. Only wait. The whole press seems to be bribed and they are a lot of people in the forum of the press that are bribed too.
Noone says anything about graphical issues. I hope the developer guy of EA makes another video to show this peece of sh*t the whole gaming world. I mean the person that makes a video from the big input lag.

It is total blurry and out of focus. Sorry phantom I´ve watched the video later, but now I see the same f_cking issues. It is a kind of a horror show. Now I think what the major press do is propaganda to sell out the game.

All the others running with the stream like a rathunter of the midlle age. look at the commentaries for the video on you tube. No user is registrating anything all are looking at the marvolous highscore of the game, then it must be the best game for all this rats.

It's a good thing in a way

that the X users have the same problems, because we have more hope that a patch will fix this issues. It is so frustrating that we receive no answer when the update appears.
Will rockstar sell glasses in the future for our eyes?

LSD Artstyle? This is like a trip.

Only people that taking harder drugs can play this game for more as two hours.

It is hazy, but that is not a technical issue. It's the director's intent to play with DoF that way. Maybe we'll all gonna have to deal with it. The issue with PRO it's a lot worse than that because of the upscaling method applied. Just take a look in the SS I've posted and see the edges in 4k mode.

Please read my previous post partner, I did mention that xbox one x looks better because it is Native 4k, nevertheless it suffers from the same issues or to use your term director's intent.

Who ever green lit the “artistic” use of blur to show realistic depth of field probably had no knowledge of the awful upscaling on the PS4 Pro version.

I noticed something yesterday when watching tv. Depth of field happens on live action due to the focusing of the cameras. I don’t know anything about filming but I would say that the the focusing of one object or person is due to a combination of artistic decisions and limitations of the camera.

Which makes me question who the heck thought emulating this limitation into a video game was a good idea!?!?!?

hope they give the option to turn it off as it just looks weird and out of place in a video game.

I am starting to believe that they are well aware of this at Rockstar , however this was more of practical decision than artistic in order to achieve maximal performance on both platforms. I don't know much about performance/quality tradeoff but I believe this blurry, out of focus mess is something that if turned off, gonna have a negative effect in terms of performance on both platforms. I believe that is the main reason they incorporate it in the game. to give a performance boost. Otherwise they could have simply put an option in the setting to turn it off. makes sense: sharper the image=worse the performance.

I can’t believe they haven’t came out with any patch yet since release day..finally tried giving it a go again last night after being pretty damn let down on release day/week, thinking that I was just being a baby and just gonna try to enjoy the game. I just can’t do it on my Samsung KS8000, it really does feel like your vision is messed up playing this game. Just looks awful.  I thought manually changing my video output to 1080p fixed it but i actually tried that again today and it looked awful.

Not sure why I didn’t try this before but I finally just used a 1080p monitor and it really does look fantastic. Literally no blur at all and the lighting for some reason is SO much better.

Yes it is a limitation of a camera. I´m a photograph and one rule says a image is bad if the completze image is unsharp. When you use Depth of field, something must be sharp. For portraits the charakter must be sharp, for landscape the landscape or all. This is a rule of photographic techniques. This is no art style.

The same for motion blur in filming. One thing must be in the focus. Our eyes I´m studying photography since a year ;)

can not handle it

Wow so many new users in the thread. Welcome guys

Has anybody used the fotomode of horizon zero dawm? This mode simulates a camera well. ;)

Yes the first two photos looking clearer. I´ve ordered the discversion now. Comes on wedneday. Strange is for me all the let´s player has the same issues. Watching a let´s play and now I know the mission with stealing horses is bugged in my version. Graphic has the same issues camera goes out of focus. I will not install the update when the discversion comes.

Nice Beard. :)

I thought I was alone with this one. Holy hell what is the problem here? I knew it looked different when I was at my friend's. He has the Xbone Pro and I am thinking it may be an issue with the way they did something in the game for the console. Can a setting be adjusted to fix this?
