However, press the share button and you’ll see that it instantly turns much sharper and crisper. Gives me hope they may patch it i'm so disappointed.. Waiting 8 years for this game. LOL... I just finished Spider-Man on my PS4PRO, graphics look so amazing

Avean Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Yeah i have not seen any proof that Rockstar is working on it. All this started from a support chat where the guy basicly said they are working hard on all issues, thats a normal response on any game. Doesnt mean they working on this blurring issue. And the fan sites are quoting from this forum as well making it even harder to tell whats true or not. I think the problem with fixing this that it might give worse performance, maybe this blur is whats needed to have a steady 30fps? hope not but RDR2 is one insane detailed world, i cant believe the consoles are actually rendering this at all.

Rockstar just released the game, trust me they are wanting feedback. Maybe they are waiting for all the feedback to fix the main issues in 1 update. Edited October 31, 2018 by DylBandit

Si je pouvais jouer sans flou, mais avec des textures de qualité inférieure, je serais ravi. Oui, je sais, mais pensez-vous vraiment que Rockstar va publier un patch rapidement? J'ai un doute .. désolé

artur89 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 i don't speak french, and once more, motion blur cannot be disabled on red dead redemption 2, i would like to disable it, please don't let this go, i hate motion blur.
Dubya75 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 This issue with how fuzzy RDR2 look on PS4 Pro has nothing to do with what TV you are using. It is a poorly implemented rendering technique. Period. I won't deny that this is the best looking game ever made...on a platform that shows it as it is intended, being XBOX ONE X at 4K native resolution. But, on PS4 Pro, it is one of the shittiest looking games in recent memory as rendering goes. When you have games like God Of War, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider etc., all looking way sharper and clearer than RDR2, you know that something is wrong! There is even a Sharpening slider in the game settings, but it fails to achieve any meaningful result even on the highest setting. And as for HDR, it is completely broken. It does exactly the opposite of what HDR is supposed to do. However, this is also not the cause of the problem because even with HDR turned OFF, the game still looks blurry and muddy. 1
RedBlurRedemption Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 I guess it cannot look sharper than this. If it would, it would be native 4K..

pluggy Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Relax guys, as annoying as all this is, I'm sure Rockstar will patch it, I do know that it seems to be random, I and my friend both have LG 4k tvs, mine looks blurry and his looks fine, also I am not getting the washed out look that a lot of people are getting. The color seems fine, and believe me I am very meticulous with stuff like that.

khajiit1 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 I I know the next photos are not of the same scene but hopefully illustrate the blur effect on this game. The one with Arthur showing, you can notice the excessive blurring on the weeds and plants that are literally a couple of feet away. This whole screenshot looks like a freaking Monet painting. the photo with Javier in it, I pressed the share button which pauses the game and removes the blur effect. You can tell the blur effect here is greatly reduced if not gone. this is on a 4K tv with everything configured correctly and plugged into the correct hdmi port. NOTE: I had to take this with my phone since the blur effects are removed/reduced when sharing a screenshot and wanted to demonstrate the blur.

If you two with both LG 4K tv's are experiencing different results its due to TV's not PS4 Pro. You sure you are comparing at the same day/night cycle? and at the same distance to the TV Edited October 31, 2018 by Avean
khajiit1 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Going through twitter, looks like several gaming news outlets (RockstarIntel) are spreading disinformation. We haven’t gotten any such acknowledgement from R* that they are aware of the issue and working in it. https://rockstarintel.com/rockstar-games-working-to-fix-red-dead-redemption-2-hdr-issues/
Godlike Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 Well, this "disinformation" may be a good thing because more people will hear about this and they can always ask R* why they didn't release a fix yet.
Ezio51294 Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 I will still write comments until Rockstar fixes the graphics problem, It's terrible for me. I had a headache when playing RDD2 for about 2 hours, because the picture was blurry #Blurring Issue, #Rockstar, #Red Dead Redemption 2,

MN32410 Red_&_Dead Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) So, I have the same issuess with blurriness. I´m from German. I think they must kick off the Temporal Antialiasing. TAA is blurring the graphics to much on lower resolutions as native 4k or native 1440 p. I have a lot of issues with that postprocessing antialiasing on pc on a lot of modern games. I Think the combination of a new resolution format of checkerboard rendering and the taa is the reason for this blurriness. I think they use dynamic resolution for Antialiasing. It is the same sh... on Odyssey on the PC with this antialiasing technique. On adaptive the antialiasing resolution will reduced and yyou become this unsharpen washed out effect on middle and on high drawing distances. I dont know why they use TAA with checkerboarding. You don´t need TAA on TV on higher resolutions. If you use premium cable and superresolution Technique on your TV. I have a LG 8500SK with Nanocell Technique and all my other games looking amazing with this TV on PS4 Pro. I´m Using the Belkin ULtra HD 2.1 Cable for best speed in processing the images and reducing input lag to zero in most games. It is a much better experience to play, but this game is really strange. In interiors like the saloon all looks washed out, when you moving your character. For me HDR isn´t the problem. Yes the pro Version has a contrast bug in HDR. You can use for LCD a brightness of 260 or higher and turn down your backlight of your tv. The strange thing is, the game looks on start razor sharp with default settings on start of the game. I it looks like vaseline on my screen in Cutcenes and on horseriding. Another problem is, why we have not the sharpen filter of the 1080p mode in the high resolution mode. This filter is a luma sharpen filter and it will not desroy the performance. I think they is some really wrong with the goldversion of the PS4 Pro. Another think is the installation size of the game. On my pro it takes 92,3 GB. Why is the one version so big? I think the best solution was they gave us native widescreen resolution with smaa antialiasing filtering. It looks good enough on most TVs. I hope a patch is coming soon. I´´´m not one of those guys that bash on the developper teams. The most of gamers do not know, how hard work it is to bring out games of this quality. I mean Odyssey for sure and Red Dead Redemption. But this is a problem that is more, than a quest bug or a texture glitch or anything else. I,m a big fan of digital foundrys game analyses. This guys are experts and very professionell in analysing. I hope they talk with rockstar to find a solution for this bad implementation of taa and checkerboard rendering. No the pro is´nt to slow to handle this better. You can see that on Odyssey, Horizon Zero Dawn or the Witcher. Or look at Ghost Recon Wildlands and this is a Multiplayer Game and it runs fine and the graphic is not poor. Razor sharp is wrong. Razor sharp is not a factor of good image quality. It looks heavily detailed on all distances. ...For two seconds. And yes I hate two strong looking motion blur effects and depth of field too. This effects are good for cutcenes or finish moves, but not for world exploring. Edited October 31, 2018 by MN32410 Red_&_Dead
Ross101 Posted October 31, 2018 Author Posted October 31, 2018 I have just had this reply from rockstar after allegedly “investigating” it as you can see from my response I’m not happy with it 1

The color seems fine, and believe me I am very meticulous with stuff like that. By your logic then, all my games on PS4 should suffer from the same problems. Washed out HDR, blurriness, etc. Right? Only, this is not the case at all! RDR2 is the ONLY game on my setup that is suffering from broken HDR and awful checkerboard rendering from a 1080p source resulting in a blurry muddy image! This is simply unacceptable. And it is worrying that the game shipped in this state. After 8 years in development. It would be naive to think they would simply patch these problems out. They are pretty significant problems. Edited October 31, 2018 by Dubya75
