Legendary fishing question

So...I was fishing for the legendary coho, and I landed it after 20 minutes.  Then...I pressed the wrong button and instead of keeping it, I threw it back. Doh!  Yes, I'm an idiot. So the question now is, will I be able to catch it again?  I tried fishing for it again after I threw it back, and nothing was biting.  Just wondering if I have ruined my chances to get it.

You can catch it again, but you will have to wait a day or so and probably leave the area and come back later to try again.

I can confirm that you can catch it again, I should know as I caught one and fell into the sea whilst scrambling over the rocks and dropped it as you can see from the topic I created.

Yeah, I have done crap like this. You can always reencounter the legendary animals. Just have to leave the area and give it 24 or 72 hours in game time and it should be good to go again.

Funny story... Someone on another forum (not a RDR forum but a general one) told me once they are gone they are gone so if I screw up once, I would have to play the entire game over again. Other people agreed with this guy so I thought it was legit. I never finished the legendary animals because I planned on getting it done my second go of the game and here I am feeling like a moron for believing them. LOL!

I let the Legendary Salmon go because I already had the Legendary Bison on my horse.  Been back days and days and nothing.  Now I am in prologue with Marston and still cannot get that stupid fish... so annoying.
