Well to be fair, a few of them, were set ups, that maybe he should have probed and even passed on to make sure.
But when a guy in your gang is tipping off the Pinkerton's and teling them when and where you will be, there isnt much you can do.

Ok but seriously. It's not so much as to Dutch's planning that actually sucks. Its just Micah being a snake that causes most of the plans to fail. Then there's just some unfortunate inconveniences that happen during robbery that cause it to all go to sh*t.

TBH, I really don't think Dutch ever had an actual plan, just a goal. When pressed, all he ever said was "we just need money." There was never any clear path to how they were supposed to get that money. It felt as if he was basically just stumbling around.
