lumper Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 1 hour ago, HuDawg said: PS4 is basically, more players more problems. More kids..more assholes. LOL, makes sense. What makes you think there are more ps4 players? is that like a stated fact or are you just guessing? I dont doubt it, I just wonder where you got that. I know myself I play on an xbox one x so I can run the game at 4k in all its glory, for me it is all about the graphics and how well the game runs, I know the X sales have been really great, but being more expensive I suppose the other xbox consoles and ps4's probably do sell more as they cost a little less, I dont know, just guessing.
deadairface Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) I only started playing online a few weeks ago after the big “out of beta” patch a few weeks ago, so I never experienced griefers or a to of the other problems I read about. One time in my first few hours I was hitching my horse outside a general store and someone shot me in the head for no reason. I pressed charges for whatever that’s worth, but since then it’s never really happened to me. I started playing in defensive mode for doing general stuff, but that seemed to make things pretty lonely. I hardly even saw human players anymore. It felt like I was playing solo. So now I play in offensive mode 95% of the time and to be honest it doesn’t seem much different, still pretty lonely. I would welcome encountering some ruthless killers more often, as long as there’s some fairness in it. What I’d like to see is if there’s a ruthless killer (aka griefer) in your vicinity, you should see a red dot to be alert for it (like when there’s a bear or wolf nearby, your heart starts to pump a little and you get ready). Rather than a bear’s growl, the NPCs should alert you by saying things like, that’s him/her, watch out, be careful, maybe have a deputy appear so the moment the griefer tries to take a cheap shot, the deputy or an NPC would start draw first and shoot (everyone was armed back then). It would be no fun for griefers if they take a bullet in the head every time before they even have a chance to take a cheap shot on a defenseless, unsuspecting player. There would be no point in in it. But it should be tied to honor somehow. For example, a full-blown dishonorable would take lead before from a deputy or NPC before they even raise their gun. At the same time, it’s understandable that some people want to play in griefer-style way. For them, as long as they have some level of honor, their first or first few grief-shots should be forced misses so the target knows he/she is being targeted, where the gunfire is coming from and what kind, and have a chance to get armed and defend. Maybe an honorable player would have a few missed shots missed shots while a more dishonorable player might get one. So a total a-hole griefer would just get shot by an NPC before even having a chance to kill a defenseless, unsuspecting, honorable player and there’d be no point in it, the griefer would just get killed immediately, looted, and then deal with a significant bounty for cold-blooded attempted murder. For less dishonorable players who just want to kill you for some reason, they’d have to deal with NPC fire and a prepared target who very well might be far more dangerous than the spineless griefer. Also, players should have the option to play as deputies there to defend the peace that you could join as sort of a mission or type of posse. Why can’t you play as a lawman or woman? Instead of a bunch incompetent NPC lawmen, griefers would have to deal with human adversaries rather than a bunch of incompetent NPC who say “don’t let him get away” and run stupidly into certain death. I think a lot of players would like to play as deputies and it would make towns a lot more dangerous places where you’d have to think twice about your actions. Maybe even have a high-level human sheriff who you definitely don’t want to f- with. Then, like others have said, there should be a serious bounty system. You could go into a sheriff station and look at the bounties and pick one that suits you. If you’re a single low-level player, you probably don’t want to grab a poster for the most deadly person or gang out there. You’d chose someone closer to your level and go out hunting them for the reward. For the most deadly gangs with the biggest prices on their heads, the most deadly possies out there would hunt them down for the bigger reward/xp. Not as formal missions, but free roam where you grab a poster and would get tips as to where they were last seen. Go chase them down and have a real challenge between the hunted and the hunters, not go retrieve a wagon or play some defend the castle competition or even have a random feud with another posse just so you have something to do. i know there’d have to be a bunch of balance and similar issues, but they could be worked out by the smart people at Rockstar. I just think people should have the options to be free roam ruthless killers, deputies, bounty hunters, etc., but rather than make it a simple issue of offensive/defensive mode. If you don’t want to be griefed, you probably won’t because the consequences would not be worth it. And if somebody does want to defenselessly kill you for no reason, you just res pawn and the other online players will have a hell of a good time making you pay for it, whether was deputies or bounty hunters. And maybe as the victim, you’d have the option of joining the bounty hunt even if it’s with a group of expert hunters tracking down the deadliest gangs. It just seems to me something like this would be good for everybody. Just have NPCs eliminate the total a-hole griefers before they have a chance to act, and those who want to be ruthless killers should be given the opportunity but knowing there are a lot of ruthless deputies and bounty hunters who will enjoy making you pay for it. It just based to be balanced so the lawmen and bounty hunters don’t become the griefers i.e., you bump into somebody with your horse and a posse of 150 level players don’t start hunting you. Anyway, just some thoughts. Also same with other things in free roam. Why can’t you play as a guard for a stagecoach or train while other players are robbers who want to hold you up. Not these formal structured missions where it’s basically impossible to fail, but something more like, go ahead and try to rob this stage coach, we’d love it. Instead of a posse racing from stranger mission to stranger mission, have human posses that specialize in protecting or robbing rather than stupid NPC guards. Let human guards and human robbers go up against each other and have some real challenging action. The tedious stranger missions and defend the castle or shoot the birds competitions seem to me like they’d get boring and pointless pretty fast, though this is off-topic I think so sorry. N7Creed Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 I do think the game attempts to pit player against player when they invite you to go disrupt someone else's mission. At least that's how I interpret your idea. But I agree that having a proper bounty system is certainly needed in this game. I 'hope' that's what R* is planning with the new job roles that are coming out. That would be excellent. I can see that they may have delayed the job modes while they worked out balancing honor/dishonor and the general griefer problem. I suspect there is a lot of background coding and math needed to support something like this.
