What @Ozy8753 said about Free Roam. You just need to make sure you're on your horse so you can put one on from your inventory wheel. .....but after the Spring Update, this may be sort of a moot point if you're in Passive Mode. First time head shots won't be lethal as they once were and auto aim will also be off. As for PvP, I dunno. I never play those modes because I don't typically find them enjoyable with the current gameplay mechanics.

Yeah not gonna lie, the free aim in this game feels clunky and unnatural. I have it at the lowest setting as well. I can free aim when needed but I know I'll likely never be as good as I am in other games. Only weapon that I'm still good at as far as free aim is the bow thanks to months of playing The Forest. I challenge myself by going first person free aim in showdowns. I'm getting better, slowly lol. Although with my sight issues, it's difficult. (can't see at all or very well anything that isn't directly in front of me, so I look at the mini map a ton)

It will only respawn in PVP if you die, in free roam get on your horse as quick as you can.

i was torn between the Garand and carbine for years. I love the Garand as it's a (most commonly) .30-06 round, a bit longer and heavier than the carbine. And that ping sound when the clip is empty is just killer. Carbine is smaller, lighter, shoots a smaller shell, more like a .357, and can use up to a 30 round mag. the Carbine was my must have before i got my AR15. now that i have it i'm rethinking this. I don't need 2 fun guns, but then again i already have 2 big game rifles for anything i want to hunt up to a buffalo. So maybe i do need 2 fun guns (fun guns = shooting range guns to just go out and have fun blasting things with) so maybe I will stick with the Carbine first. damn, now i have to make a choice again lol

It is normal when it comes to Red Dead. Just look at single player campaign. Theres tons of ambushes that happen from NPC gangs. In online, the players fill that role.
