I'm ok with it. If you have several characters who could use Dead Eye targeting, it probably wouldn't make the main protagonist look special. John didn't even get his full abilities until he met Landon.

Seen Bill Williamson a couple of times and maybe a stealth aspect to hunting as he is using a bow.
