Amen to that! I am also 36 years old and my feelings towards the game mirrors yours. The only thing I do stay away from is the online part of the game and that is because of many reasons. First of all, I am no online players as I like to play things at my own phase and I am not really into being shot in the back while just admiring the view. Also I think that R* did a really bad job with the online part of the game, especially if one considers how almost perfect story mode is.

I am sorry to laughing or even smiling at such a serious thing, but I could not help myself. I guess it is true that humans way of handling tragedy is to do it with comedy. Anyway, I hope it will get better and that those affiliated with the irl violence will get caught and sentenced to life sentences.

I felt the same way, but I was lucky that my kids wanted a switch for Xmas so I bought it for them. So now I can enjoy my own PRO and XoneX and at the same time have excuses to play on the switch 🙂 I honestly do not think the switch is a very great console for “adult” players but there are some games that are just awesome. In the end I think you are right, if Nintendo want to survive and even flourish in the console market they need to change their approach. I also believe that streaming games is the future, it is just how far away that future is that is debatable.

As a Sweden living close to the polar circle, I know about cold weather and I agree with you. Unfortunately we here in Scandinavia have imported some of the “great” cultures all over the world that seems to have enjoyed violence and war for hundreds of years. That violence did not end by those cultures coming here so now we have quite a problem with gang violence and murders here too. Just as you I am a a non violent guy irl but I love to play in fictional worlds and have the freedom of pretend. It is not a waste of time as in my eyes hobbies and interests are rather the meaning of life. Work and the sh*t one has to live through outside of make believe is just a key to be able to spend time on escapism. Do not get me wrong, I have a good life with a wonderful family but tragedies and devastating things happens sooner or later to each and everyone of us and that is why all of us needs the escapism a good book, movie or game gives us.

What “rob” options are not there in the epilogue according to you? They are definitely there for me and I have had no issues doing the bandit challenges in the epilogue.

I am doing the last of the challenges and they are just like the exotics, a huge pain in the ass. I have said it before and I will say it again, R* should have made the challenges just as enjoyable as the rest of their game. This comes from one that literally are in love with story mode and all the little secrets on the map and such but the challenges are really a chore.

I fully agree with you. I have completed story mode twice and I am now completing all challenges and finding all little secrete on the map the the protagonist can scribble down in to his journal. I am very close to 100% and I can not find any secret online anymore that I have not already done or found. Still, I love the story mode so freaking much that I will play it a third time before even trying online again. Online is really not for me but I hole all that do like it, to have as much fun as possible while I stick to the story mode and the endless post epilogue as it give me much more enjoyment. A sincere greeting from Sweden and Japan as me and my wife plays together, I am a Swede and she is Japanese and I have had the influence on here so she now enjoys the old west stories 🙂

I bought all the clothes I already did not own. The weapons more or less comes with the story and I had them already primped out and fully upgraded by then. I am somewhat OCD when it comes to have my weapons clean so I always carry 99 gun oil and clean my weapons after every fight. I also stack up with 99 of all fishing things just because fishing gives me some kind of inner peace and I also love to hunt. Of course I buy horses but most money I guess will just stay in my “treasury”. But at the rate I play story mode just for fun even after epilogue, I am certain my money will run out sooner or later and then I guess I need to become a professional hunter to cover my expenses.

Good for you, I had no idea and actually still do not believe that one can increase fps by changing settings on ones TV. But if you feel it works for you, enjoy the game!

I own both a PRO and an XoneX and I prefer to play RDR2 on the PRO but it is just a personal preference. But make no mistakes about it, the XoneX no matter how great it is has been plagued by some issues in regards to the recent updates. So for picture quality go with the XoneX but if fps stability is your priority, go with the PRO 1080p with no ss or hdr. PC will exlipse them all of course and we all will have double or even tripple dipped when all versions have been released. I personally already own the game on the PRO and on the OneX and I will probably buy it on PC and even a possible remake for the next gen of consoles too. Hell, I even have a Nintendo Switch in my home as I just bought one for my kids. So many games and so little time.

This helps me since I am really new to the XoneX and normally plays most titles on the PRO. But there are definitely some titles released for all systems that I want to run one my X one my 4K tv in the living room, if my children would let me use that tv that is...

I agree, it must have been obvious to any tester at R* that the sights on the guns look bad and in some cases plain wrong. It is not like it is rocket science to understand that the sight should not be bent. So yes, R* should have made a better job with that part even if the game is mainly made for playing in third person.

I do feel for you guys and I really hope it will work out. I play on the PRO and the fps has been good even after the update and I am very grateful for that as I do not trust R* to do much right when it comes to updates and patches. I do know that when I have installed big games or updates , I always rebuild my database to clear cache memory and so forth and it maximizes the performance of the PRO. What would be the equivalent on the XoneX? I do own one but just shutting down everything and restart the console is normally enough on the X, is there any other way to make it run smoother after big updates or huge installs? If there is I would be grateful for the information and secondly I think it may be the answer to regain the lost fps. If not, then R* really screwed up since there are really no excuse to why the X should run this game worse in any way, shape or form than any competitor.

I think first person controls and views was an afterthought and not really designed properly for the game. I play it in third person and I do believe that is how it is intended. But I do feel that they should not have allowed us to play with first person controls if they cannot even line up a gun sight properly. Sorry for my English, I know my grammar is lacking.

It is present on the PS4-pro too, at least on 1080p no ss and no hdr. It is not easy to see if one does not know what to look for but it is obviously present in cinematic mode. It is almost as a ghost following the character, like how really old plasmas and LCD screens behaved when flatscreens was a new thing. No fps drops at least and still as smooth as 30 fps can be but it is still blurry. But I do prefer blurr to bad fps so I am not that irritated as many seems to be at the blurr issue. Still, the “ghosting” when riding fast is a little bit disturbing.

Hmm, interesting. I am on my way home from work as I type this. So I will very soon be able to say if it is the same on the pro. The issue now is that I am afraid to patch the game from 1.03 to 1.04. As I only play story mode, maybe I should pass for now!?

Probably there is no difference in these regards. But I will give a detailed report after I come home from work.

Same here, I am to old play online. Unfortunately I have not been home in a few days so I have not been able to play. I play on a PS4-PRO on a 1080p tv without as and no hdr, I will tell my experience after I can play this evening.

Is this in online, story mode or both?

The challenges are in my opinion the only part of the game that in some cases can be... boring. It is one of the very few designer flaws in this game imho as they could have been more enjoyable and also the rewards could have been cooler.
