But you can play in 1080p, you just put the console in 1080p and disable the suplersampling. It gets much sharper and even in the game options a bar appears to increase or decrease the sharpness. It looks better, but the motion blur is still there, and it seems that all the problems with those many filters get more visible. But the framerate is very stable, more than in xbox x. Of course, it's a "forced" option. It was to have this option in the game.

Yes, that is the only chance to play the game for me. I must aspect it. Play all other new games in the 4k mode. I don´t know why they give us no option to switch to a capped 30 1080p mode. The most other games have it. I think 60 fps is not to handle with this graphics. Is supersampling now working for you?

On this screenshot from youtube video comparing graphics on all consoles played on FHD display we can see that problem is probably not a checkerboard rendering technique implementation, but some kind of AA similar to FXAA  which gives blur effect and is used on all consoles except XB1X, where they probably realised it is not needed because of its native 4k resolution.

It looks bad now in all resolutions. The depth of field is much stronger now in singleplayer storymode. It is real unplayable in all resolutions on my 4k TV. This is a badass company. THe TAA is so strong now. The graphic is blurred on fullscreen. The picture is now blurry in motion and in stillness. Now it is totally unplayable. Only the motion blur is a little bit lesser. What can we do, that we become a better experience. I paid 70 Euro for this masterpeace of sh*t. Why no magazine see this big issues and write something about it. Ambient occlusion is lower now and the lighting looks total different to the release version. The quality is bad now. This is the poorest PS4 Pro optimized game that I ever played. This is really bad.

I don´t know how it looks in multiplayer, but this is terrible.

vaseline on my screen?

Edit:

With patch 1.05 it is playable and I really enjoy the game now, but technically the pro version is not really a pro version. Motion Blur is alittle bit lesser now.

I was watching some videos about temporal AA and yes, problem is definitely in it. They should give an option to choose another form of AA or just decrease the effect of it.

Figured I would drop this here for reference. I noticed a trail behind me while riding full speed in cinematic mode, then realized how bad the blur is depending on where you're focusing.

I was riding full speed and noticed a trail behind me (mentioned before). You can kind of see it in the second picture, but it was WAY worse than it appears. I could literally see 3-4 copies of me in the trail. Regardless of that, the amount of blur in these screenshots is ridiculous. I guess that's to make it run more smoothly?

Edit: I guess I never really noticed it because I didn't use cinematic mode too often. When I did, I wasn't paying attention to the tv.

Shut your mouth moron. Now I started the online mode and it looks much better. Persons in cutscenes are chrystal clear. If you can play tthis terrible blur sh*t in storymode, you must have eyes of an eagle. I can play poor looking titles, but I hate image blur. The picture in storymode looks totally wrong. I can play old games like assassins creed, uncharted 1, or the first gta´s or older gothic 2, but all this games have clear graphics. I started with playing with a c64 and a super nes. I hate this modern tech of taa and depth of field in game. It is good for cutscenes, but looks and feels terrible in gameplay scenes.

AH yes, the keyboard tween warrior.  Get back on your Soap Box, kiddo.  You want some Kleenex?  Maybe a pacifier?

I do not understand what people who are not seeing problems with the blur of the game are doing here. If it seems that the answers to these people are ignorant, I think it is even more ignorant to go to the thread about something that does not exist for them only to troll, or try to become superior about another person. Usually those who do this are children or someone with some problem in real life. You do not have to be patient even for people who come into the thread just to tumultualize

Downloaded 1.05 and played looking for an added option to disable depth of field effects.

I found that there is still no option to disable the dof effects that causes the out of focus blur while in 3rd person.

The dof blur is present in 3rd person but not in 1st person.  The effect is easy to see by switching from 1st to 3rd and back to 1st.

Pick a scene that looks blurry like interiors. Then switch from 3rd person to 1st person and watch the image go from blurry to not blurry.

This weird dof effect in 3rd person i believe to be the prime cause of blur complaints not related to hdr and camera motion blur.

I hate to say it, but at this point we are all better off gifting ourselves an XBO X and RDR2 for Xmas and never looking back. The game is long and replayable enough (1st person, evil run) that you can really make use of the hardware.

Unless of course you:

A. Don't have the money (totally reasonable)

B. Have other games to play - and there are a lot of decent ones (Monster Hunter: W, Spider-Man, DBZ:FighterZ, or for Switch owners, Smash & Pokemon.)

C. Stubborn

I own both a PRO and an XoneX and I prefer to play RDR2 on the PRO but it is just a personal preference. But make no mistakes about it, the XoneX no matter how great it is has been plagued by some issues in regards to the recent updates.

So for picture quality go with the XoneX but if fps stability is your priority, go with the PRO 1080p with no ss or hdr.

PC will exlipse them all of course and we all will have double or even tripple dipped when all versions have been released. I personally already own the game on the PRO and on the OneX and I will probably buy it on PC and even a possible remake for the next gen of consoles too.

Hell, I even have a Nintendo Switch in my home as I just bought one for my kids. So many games and so little time.

The drop in visuals was totally unacceptable for me on the PRO, even with your settings. On XBO X though, I also had bad fps / stability issues that I was able to fix by calibrating my TV a specific way (I have an LG C8).

Good for you, I had no idea and actually still do not believe that one can increase fps by changing settings on ones TV. But if you feel it works for you, enjoy the game!

The ONLY way I see you can "increase" your performance by setting your TV would be if you turn on the True Motion. That said, I wonder how anyone who plays with such garbage TV feature could complain about image quality.

de-judder settings smooth out frame rate issues at the expense of pixel artifacts around character while moving. It's a slider though, so it can be adjusted to a value where pixel artifacts become unnoticeable enough. That's what worked for me

I have an old 1080p LG tv and i have de-judder and de-blur set to maximum. I can not use the game setting as the de- judder and de- blur are not available.

I use those settings to remove low to moderate camera motion blur. The amount of  artifacts around the characters vary in games i have played.

Using the same LG tv hooked to my PS3 and i used the Game setting as camera motion blur is not noticeable on most last gen games i played.

Without the settings i use to remove the motion blur i would be unanable to play RDR2 and other current gen games.

Depth of field effects is another effect that is causing lots of blur while in 3rd person camera. Dof, like motion blur, has no off option provided.

So at 27% and in chapter 2 i have put RDR2 on hold as i wait for R* to add an off option to dof.

^ Don't use game mode for RDR and you'll fix the artifacts by placing de-judder to 5. Worked for me at least. Dof issues aren't happening on Xbo X so I can't help with that

Posted

De-judder not only ruins your image quality. It introduces a HUGE input lag as well. I can only imagine what it means in a game that is not as responsive.

I think if it's OK for you, I can't argue.

After considering all things and putting 2 and 2 together I came to the conclusion that I expect that RDR2 will probably be fixed for good on the PS5!

They will probably make it one of the selling points for the new console. Remastered or at least graphicly improved and/or enhanced with a new form of anti aliasing and off course 4k and true hdr!

So I won't expect a final solution myself anymore, but more of a alternative in the form of a PS5. Profit is a bitch when you know it is all and only about making money!

Also (and this has nothing to do with the hdr/blur problems), after watching a certain YouTube video, I came to the conclusion that the RDR2 game design isn't that revolutionary as many think.

Watch this video and make up your own mind:

Rockstars game design is outdated!

Also I noticed that the self proclaimed "employee of Rockstar" has been quiet, so that means that he doesn't know anymore what to say because of the lack of any true solution or he stopped trolling! 👎

My tv becomes an update and I can play it now and all of the game is great, but the graphics are not top notch, but the motion blur seems to be a lit reduced in patch 1.05 and I became no tired eyes anymore. The game is one of the best games I´ve ever played, but the technical aspects of the game destroying the immersion a little in conclusion to the xbox one x version.

This is so strange just cause becomes better graphics with the first patch and a button to turn off the blur. Nothing from Rockstar. The blur is lesser in online mode. It looks not like the one x version but it is definetely one of the best looking games now for me.

I saw it on normal playstation 4 now and it is really a shame it looks so good on the older playstation 4 and better as the ps4 pro 1080p mode. I hope the PC Version comes next year. I think the pc version leaked video cannot be a fake. We need a shading tool like reshade to decrease the issue on ps4 pro. Ok with my tv update otther games looking now a way better too. I cannot play everything else because, than the graphic looks blurry again. I mean against the other games.

First of all a happy new year to everybody, especially if you are annoyed by all the Rdr2 graphics past and present! 😬

Does this mean red and dead that the graphics and blur and hdr problems have been fixed? Let me know!
