Mac_Mittens
Is anyone having an issue with their horses not sprinting at full speed even when health and stamina are full? My horses were running just fine at first but all of a sudden stopped being able to sprint around the time that I tried the "We Loved Once and True" mission. Horse will not speed up even when hitting X 3 times or holding down. Is anyone else having this same problem? It is extremely frustrating especially since it started out of nowhere. Benjo
I've noticed it but only coming out of town. Once on the roads of the outlands it speeds up. Sounds like you might be suffering one of the 8 billion glitches in this game.
Mac_Mittens
Agreed, I'm thinking it has to be a glitch. There's no other way to explain it. Just hoping that I can figure away around it before actually just starting from the beginning again.

I to have a hard time getting my horse at full speed....I have tried everything so there might be a issue?

I am guessing there has to be an issue but I am unable to find anything online regarding this problem. It happens all over the map that I cannot get to full speed. Very frustrating. Yes its very frustrating....I hope it gets fixed, it sucks because you need that full speed to get away from bandits and lawmen? Kean_1
You're still tapping the run button, yeah? Provided your horse's stamina is ok, I wouldn't think there should be a problem. The only time i have the issue is sometimes off road or in certain areas where it is restricted. I also found out later from a "tip" notification that if you tap the run button in time with your horse's gallop, the stamina will not deplete. Yeah, I am tapping the run button and health/stamina are both full. No matter if I tap the run button or hold it, the horse no longer speeds up. I've tried with 4 different horses and run into the same problem with each. Very frustrating.
Kean_1
Sorry you're experiencing that. I hate the whole button tapping mechanic personally. I like the fact that they included a toggle feature for running but you still have to tap to sprint.
MJROu812
I am in the same boat....all stats are normal...wouldn't think it would be how much you have in your saddle bag?

This happens with and without skins on the horse. It's very strange and annoying. When I steal a horse it will sprint for the first two seconds and then will stop and never sprint again. Has to be a glitch.
Kean_1
Just spitballin' here..... How about trying the maintenance feature in the stable. I forget what it is is called but it brings you horse's levels back up. .....even if they already are, perhaps this will reset any glitch there may be in that mechanic that could be limiting the horse's sprint speed. Could also try tonics?

I've done all the tonics and everything.

Its better than a poke in the eye?

MJROu812
Just want to add, that I have ben working on the mechanics of horse controls, and I figured out how to run the horse full speed, you have to keep tapping the x button over and over again, so mac mittens try that and see if that helps?☺️
Skysaw
I've had some intermittent problems with horse speeds, though they usually clear up after a minute or two. The slowdown can happen even with cinematic camera, when I'm not doing anything but automatically following a road. Suddenly, the horse will greatly slow down, and stay slow for awhile (even with good stamina). It seems to happen more often at sharp turns and sudden inclines, but not always. MJROu812
One thing you have to factor in....is RDR2 horse mechanics are far more complex than the first RDR, from bonding to stamina and even what horse gear you have on the horse, all plays a part on how the horse performs? Real embarrassed to say this but it was the repeated tapping of X that I wasn't doing. For some reason I had been doing it when I first started but then just completely forgot about it. No glitch, no problems, just stupid human error!

Cactus
You have to change horse if it wont run, just press left on D-pad, then stables, then horses, owned horse and change it
