Not giving correct spot for manual save load

Hello everyone 😀I have an auto save for the mission “the smell of grease paint” and a manual save I did for “money lending and other sins 3”-and when I load that one so I can try and get gold, when I look on the map, there isn’t anything to indicate where Downes is-what am I doing wrong?

I'll use the time/date stamp to help figure out which save file is which. This is while looking at it in game at the load/save screen. The game will automatically assign a name to it. It seems to usually be for the mission I just completed. I think there is just 1 autosave file, that gets updated over and over again. I have sometimes loaded the wrong file, if I forget which is which. For I'll have multiple saves with the same mission name.

@Volt I am pretty sure I’m loading the correct save file-it’s the one in the second spot that isn’t the auto save file-I’m just confused as to why it isn’t loading with the icon for downes so I can try to get the gold for that mission.

Ah, okay. Now that I think of it, maybe it has to do with what time it is in your game? I had something similar happen Saint Denis. I had a marker on the map to check out a stragner. It was a woman who asks for a donation to help with something. It was approaching sundown in the game. I started off the interaction with this NPC. I was waiting for her dial to finish to use the action to give her $20. She finsihed her dial, but then I could not interact with her any further. And her icon on the map went away. The only thing that had changed was it was now becoming night. I ended up reloading things and made a B line to her to complete things before it got too late in the day.

For you, maybe try coming back at a different time?

That was my thought.  I was thinking it was an in-game time trigger.

I never understood why they wouldn't change the save slots in some way. Like have a different marker or something so you could remember which one is which. Seems silly to just make use rely on time stamps.

@Volt so are you saying that because of the time stamp when I saved it I might not be able to go back and play that mission? I did save it at night, so am I just hosed on trying to get that gold medal?

they just carried it over from RDR.  pretty simple to figure out.  saves are ordered chronologically, most recent manual save is on top.  When going to load a game the autosave is always on top, then the manual saves listed in chronological order again.

You should be able to wait until daytime, or whatever time triggers that mission to show.

You can replay any story mission, you've already completed. You can do this to get a higher medal ranking for a mission. So, if your save file did hose you on this mission, you can still replay it. Though, when you replay a mission it gives you a reduced loadout. I've done this a few times in an attempt to get a gold ranking. The reduced loadout won't be as good as your normal loadout. But still seems doable. When you initiate this process, the game creates a restore point just prior to the start of re-doing a mission. When you finish your replay of the mission, it update your ranking in that mission if you do better. And then pop you back to your restore point.

And yes, as @Kormath said above, it's your in-game time.

@Volt i was trying to avoid going that route, but since it’s just intimidating downes, and I really don’t need weapons for that mission, I can do a replay from the progress screen and nit really be out much

@Volt and I’m a little concerned that as I get farther into the game and get better weapons, that this will be an ongoing issue

Someone else on these forums has a solution for this. This was a post from a couple weeks ago. If you think this could be an issue for you, then do a manual save prior to starting a particular mission. If you don't get gold, then reload your save. Then that way you get to redo the mission with the better loadout.

I don't do this. I don't think it's that big of an issue. But, I only have a couple Golds for story missions I've completed. I'm partway through Chapter 4. But if the above save/load mechanic improves one's enjoyment of their game, then saddle up and go for it.

I tried that last night and it didn’t load where he was so I ended up having to go into the menu and choose replay mission but I did get gold 😀
