Does cutting hair more often encourage growth?

I am trying to grow my hair out again. Someone told me if I do something called "micro trims" it will grow faster. I guess getting the tips cut every 6 weeks makes this happen. To me, it doesn't make any sense. I am going to see what my sister's friend says. She used to cut my hair for me.

This sounds like the "shaving makes hair grow back thicker" thing.

No it does not. It does keep hair from breaking off though. So yeah getting your hair trimmed more often is good for that but getting too much cut off will result in it taking a lot longer to grow. My hair is nearly to my butt, I know what I am talking about lol xD

Just eat good, get sunlight, and don't you sh*t in your hair. It will grow.

People overthink the process of hair growth these days. It isn't rocket science.
