Scammed into buying gold for Arabian horse

Went to the stable about a week ago and noticed that I could buy the black Arabian horse early if I were to use gold. At least that's what the game was telling me, it even let me hit buy now with gold, and it took me straight to the store saying I didn't have enough gold. Thinking I could get a head start I went ahead and purchased the right amount of gold needed. Precisely $20 worth in US currency. After returning to the game I was unable to buy the horse.

 

I've contacted Rockstar Support probably ten times since this has happened. I'm continuously getting emails from different Representatives saying that they know the issue is present because others have complained about it. They are unwilling to refund me my $20 and take the gold back out of my account. This in my opinion is a cheap and dirty way to scam people into spending more money on this game. Absolutely unacceptable. I was a big supporter of Rockstar and now over a $20 bill I'm starting to get the hint that they are just money hungry.

 

I've asked three different times to speak to a manager or supervisor and I'm constantly getting beat around the bush. Shame on you Rockstar you guys are a joke.

I think your biggest issue is expecting it to be resolved immediately.

You were told that they're working on it. Just have a little patience. If you REALLY needed that $20, you wouldn't have spent it on in-game currency in the first place.

If you had actually looked closer. When you click on the horse you want to buy. It actually tells you the rank you have to be, to buy that horse. You made a mistake and it is RS fault? 
It says nothing about asking players if they want to buy any horse early. Stop lying! It says you want to use gold to buy this horse. That is assuming you are at the correct rank to purchase.

 When you're new at the game and you're not sure how everything works and it gives you the option to buy now, to me and many others it looks like it was giving me the option to buy early. There's no lies here, it definitely made it seem like if you use gold you wouldn't have to wait until that rank. Everything else at those high levels won't even give you the option to buy now with gold until you rank up to those specific levels. How dare you call me a liar when I'm not the one at fault.

Also why would I lie about this smart-ass? I'm not trying to get my money back without giving them their gold back. Every single email that I've sent them ask them to specifically take the 50 gold bars back out of my account and give me my $20 back. You're pathetic to get on here and call somebody a liar when you don't know the whole story.

No need to argue. It looks like you may have made a mistake with the purchase OP. If you need to clarify something, just contact Rockstar. They been being decent at getting back to people. They might help you with a response.

Well I didn't get scammed, because I did use my big boy brain. The "fine print" is an expression of checking everything before shelling out cash. I'm not the fool whose complaining about being scammed.

They fixed this during one of the updates, after everyone was getting their Arabian by getting gold, when they added the "buy gold".  Then was when the nipped it in the bud.  So if you got it before then, you are ok.  After the fact, now we get "Tough, this is a beta.  We can change the rules as we like and just saying we are doing it for the sake of the game."  

I was about the same, when they gave gold away.  I realized I had enough, went in to buy it and was denied.  After asking around, I was told it was patched with an update.  Too many players was buying it before they ever reached the level to actually buy it.  Other things got pinched at that time as well.

The exact reason why I urged folks repeatedly to delay in purchasing gold.  Anything purchased during beta could be subject to rollbacks or worse.

There's little in terms of recourse for consumers/customers either, thanks to the standard EULA boilerplate language that guarantees arbitration instead of litigation in the event  someone wants to challenge this.

Unfortunately, there isn't much of a leg to stand on.  Review the EULA; the best you can hope or is arbitration.l

I guess at this point you need to calm down.  It really sucks you wasted money that you really didn't need to.  I was at the same place, but I had the gold and it wouldn't let me buy the stuff.  Trust me, when I say some of us understand.  You got to remember that not everyone online will be supportive or welling to understand why you did what you did.  They just won't feel sorry for you and of they have their opinion that they will gladly pass onto you.  Good luck with getting your money back and if you don't you have a jump start on when you get to the level it unlocks.
