The_Liquor Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Yes. Chat seems restricted to blue blip range... Now l, on the not me of people making inaudible sounds, or not saying anything meaningful... did you try to engage them in any way (with the mic, not your guns lol). It could very well be that many are just riding around not bothering to talk because of the Psyco-Mute Phenomenon (I’m not sure if I created it, but I think psycho-mute should become a thing). I ask because I’ve found the quite guys (where you hear nothing but mild background noise) are usually more than willing to have some form of communication but for whatever reason (months of dealing with psycho-mutes perhaps) they just don’t bother initiating.
Redstaski Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 The one aspect of using a mike that seems to have been missed is that not all people playing RDR2 speak the same language. Myself, I play with a lot of people in Brazil, they speak Portuguese, I play with people in Quebec, they speak French, I play with people in Libya, they speak Arabic, having a mute mike makes sense. 2
The_Liquor Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 True. Being an international game it’s bound to have the odd language issue. That being said, when people are on the mic they almost always seem to be speaking English on the servers I land on. I think they tend to direct people regionally as much as possible minimizing language issues for the most part. 1 minute ago, Redstaski said: The one aspect of using a mike that seems to have been missed is that not all people playing RDR2 speak the same language. Redstaski Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 Yeah, you are right, they do direct players to regional networks but they are fairly general, all of North America, all of South America, all of Europe etc are lumped together. When I do encounter non-English speaking players it depends on the time of day, late at night it seems to be Korean, early morning its Australian, office hours its European, dinner time its American, late evening its Brazilian, I work rotating shifts so I play at strange hours

About 3 hours was freeroam (including one King of the Castle event), and the rest were showdowns - a combination of various lone wolf and team games. I can report my findings as follows: People whose names occasionally appeared as in chat, but largely inaudible: about 6 - 10 - some came and went so quickly I wasn't sure whether they were different people Loud breathers: 4 Loud music: 6 (mainly crappy, but with one Rolling Stones track to mitigate the situation) Whiny Kid arguing with his mum about his chores: 1 Players talking to someone else not in game: 3 Trash talker: 1 (self proclaimed master of King of the Castle (he wasn't)) People actually talking to each other in game: 4 (2 sets of 2) 1 pair just general daily chat, one pair (freeroam) actually talking about what mission/hunting they would do next, and commenting on passers by. People talking tactics in a team PvP match: Zero, out of 6 matches played Now, that is just a snapshot of what I saw last night. I wish it was different, and that there was actually either some wild west interaction or team tactical talk going on, but there wasn't, as far as I saw. Thanks for telling me how to play the game 😜, but I think I'll stick to my original plan. At least you actually tried it, for that my hat is off to you man, I get it and if those are the results, sigh..then I understand. If more people tried stuff I think all in all the game woudl get even better. I think my main thing is this. If we get into a pvp game like the territory game or one of the other team based games, I woudl say at least try it for a minute ethere, if nobody answers or is talking about strategy then mute it and forget it, but if you happen to join and I am in there, lol together we can talk strategy, we can have a laugh and we can dominate. I just hate playing those p[articular modes when nobody talks, look some days I go in and try, but still noone responds, so I just hang in there until the frustration is too much and I quit, lol.
lumper Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 I tried the new pvp mode last night, the vip one I forget what its called, anyway, people were killing me with dyno arrows, lol, that was a first for me, so I went out and equipped them and came back and returned the favor, it was a litle fun, but showdown sucked. I have to figure out what cards are working best after the update, I think PIB and shotgun is the combo right now and varmit rifle, I dont use the Varmit in pvp, I have been using Springfield and lancaster with dual sawed off's or LAmats, its ok, but not great. It feels like slow and steady is nerfed and not working, so never without one is useless now, and I am thinking maybe slow and steady too, I was definitely getting killed with head shots, and a tier III Slow and steady says headshots wotn kill you outright, but, they sure did, so I dunno have to experiment a little and swap some cards in and out. Im just glad I have so many cards, I have all the "good ones" lol

You sound like me back in the 1st week of RD O. R* effective killed off competitive pvp with their choices. The only pvp modes I like is Shoot Outs and Team Shoot Outs. So being able to actually play that game mode is next to impossible. Forget playing team shoot outs with friends.. No free aim lobbies either. GTA4, RDR1, GTA O.. Had it right. Hosted lobbies, based on aim modes, host can tweak options, can play public and private. Also PVP modes need to lock it to weapon wheel only. So no tonics and food.

Yeah its a mess, these modes suck, some are ok, but it is nearly impossible to play them unless you have friends who play and you do it together, I can see where that woudl be fun, but if you are like me, and have next to no friends on xbox then that isnt in the cards, so as a lone player it is awful. Between the teams shuffling for no reason just before the game starts, people not working together, people using dyno arrows in pvp, etc.. it is unplayable. I have zero enjoyment these days, not to mention the cards are all nerfed I dont know what works and what doest anymore, slow and steady doesnt work as it should, never without one doesnt work, I dont know about the rest as I havent put in much time lately, I tried for a few days but got stressed trying to navigate it all so I bailed.
