  1. That seems a bit excessive in terms of price, especially given the limitations of the current game. Guess it's back to waiting and seeing.
  2. Interesting to see if the patch affects this. I have an Xmas work thing to go to so I can't play till later today, sadface.
  3. No wipe planned - I know Sky already saw this in another thread but figured I'd put the answer here for anyone reading this thread. Fishing junk and clothes, personally. Yeah, the rank locks a pain, but I found a few items I like.
  4. It's how I make money, Sky. Only during the day and north of St Denis. Look for flocks, there are some on the ground but flocks are your big money.
  5. New update: "We appreciate all the continued feedback we are receiving on the Red Dead Online Beta. For players concerned about the potential for progress and stat resets, we currently do not have any plans to reset them as part of the Beta's rollout. We are currently still working on game stability and economy balancing for an update that we hope to release later this week. Please stay tuned for more news to come." Source: Rockstar's Twitter.
  6. The lack of the trapper and legendary animals really does bother me. My initial thought, before I saw the character generator and played RDO, was to make a Native American character who would primarily live in the wilderness, trading pelts and carcasses with the trapper in order to survive. From what Rockstar have said, it SEEMS to be the kind of idea they would encourage. "We want all the actions the player does to make sense", they want us to live in this world but this world feels so very less evolved than the single player world. Would adding some things to multiplayer mean looking at changes to make them fit? Sure. Otherwise you'd have people just camp the robbable homesteads, continually jumping the train, farming legendary animals et al, but even I in my completely non game related profession can think of ways to make those work in this regard. I want to live in this world, but I need the world to be livable. RDR2 I could and did play for weeks, ignoring the main storyline, just existing. Living. Providing. Let me do that with other people. Form relationships, rivalries, friendships. The promise is there, it is just how they deliver upon it.
  7. You can steal canoes off the coast of St Denis. I tried to steal a steamboat but there's no driving compartment. Tried swimming to the big one but got teleported to shore.
  8. Thanks to everyone who has participated in the Beta so far, we appreciate your help in testing the game! Your feedback from these early days will be instrumental in helping formulate updates to every aspect of the experience. Our current areas of focus include the in-game economy, which will require some additional balancing in order to ensure all activities are appropriately rewarding and fun, as well as some persistent bugs that are causing some players to be kicked from sessions. The game has been developed so that we will be able to quickly make any adjustments like these, and we plan to get updates out as early as the end of this week with more updates to come next week. Feedback from the community has been invaluable, and we will continue to keep you regularly updated as things progress. We hope you continue to play and enjoy the game, and please keep sending your feedback to reddeadonline.com/feedback. Much like this text, copy / pasting may have been a bad idea!
  9. Shouldn't happen on your horse unless it respawns. The corpses disappearing is, in theory, a server clutter feature that is overturned. Hopefully they will lengthen the distance on body deshawn, especially at bandit camps.
  10. Okay few tips to make bird hunting north of St Denis work better for you. Varmint rifle everything. It will perfect the birds. Hug the shoreline up then come down the other side of the tracks going back. Eyes to the sky. This is the most important bit. Plucking a kill? Look to the sky. Individual birds are fine but it's the flocks you want. Kill a flock of herons, with a little luck on quality that's 10 Heron Plumes. 1.75 each, 17.50 for 10. Stick two perfects on your horse as a bonus. Even crows and ravens add up. Pelicans come in at 1.50 each feather, 15 for 10. Theres another one that comes in at 1.95 per feather if you get a real lucky flock. Can you play cross system on RDO? I'd be happy to show you the best spots. It does vary, but not to the point of that low. A bad turn in for me is $40ish.
  11. I play solo. I have also decided to wear a white coat, to signify my non griefing intentions! And waste some money.
  12. Sorry. Yes, I read your whole post. Yes, I read that your gun disappeared. I've played two characters to above level 15 and never had that happen. At the end of the day though, you want exploits. If you don't like the way the game is, wait till it releases, don't play the beta. Oh and don't try to act high and mighty when you are sitting there saying "Hey guys, how do I cheat? But don't judge me, yo."
  13. Yeah, that'll be it, Krooked. I just hit 'positive' honor by hunting (Skinning animals is really honorable, considering I shoot passerbys and loot them fairly often.) Suddenly I unlocked the "Gunslinger" path. Dammit. I want to be dishonorable! LET ME DAMMIT!
  14. Fairly sure there's the option, I'll log in and check. I know you can buy any of the camp upgrades with gold. I think the level 90 tent or what have you was 800 something gold when I looked last night. Okay, you were correct, it doesn't work with weapons until the rank is unlocked. When the rank is unlocked you can use gold instead of cash, ie, I can buy the Repeating Shotgun for $724, or 29 gold. Tents are definitely rank skippable but apparently weapons are not. So, that's something.
  15. You can use gold bars to purchase any $ item "early" I believe. So you can skip the rank requirement by paying real money, which would allow a level one character to use a repeating shotgun if they chose to purchase it with gold.
  16. But then don't you discriminate against the young'uns? Yeah, they can be annoying, but a lot of them just want to play. I've also run in to 'adult' griefers and trolls in other games. There should be a detriment to unprovoked killing of a player so it is dealt with in game in a way that makes sense for the time and setting.
  17. Oo yeah. The I can see you wherever you are blips have to go. That would give people so much more agency to avoid other players / trolls. Why do we have handheld satellite GPS in the 1800's!?
  18. 100% on board with this. This is the game I imagined RDO would be.
  19. Hammer, I somewhat agree with you. I am banking on the idea that the more fish you have, the more money you can make. So I am hoping they will try to make it a playable, fun game to get as many people in as possible then try to promote the gold sales. Is it the perfect answer? Not close, but it may be the best we can hope for. If they do continue the rather blatant "If you want to play this and enjoy it, buy gold" theme that it currently has, I will quit and not look back. Which is saddening, since I was incredibly hyped for RDO, even more than for the single player (Which was phenomenal.) Just keeping my hopes high and my fingers crossed.
  20. "Bird hunting can be extremely profitable. Since most birds travel in flocks of two or more there is serious potential to earn a lot of cash by shooting down as many birds as you can. The Varmint Rifle or a repeater are your best options for taking down birds." This, so many times this. Herons, varmint rifle, 3 feather per kill, 10 feathers - 15 dollars. All fits in your satchel, no chance to lose it. Turkeys, not so great but they're so prolific you may as well fill your bag with them, it'll take half a minute. Pelicans, 17.50? I think? For 10. There's something that goes for $20 for 10 feathers, can't remember what it is but it's near the pelicans and herons. Crescent something maybe? At any rate, 10 minutes along the San Denis shoreline during the day usually nets you $40-60. If you have the bolt action, grab a perfect alligator skin ( $3.50, but it all adds up ) and kill a few more to max out your Big Game Meat and Alligator Tooth's. Did not know buck pelts went for that much, that's actually a decent farm, given that they are prolific and that you can lasso them. Don't quote me on this but I believe only deer / bucks are lassoable. That's certainly all I've managed to lasso in multiplayer or singleplayer but there may well be others I just never tried on. I love posts like these, keep the positivity and community going. ❤️
  21. I think that is a very mature view. You have played, given your feedback and now seek to avoid frustration. I think the main reason people push themselves to play is the possibility of it carrying to live, but if you are not enjoying the experience, you are hurting yourself for perceived gain which may or may not eventuate. I honestly feel that R* should just say "Sorry folks, we're going to wipe at end of beta" It would save people a lot of frustration. The main, proper reason to play at the moment is to give more feedback, test what you can and hopefully help the game become what we all want it be at the end of the day, fun. You should only do that, however, if you find the experience in someway satisfying. There is no good reason to push yourself to play a game that has no guarantee of (A) Maintaining current progress, and (B) Being the game that it will be post beta.
  22. My favorite is "Hey, boss is hunting in New Austin?" Five seconds later. *Cripps has moved your camp to The Grizzlies*. All I imagine is my character dropping to their knees, looking up at the sky and screaming, "KHAAAAAAAAAAAN!" .. Or Cripps...
  23. I believe Gunslinger is honorable, Outlaw is not. Holy crap. I thought I replied to this but apparently I never hit submit. Definitely stops after "Kill them all", honorable or dishonorable.
  24. Does the money situation suck currently? Yes. Is it a released game? No. It is beta. So what you are saying is that rather than test the game and offer feedback about what is wrong, you will do something you consider to be exploiting in order to benefit yourself. I have no issue with that. You do you. However "before you judge me"? Bugger off, mate. You willingly exploit in a sodding beta, you are being judged. Would you like a legitimate way to make decent money? I know it is not what you asked for but I will tell you anyway. Birds. Outside Saint Denis is easiest. Herons, pelicans, loons, ducks. Anything that flies. 40-60 dollars for ten minutes work. Only works during daylight though. Exploiting for personal gain hurts everyone who plays by unbalancing the economy. Is it crap right now? Yes. So offer feedback on the beta. Tell them what they need to fix to make the game successful and fun. Don't use it as an excuse to game the system.
  25. I did full honourable, ended after Fort Mercer. I rerolled ( I didn't like the way my character looked ) and this time, I have run with folks who actually vote to be dishonourable (Woo!) so getting different missions. Will see if it goes further but my guess at this point would be that's the end of what is in this beta build.
