There was a whole episode a few years ago where Sheldon couldnt decide whether to buy the xbox one, or the ps4, he went back and forth and in the show they discussed at length the features and benefits of both, including removable hard rives, new ram types, cooling, etc.. very thorough actually, and after that they discussed gta and rdr, so who knows who paid who for what, but it is cool they talk about it on tv, in a popular show,. they talk about lots of games and Sheldon has both I think a ps4 and xbox one, of course now who knows if they upgraded or not, lol

Caught and mailed all 13 legendary fish with Arthur, now what?
lumper replied to lumper's question in Questions & Answers
After I played the first mission in chapter 4, the one in the cemetery I went to Blackwater. I read that if you fail to go undetected in the cemetery that after that mission you can enter the lower map and nobody will bother you as long as you dont break the law, or get in to trouble so I tried it, I shot the last guard at the cemetery gate then escaped, and it worked, I took Arthur all over the lower map, he wrote in his journal about the crashed flying machine and the donkey lady, etc.., I hunted the legendary animals and caught the legendry fish, I found the remaining dino bones, gathered some herbs, and then headed back, I forgot to get a few animals down there like the gilla monster or armadillo but otherwise I was satisfied with having done the hunting and dinosaur bones. Anyway as far as I know I can probably go back, I havent tried it, as I only wanted the bones, and animals so Arthur could experience those things. In my last play through the dino lady commented how it had been 7 years, same with Agernon wasp. so I figured this time, I would try to get more done with Arthur. But I fear now I will have to wait for the epilogue now for Gil. Lump -
Caught and mailed all 13 legendary fish with Arthur, now what?
lumper posted a question in Questions & Answers
The problem is, I am not getting an invite from Jeremy Gill now, once I mailed them all in. In my previous play through, I started these with Arthur and finished with John, so that made sense, but now, I am just waiting for the invite, I assume it isnt coming because Arthur isnt allowed south of Blackwater, although I was able to go down there as Arthur and hunt all the legendary animals and fish. Anyway, so what now? do you think the game will simply wait for the epilogue to continue this? If so on what pretext, why wait 7 years to follow up? Arthur mailed the fish not John, Im just a little confused, I assumed whoever mailed them, would get the invite and them maybe just like I did earlier I could go with Jeremy to Rio wherever and fish for the catfish together, That would make sense, and they cold simply add a cut scene to put you on location with Jeremy and then after the mission have you re-spawn across the river back in fair territory. after all I was able to get there and fish in the first place, so why not now? Anyway if Arthur wasnt supposed to catch those fish, I think the game could have done more to facilitate that, like not have the legendary fish notification pop up when you are there and just not spawn the legendary fish for Arthur, the very fact that they do made me think this was going to work. I dont mind waiting, I just think it is stupid, the story doesnt make sense if Jeremy waits 7 years to invite Arthur who is long gone at that point, how would he even know how to get in touch with John for example? I guess I got a little ahead of myself, anyone else find themselves in this situation? Lump -
So, I got the pamphlet, read it, I have the ingredients for both poison throwing knives and poison arrows, BUT I can not craft them. It shows the ingredients, I have them, but it is grayed out, and not available. It is really irritating as I am trying to complete both survivalist and herbalist and in both I am stuck at a crafting challenge. I have oleander sage, knives, and arrows, plus tons of other stuff, this is the first time I noticded the issue after I decided to look closely at what was keeping me from completing this challenge, and I found in fact I have what I need in both cases and they simply arent available. When in craftng menu you can select show all and when I do, it shows me poison knives for example, and under ingredients it shows what it needs and then what I have so it makes no sense at all to me, unless I am missing something, and I often do, so I thought I would ask for help with this, maybe others have had a similar problem and found a work around or way to get this done? Thanks for reading Lump EDIT It occurred to me that the throwing arrows I am carrying are already poison coated, and I havent used them, so, I am going to use them, go back to my base, get more and then see if I can craft the poison knives/arrows, I dunno worth a shot I guess. So, I got new arrows, and new knives, but still I can not craft poison arrows or knives, even though I have the ingredients, so... I dunno if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I did the camp item request with I think Javiar where he asks you for Oleander for making poison blades, and then at some point I found or bought the pamphlet too, because I have it and read it, so I dunno what is going on with my game.

Not sure if any of this is spoiler worthy, I dont think so, but please let me know if it is and I need to cover it or delete it or anything. Dated 1806 a Letter to Douglas Gray from Lucille Braithwaite. It reads about how they are in love and want to be together and that she is in exile in Connecticut, ( I live in Ct),. She goes on to say, "Use that gold I told you about to provide funding for two years of operation so they can keep pressure on congress to abolish the importation of slaves into this country" She says, "They will not notice it missing or they will assume the other stole it" Lastly she goes on to say, "Then come for me my love as we planned, and we will flee somewhere far away....." I found this very interesting, this answers what happened to the Gray/Braithwaite gold that everyone was talking about in chapter 3 and wondering where it was, even the deputy mentions it in a mission and how it is more myth than real and folks arent even sure anymore what happened ... I was farming gators for big game meat north of St Denis east of the tracks and way out toward the waters edge, I found a lock baox half burried in the mud, I just stumbled upon it. If you want exact location, here it is. I never noticed this before but on the map, just south of Bluewater Marsh it says "Lagras" and under that "Lakay", just under Lakay it says N W A , i dont know what it stands for, and never noticed it until today, but using that as a landmark from the "A" look directly east, across the tracks, and see several small islands, it was out on one of the furthest from shore right there somewhere. Has anyone else found this letter or seen or heard of this before? Lump

So, I dont know if the Rockstar folks have an in with The producers of The Big Bang Theory, but a few years ago in an episode Sheldon was playing rdr and they showed it on screen he was drinking in a bar. Well last night, in prime time, season 12 I think, in the episode featured RDR2!! They only showed it for a second or two, and it was just Arthur walking in a standard load out outfit from behind, Leonard asked, why are you walking? and Sheldon replied he lost his horse, Leonard said, so just get a new one, and Sheldon replied, he wasnt over grieving for his horse that died while being struck by a train. I thought that was very cool, to see the game featured albeit for a few seconds with a few lines of dialogue for a second time. I cant help but think someone has an in, as the actors probably dont care about the game. Either way it was pretty cool to see our beloved game on a prime time tv show. Funny thing is a week or so ago I saw the re-run episode of the one where they are p;laying rdr and I said to my wife, I wonder if they will update it now that the game has a sequel/prequel and it is much better? and a week or so later Bang!! lol very cool.

WoW, thats great man!! See, to be honest, I really didnt understand how to play an open world game, I thought I did but really I was fooling myself. I didnt realize how much or how in general the game developers were utilizing the technology, with easter eggs, hidden messages, and items, missions, etc.. I had no idea that they were putting in so much time and detail. After my first playthrough I was overwhelemed but knew I missed way too much, my second playthrough was just me trying to see everything I missed, but not in order or in an organic kind of way, so.... This time for me was because I learned what they are going for with this type of game. I get it now, and I cant wait for the next Pre Quil I hope, but whatever happens, open world games will never be the same, now they will be forced to live up to RDR2 nad this level of detail, although I fear that few will ever do as well, most companies have budgets and time tables and such, but time will tell.

On my 3rd playthrough, and absolutely loving it. Long story so I wont bore you with it. What I have noticed on this play through while I am more focused and less overwhelmed are all the litle things I missed previously. Uncle showing his ass around the campfire and mooning, I think Marston, I forget, comes to mind, or one of my favorites, who knew Sean and Karen hooked up? it was really funny, they got together in Marstons tent, and after a little dialogue had a very short interlude, that left Karen unsatisfied, and Sean talking about his, "Sean Jr" lol It is these moments, I moved too quickly in previous attempts to play the game to really take notice. Fishing with the guys, taking pics of the group interacting while Arthur watches from a distance can be great fun. I went out of my way to talk to everyone at camp mutliple times a day when I am there and at night, and listen very carefully to everyone that will talk to you. It is the little things that really make the game, the small details, the Agnes Dowds of RDR2, little hidden stories with clues everywhere if you pay attention, but the camp/group interactions are my favorite.

So, I was thinking after playing the game and seeing how amazing it is with all the enhancements and additions and npc ai etc.. How great would it be to have them next release another pre quil? So the next game starts when Dutch meets Hosea, and then after a chapter or two, they met up with Arthur, as a 15 year old kid, the story would show how Dutch met Hosea, and what he was doing a few years before that, and then takes you til you meet Arthur and then goes on all the way up til the Robbery at Blackwater that sets the events of RDR2 in motion, it would end as you escape Blackwater for the MTs, it woudl show Jenny, Mac and Davey, their roles in the gang, how they died, etc.. The game beckons for more story, and there is alot of story left on the bone here, just keep going backwards. If they did follow this path, you would get the next gen game on the new console coming out in a year or two, with even better flowing graphics and ai. by the time that game was released, added onto etc.. would be 5 years from now? maybe less? and then maybe an anniversary edition of the original story replayed on the latest game engine and graphincs after that to wrap up the story mode in High Quality. So you get rdr2 in 2018, rdr3 in 2022/23, and then in 2024, 20 years after its original release you get the re released RDR in native 4k, remapped, all enhancements etc.. They could be working on rebuilding the original with a special team in the background while production on rdr3 goes on simultaneously. Anyway just a fantasy, Obviously a company like Rockstar has many considerations to make and profits have to be the driving force, not nostalgia or love for the game. Our only hope is that it continues to be money maker well into the future. I think it will have special considerations, like Goldeneye, it will be remembers as the game that changed everything, the game that took open world design to a whole new level. This would make me very happy, if they did something like this, another prequel, completing the story, from Dutch beginning his life on the road as a 15 year old kid when he left home and his mother in Philadelphia, to when he met the guys and formed the gang, and how that happened, how they met, according to the stories you get in rdr2. Fingers crossed that they dont get it in their head to fall in love with another project and pour all these great advancements into another project leaving rdr2 behind, and remembered as the game that introduced this level of open world game play.

which shotgun? I have the pump, semi auto, and double barrel plus special I think from the hermit lady or guy? I am not sure if I know of another.

Yep, I am in my third play through, and loving it more than ever. The first time I played the game I really didnt understand how open world games really worked and what game developers were capable of and what they are actually doing with these type games. The second time I played through it was because I felt like I left so much out the first time through. But what happened was I was just running around collecting stuff around the story missions and in the end it was fun, but not as good as it could be. The third time through though, I decided to mix it all together, so I play a story mission or two, then a stranger mission or two, then I go free roaming to try and get he satchel upgrades. Each time I do this I work on one thing or the other, like I have all the satchel upgrades by the first mission in chapter 3 and I would have had it in chapter 2 but I didnt realize I could get a panther early on, I was thinking I had to get hunter challenge 10 done so I could hunt the legendary Panther but as you know it is not necessary, so I stopped working on the challenge, ( challenge 6, skin 5 cougars after killing them with a bow, I have 2 left) this was taking me some time as they are tough to spawn regularly. Anyway I am having so much more fun, I have almost all of chapter 3 to do yet and I have done 9 companion items and delivered them, and I have the pipe and compass for when they eventually ask, I have the satchel upgraded to the max one, I have 4 legendary animals and 2 fish, 2 gunslingers, etc.. Doing it this way what is happening is I get to begin the chapter story, then do a few stranger missions, then go hunting and exploring. I went and got the white Arabian, and kept my horse out too and went on a legendary animal hunt, where I can carry two full size loads plus countless skins. I was able to carry a Black Bear, am Elk and a Legendary fish by carrying it myself lol anyway it is very satisfying working through the game in this way. When I go back to Rhodes in a little bit and go meet Dutch in town to kick off the story missions, I will feel like I already got the stuff I need like the horse, satchel, dead eye upgrades, etc.,. and it is just more fun. I dont even mind the Epilogue that much, I know it is slow and a little boring, but if you are like me, and did all the camp chores everytime they were ready to be done, you are used to it, the Epilogue was fun, but getting through it well sets up the rest of the game, all the stuff you can do in the southern part of the map and all that, so I really dont mind it at all. I wish there were more to do in that part of the map, a few chapters worth of stuff would be great, since we have the map and everything is in place, but I digress. I also grabbed a ton of items in the swamp when I was there so I am way ahead of the game when we get to chapter 4 and spend time in St Denis. anyway seriously, the third time playing the game is awesome!! It took me two other times to "Get it". Now my OCD is doing the rest. It feels very complete and fun this way. RDR2 ruined all my other games so may as well play it til I am sick of it If someone was going to begin now and asked me, I would suggest they do a similar thing, with a short list of items to get first, but the satchel upgrades are probably the most significant. My short list of things I wish were in the game, The ability to hang people The ability to climb trees The ability to use the lasso for other things like lowering yourself over a edge or pulling yourself up a cliff, etc.. Blacksmiths, we never have to deal with a horse shoe or anything and every town should have a livery and blacksmith, plus you coudl add road maintenance by having to do shoe repairs etc.. Using the telegraph, sending and receiving messages at times, would be helpful. That is my short list, hard to say I dont like anything in the game, I do, I love it.

2nd play through was fun but 3rd time is the charm. Literally took me the first play through to see the story, the second play through was to collect stuff I missed, the third play through is to collect everything but as I go, to get the satchel upgrades in chapter 2 so for the rest of the game I have the max satchel, that alone makes a world of difference, I also grabbed the Arabian early on, and stuff like that, Im in chapter 3 at the very beginning, I have only done a fishing mission with Javier, one with Dutch and Hosea and I took Sadie to the store, thats it, otherwise I have been free roaming and while I am out there, I am grabbing all the dreamcatchers, dino bones and rock carvings I come across, doing the hunter, herbalist and horseman challanges too and all before the middle of chapter 3. It is so much more fullflilling this time through, knowing about many things I had no idea about the first time is making it very satisfying. This game has ruined all my other games though, I have far cry 5, with the gold edition, so it came with fc 3 and 3 or 4 dlcs, etc.. but it just doesnt compare visually and so I cant get excited about it. Ive waited a long time for rdr2 level of graphics in an open world game, wee talking since 1975 when I had pong and texas instrument pc products.

No problem, thanks for answering, I think it was a glitch as I played the game through twice and I am on my third go around now. I didnt understand it but there was no crafting fire until after all but the final mission, and it was freaking me out, as I was out of everything and unable to craft. Hopefully with patches and stuff others wont find this to be an issue.

Honestly neither do I, I assume they will move forward with this game engine and make a new game, plus work on online, etc.. I would love to see them remap the game with this engine but the cost, and time it would take for a game that is already released and everyone is aware of, I dont know how successful it would be, I think only die hard's and those who really appreciate this game engine would buy the original game again, I definitely would, but far and as a business I dont see Rockstar going down that road.

So, I am in my third play through, I know long story..... I am in chapter 2, very early on, and in camp I found a busted wagon part way over the cliff at Horseshoe over look where Karen and another girl were hanging out, I walked over to say hi, and as I was leaving I found a note on a barrel, it said, "Dutches speech notes", and it is a speech he wrote, it sounds a lot like the speech he gave in Colter, parts of it anyway. Has anyone else played the story mode more than once and kept finding new things? The note I hadnt seen mentioned anywhere, I am not sure who else found it, I kept it in my satchel.

I play games for the graphics and the better they get the better I like them, from Zaxxon, to Goldeneye to Half life, to Crysis, to Veitcong, to cod ww2, to RDR2 has been a heck of a ride. I love this game so much, I played through the story mode quickly, then replayed it to go slower and find all the things I could, then at 94% complete and story 100% I decided maybe it would be cool to get and play rdr again, its been 10 years, I really never played the story, I tried the game and it was cool, but I never really got into it too much. I thought it would be cool to keep going with the story and play it now as a sequel, well let me tell you, Rockstar did such an amazing job with rdr2 that it is really hard to go back. Im trying, Ive done a few missions, and I am free roaming, it is neat to find stuff I found in rdr2 while free roaming now, etc.. but all in all I can not get into it, it just lacks so much of what made rdr2 awesome that although I want too I just keep thinking about how great EVERYTHING in rdr2 is compared to rdr. even picking plants, it is so detailed and specific now, in comparison I am having a tough time enjoying the rdr stuff, I just keep thinking of how much it lacks compared to its prequil sequal release. I wish I had stuck it out 9 years ago when I had the game on my 360, I think I am going to go for a third play through over playing rdr1. Honestly I would pay a premium for rdr1 to be redun with the new engine, so it looks and plays like rdr2, I would 110% buy it all over again and play it all over again, there is so much to these games, I just feel like the first game would benefit greatly, more people would play it and the sequel would make a lot more sense. Anyway just my day dreaming fantasy for today, I cant say enough about this game, it literally took over my winter, I havent played another game in months or left my house unless it was necessary, I opted to stay in from the cold New England weather and play RDR2 until I dropped. If they added a feature to hang people, to use your lasso for many other things like tree climbing and stuff, I think rdr2 would be perfect. It is a game changer, I cant imagine playing an open world game any less beautiful than this, I bought far cry 5 and havent even looked at since the day rdr2 was released, I started fc5 but after a day of exploring, I got rdr2 and now it just sits there, my fav game cod ww2 hasnt been touched in 3 months, and that was my daily go to. Thank you for the awesome game!!

UPDATE: So after completing all but the very last mission at Beechers Hope, I finally got a crafting fire and now can craft at home or on the road,. I still think on my first play through I had a crafting fire from the get go but maybe Im mistaken, I dunno. Anyway I have it working, so no worries. Lump

So, I have crafted all game, I am in the Epilogue, as Marston, we built Beechers hope, Abigale is back, etc.. I have a camp fire that is burning outside but I can only sit at it or pour coffee, no option to craft, I do not have a second fire anywhere, I did in a previous playthrough, I know I was able to craft things before. For some reason even if I leave Beechers hope, go hunting, then hit Y on Xbox to "rest" normally I would get choices, sleep, craft, etc.. but now when I leave the ranch and try this, I get craft menu, but every item I have to craft stays grayed out and I can not hit use or craft, etc.. I dont understand why, I went out and hunted a fresh deer, stopped almost immediately to craft its meat with spices to make some food provisions, and again same thing, I simply can not craft any food. It will let me craft weapons/ammo as long as I do it a craft/rest spot I set up off Beechers, but no food, and at Beechers I can not even get a rest menu/craft menu. Can anyone help me figure out what is going on? did I do something out of sequence or did I not do something yet> What did I miss? It is very frustrating as I need to eat and to stock up on items before I go on anymore missions, I am depleted and one more big gun fight I will be out of everything. Thanks for any help

I had $8400 in Chapter 6, and I never robbed a store, train, person, or house, the money is everywhere. I did a lot of hunting and worked towards satchels and I sold anything I didnt need, I looted every body I could in every mission, I did the treasure hunts, and found several others, well loot spots, etc.. anyway without any robbing at all, I was up to $8400 I think I have two treasure hunts still to do, all the robberies, and whatever else. Sadly this game is time consuming, I say sadly only if you dont have a lot of time to play, its every bit as fun but will take a while, and sometimes leaving and coming back can make you forget organic encounters that might have happened. Make sure to talk to everyone you come across everywhere you do, it will lead to lots of other side stuff that pays well.
-
I think he said he didnt want to use a map, or guide, so best advice is to know they are there, and everywhere you go, use eagle eye/dead eye to look for tips, clues and interesting things,. I have done it both ways, I was not finding any and getting overwhelmed then I decided to look up one, and use a map, after that and seeing a generally layout of where some others were, I just kept my eyes open in those areas, and found them, especially the rock carvings, some of those are tough. I thought the same thing, if you do this with no maps, it is going to take a while. As far as getting into the lower part of the map, there is a simple way that works, you just have to do the bronto mission, I wont spoil anything here, but you can easily look that up, its very simple and works well, you just cant leave the game and come back, if you do, you have to do it all over again, I had a controller mishap and paused the game went out to buy a new one, came back and realized I had to syn the controller, when I did I decided to back out of the game, and when I came back, my pass was revoked lol.
-
I also missed this the first time, BUT you can get back in. Just go there, try the door, it will be locked, walk away a little way, not far, and save game, then load the saved game, you will respawn down the road a little bit, just go back and the door is now unlocked. This worked for me on the first try. This also worked for the old lady and her sons where you get the shotgun and earings, the door doesnt lock, but the earings will re spawn eventually. Lump
