Hilde
I have turned off aim assistent when on foot. I don’t like the idea of being helped too much. But I have quite a hard time controlling the aim. If I am to aim at a guy I’m either super slow getting the “dot” on the target or I move the stick to much and the “dot” flies by the target. I’m mostly a Fifa player, so those fine controls/movements with ones left thumb, is really hard to master. Do I just need practice or do you all have a hard time with aim assist off? My aim is all over the place but I’m still having fun though, but getting headshots is pure luck when it happens.

Maybe use aim assist until you get better then turn it off, but until then keep your dead eye level up with chewing tobacco and that should help you. Poggy
You can also fiddle with some settings to help you. I'm a wuss, so I go for max assistance and slow movement.
Skysaw
I leave assist on, partly because my days of having good reflexes are about 30 years behind me. Usually I use it just to locate a target, or to quickly get my sights on them. Then I move the aim manually for a headshot, or engage dead-eye. Kean_1
R* games are one of the few that I leave aim assist on. I honestly cannot play GTAV without it. RDR2 seems to be a bit of a different story. Play with all the settings including the acceleration. I got mine to a point where the assist is set at its weakest but it gets me generally where I need to be and then I manually aim. I also can't handle not having it when hunting. .....makes it way more difficult than it needs to be in those cases especially when I am grinding for cash.
Skysaw
Thanks for reminding me about acceleration and other settings. I keep forgetting I need to play around with those.

I have to say that I have found RDR2 a little easier than GTAV or even RDR to manually aim. I think I'm going to do a second run through of the game in first person to see how that feels. .....I still have a long way to go though.
