NewsBot
I can already see that "Red Dead Redemption 2 Ships X Million Copies" is going to be one of those returning news posts similar to how things were with GTA 5. Just 2 weeks after launch, the game has already moved 17 million copies, and you can bet that those numbers will climb a great deal more before the year is out. In a note to investors, Take-Two Interactive - parent company of developer Rockstar Games - pointed out that the game surpassed the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption, which is 17 million, within 8 days. The game has, since release, generated over $725 million in revenue from what is called "retail sell-through" meaning that people actually bought the game, it wasn't just stocked by the store. Red Dead Redemption was a popular game for its time, but the industry and the market around it have changed significantly in almost a decade's time. Racking up 17 million sales in 8 days instead of 8 years is, though impressive, closer to the norm for releases of this magnitude. For comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 sold over 11 million copies within 24 hours of release, and 29 Million within 6 weeks. We'll see how Red Dead Redemption 2's sales fare in the long run. It had a strong launch, but ever since the game was announced analysts have been predicting overall lower performance than GTA 5 - even Take-Two doesn't expect it to outsell that behemoth, which has almost 100 million sales to date. Considering the huge hype and universal praise Red Dead Redemption 2 is being showered with, we're not surprised it's a popular title. This doesn't make this milestone any less impressive, of course, but everyone knew this will be a big seller. With the Holiday season only just warming up, most players who were interested in the game but didn't grab it at launch will likely do so before the year is out, which might boost sales. If the signs pointing to a PC version are true, whenever that is released sales will see another boost. gigemaggs99
I wonder if this is why Xbox Live has been struggling the last couple of nights? Millions of users downloading 100+ gigs has to be hard on their servers.
Poggy
They better fix quick those glitches, blurry visuals and missing dlc - that's a lot of potential complaining buyers.

Indeed. Hopefully, they can at least give us a confirmation that they are well aware of the issue and fixing it immediately.
