Replaying missions

Is there a way to save the guns and attiributres I acquire when I want to replay missions to try and get gold medals? Or am I stuck with the general weapons I got the first play through?

I've noticed that too. I think we are stuck with that. It's a "feature". It does seem to make things fairer with hit those mission achievements if everyone is using the same equipment. I think everyone's character stats; Health/Stamina/Deadeye are also the same values for a given replayed mission. But I'll have to check.

The above post is correct, BUT it also worth noting that when you replay a mission through the progress screen you go back in with a pre-determined amount of things NOT what you actually had at the time.

I had 99 chewing tobacco to help with Dead Eye on the replay I had precisely zero chewing tobacco. 

So now I make a manual save before each mission and reload that to get the gold rather than using the replay mission option or screen.

And that allows you to keep your weapons, stats, etc? Do u have a separate save for each one, or do you just overwrite and have one save file after you get gold? It would be nice to have dead eye when using the bow in the deer hunting mission in the bieginnung of the game as an example

That is a really solid way of doing it and a great tip. Glad you mentioned this cause I was going about this all the entirely wrong way. lol Thanks man!

So to make sure I understand correctly you have a save for each mission in a separate slot when you do a manual save? I had been doing just one  manual save and overwriting it but I don’t know if that would work to get golds or not-could you please clarify which way you do it?

I must be missing something, but what are you all talking about when you mention gold medals?

After you complete a mission you can pause the game and go down to either progress or story and pick the chapter you are on or have finished and hit square and that will show you the requirements to get a gold medal for each mission

No. 

 

Before eaxh mission i ion I save the game then do the mission. If I get gold or silver and don’t feel it’s worth redoing for gold then I just continue. 

If I think it’s worth retrying to get gold I do not hit the retry button I just reload my save and try again. That way I have all my tonics and chewing tobacco (I use a LOT of chewing tobacco). 

I keep reloading until I get the gold then carry on from there and delete the other save file.

Ok thanks for clarifying-so do you have auto save turned off then to do this?

No need to. 

Just make a manual save. After you reload the manual save and try again it will give you a message saying something like:

”A file with xxxx already exists in the autosave slot. Do you wish to overwrite this with the current data?”

if you got the gold you were after click yes, if not then click no. It will warm you that auto save is being disabled but click ok, then reload the manual save and try again. 

Mince you get the gold or give up trying, just remember to turn autosave back on!
