YodaMan 3D
I really started using cinematic mode to travel, Works great as long as you start on a road. If you start off road, well. You will off road and if your horse climbs a hill or mountain, he will keep going straight over the edge. By the way, has anyone rode over a mountain and just jumped over the side. Not working as intended is all I got to say.

If you just try to ride off the edge the horse stops, keep trying to make it and he eventually bucks you off. I've used cinematic mode numerous times without these issues. Never tried it near a cliff though, might have to get my old stupid horse from the stable missions and try riding off the cliff this way. Knowing my luck it would glitch out and kill my main horse. so maybe not.
redscrew
I was in this mode and it glitched me from up on a mountain to in water and my horse died and I did right after. I have no idea what happened but I haven't used cinematic mode since.

In cinematic, that horse knows no fear and over the side you go, all the way to the crash site.
Madrigalian
I've been using it with mostly success. If you plot your trip on the roads, it is safer for sure. Still, I have.. 1. Ran into another rider. (Had to kill him) 2. Been ambushed by bounty hunters along the road. (killed them too) 3. Ran into the pilings of a bridge and almost killed the horse and me. I find that it works very well with relaxing your hands while letting the horse take the reigns. You just can't leave it unattended. You never know when you'll have to jump out of cinematic mode to quickly respond to a random encounter or event. Otherwise, it's been fantastic.
