is it possible to get dutch warmblood caramello gold with john?

Not that I am aware of. I haven't figured a way anyhow. Someone else may have or might know more about it. I didn't put much effort into trying.

I  got Buelle as Arthur, when I completed missions with Hamish as a gift. When Arthur died, Buelle did too sadly. I loved that horse. 
You could try with John and see if that stranger mission spawns. But I'm thinking it will not spawn a second time. You would have to start a new game. Wait till you are playing as John then try.

You can get Buell with John, but if you complete those stranger missions with Arthur, they won't reappear.

It will spawn as John, I wish I had known this when I was playing my 3rd play through, I would have definitely saved this for John, although Hamish was a good friend for Arthur, but it happens so late that it is more tragic than healthy I think.

I saw a video where a person played this as John, so I know you can do it then you will have Buell for the remainder of the game.

Yeah, I picked up Buell in the Epilogue, and he's still (amazingly) alive.

That way, Hamish lived for six more years and Buell lives forever (well, until I get him killed).

i found another fun way to die and take out your horse last night by accident.  I stole an oil tank wagon, was riding it back to the fence, set my controller down to get a drink and the RT button got pushed, shot the horse in the ass, he kicked the wagon, wagon exploded killing me and my horse riding behind it.  DIdn't think of recording it, was laughing too hard.  

Seems like when you start another playthrough you go through all the noob button mistakes too.  I did record a clip of how stupid my horse is, target a guy to say Hi as you ride by, the camera turns making the horse turn (it was the camera i'm sure, not me holding the stick left to target the guy) and we face plant into a rock wall
