I read somewhere this upcoming season of Vikings is going to be the last.

Yep season 6 is it.  i read they had like 6 million viewers in the US in the first season and less than 1 million for season 5.  probably why they stopped with season 6, and i think the only reason they are doing 6 after a steady decline like that is they ordered the 6th season before the 5th was aired.

I actually have book 9 of the Saxon Tales (Warriors of the Storm) with me on vacation here in Hawaii at the moment, and am reading it a little bit here and there.  I've loved how they adapted it for the BBC/Netflix.

At least the production has advance knowledge to retool the season into a proper finale for the fans that are still there.

I, on the other hand, will never get any closure from Six and Whiskey Cavalier. 😭

Hope this double post is okay to restart discussion here. I won't make a habit of it, don't worry.

I just watched the infamous Red Wedding scene that supposedly appalled so many people for its alleged violence. I'm sorry, but that was tame as hell. Network TV stuff.

Well, that's cos it wasn't the violence that was so gut wrenching about that scene. Similarly Ned's Death wasn't shocking because he got beheaded. It was shocking as we wouldn't have expected that character to die. Similarly there wasn't much expectation that Robb would be killed, at least not in the manner that he was. Then there is also the in universe logic which dictated at the time that guest right should mean safety. The show addition of Tulisa being present also apparently heightened the drama.
