hunting requests, specifically a Robin

Has anyone actually located, shot and mailed a perfect Robin for the hunting challenge #3?

I have looked at all the spots they are supposed to be, around Brathwaite, south west of Valentine, west of Annesburg, etc... Ive never seen one!!

I have got the Oriole, woodpeckers, even a blue jay, but never, not ever a robin, I pretty much gave up.

Now that online is in limbo and I dont  have anything to do I figured I would go back and try to 100% my single player game, first thing I plan to do is complete the hunting challenges.

I am stuck on this Robin.

If you have actually got one, can you please tell me where and when you got it, ie time of day, weather, location, weapon, etc.. 

I cant find one and it is super discouraging.

I put in hours and hours by the way, I'm not lazy, not going to the boards without trying, I  have done everything I can think of, and I am giving up, I need help with this one.

I am 95.7% done.

It would be nice to get this part done, I want that prize and cut scene, then the combat challenges and bandit challenges but that is another story.

Go to the ford to the northwest of beaver hollow. Camp and stalk to the river bank at dawn. There’s usually a selection of birds sitting on the rocks there. You might need to save/reload a few times to get a robin to spawn.

Thanks, sadly ive done that and a millions other things in a hundred other places.

I did actually finally just see one, I went for my gun and accidentally hit "camp" 

Ever seen a grown man cry? lol I was about to.

I now know it is possible to get one, that is all I wanted, I will find another and get it, I was starting to lose it man, I mean in all this time to never see one was making me nuts.

thanks for your advice, the one I found wasnt far from that spot actually, a few clicks south. just north of the Elysian pool and almost across from the dino bone on the map if you got that one already.

you can get all the song birds in the grasslands west from emerald station.  Huge area, just keep your eye on the sky and ride back and forth zigzag across it from one end to the other.  Then you can cut over to the other side of the twin stacks in the grassy hills south of Valentine for more.

Sunny days are best.  they'll fly from sunrise to sunset basically.

I'd hunt in one spot all day, then camp and hunt the other spot the next day, camp, return to the first spot, repeat.

Thanks, I actually found two, after a hard core search, lol.

Found them by the way west of Annesberg near the river, sitting on a rock, this was the only time I ever saw one, and as I said I saw two in time, both on top of a rock, but I did find one eventually so...

Thanks for your info, it was getting super frustrating feeling like maybe there just isnt one, I mean I was looking and pretty determined, but eventually I did find one.

It seems to me when you need to find something for a challenge, they program it for those things to be really hard to find. I know I would see Cedar Waxwings in groups flying over me every few minutes in certain areas. When I needed to get one, none to be found. Took me about an hour of real time to finally find one.

So, ok I found the Robin, finished the request got the next one, finished that one quickly, mailed it, now I am stuck, where it says hunting requests, it shows all the boxes checked and mailed, but I havent gotten a letter or invite, I got a reward, 120$ and that was it, what do I have to do to trigger the invitation?

that's total BS.  it just seems that way.  i had the same issue with owls.

There's a glitch they supposedly fixed that won't let the next request happen if you have animals in your bag that are needed for that request.  if you save regularly go back to the save before you turned in the request, make sure you don't have any animals that are needed for the next, then turn it in.

That or wait a couple days in game to see if comes in.

What's BS? That I couldn't find any for about an hour in the areas where they are normally all over the place? I just used the waxwings as an example but I had the same issue with many animals when I needed them.

The BS is that they program the game to reduce the animal spawn when you get a mission for X animal.
