Can’t open treasure maps in RDR2 online

Ok I’ve got many treasure maps but I can’t open. “You can not use (open?) a treasure map at this time”. Why not?

I had this issue as well.

Check your map for any yellow discovery points.  I realized I still had items that I had to collect from what I believe was the collector role or something similar along those lines.  Once that was completed, they disappeared and then I was able to open a treasure map from my satchel.

The only thing I can think of is maybe if you are trying to open them while in some kind of mission... or somehow your trying to open them wrong?

Now that I think of it.... I had some yellow spots from the collector for ages before I got around to it... I never tried to open a treasure map in that time though (I have since without issue).

Same here.....  I had kept joining other friend's sessions so I totally lost track of where I was on those other roles.  ....we usually did bounties and/or other people's tasks.  

It wasn't until I joined my own solo session for the sole purpose of locating some of these treasures I've been hoarding away that I had the same problem.

Yup. Had to either finish a collection map, in this case wild flowers, or deactivate the collection map. Now I’m able to open a treasure map. Thanks.

Oddly, opening a collector map will close an open treasure map, even if you haven't yet found the treasure, but it doesn't work the other way around.

I have also had a handful of collector maps recently only give me two items, rather than the usual three.  That Nazar is guilty of sharp practice.
