the evans repeater

i watched a youtube video of someone buying an evans repeater from the gunsmith in rhodes during chapter 3. so i went to that gunsmith (i'm also in chapter 3) to check it out but for me the evans repeater does not appear, onlo the carbine and the lancaster, which i already have, and the litchfield which i can't buy yet, but no evans repeater.

whats going on? was that added in a newer version? is there some requirement that i haven't met yet? something weird going on?

It's mission-dependent, or so I read.

"In Red Dead Redemption 2, The Evans Repeater can be purchased from any gunsmith after the mission "An Honest Mistake" in Chapter 3. "

This weapon was released into console editions of the game from last year's story mode patch.  I've not replayed the game after the patch, so I can't personally confirm this is the case.

I'm in chapter 4 and have never seen it available. It's probably been a bit since I checked though. I'll look Friday night.

it was added in a patch? no wonder i cant buy it, i use the version i installed from the disks.

Yes, it was patched in.

I saw that it was available now and it looks cool, but the stats on it don't look any better than the carbine repeater.

The Litchfield is still locked though. Anyone know how to unlock or get that one?

The Litchfield is unlocked after the Chapter 6 mission "Mrs Sadie Adler, Widow - II." Though you can get a free one right at the beginning of said mission, just look on the ground in the camp where it starts.
