Zevick
Believe you me I am incredibly excited for this game. Everything about it looks like it will be near perfect, and I will play the hell out of it no matter what. However my question is this. They are OBVIOUSLY going for the most immersion as possible. I don't just want to play this game, I personally want to live in it. I want to live and breathe red dead I want to be Arthur Morgan, or for that matter be me as Arthur Morgan in an alternate universe it really depends on how you look at it, it also doesn't take more than first person for you to seperate that this is another character and become you playing this game. When you have crossed the line of it is now you in the game you enter another realm of game playing, and first person is all it takes for this to happen. Every thing is detailed, and they are literally sculpting out every small detail, and that's the key, it's in the small details. Such as the footprints in the snow from your horse, the prancing done by your horse in the game-play trailer, animal carcasses on back of horse, the bullet holes in Arthur's jacket, the atmosphere, everything has been handcrafted to be as believable as possible etc. I can go on and on with the small details in this game that enhance immersion. 3rd person is great and all, but if they are truly going for the most believable, immersive gaming experience, surely first person as an option would only greatly enhance things? I want to live in this world, and first person will do that for me personally. It looks like they've already nailed the 3rd person animations, so who's to say they haven't also hammered out first person animations. Do you think that first person will be in this game at launch or afterward? They didn't show it here but that does not mean that it is not in the game. P.S For those that want to bitch and complain how they don't want first person in this game, please keep in mind if it is it's only an additional option. No one is forcing you to use it and more options doesn't make the game worse, I know there are many who are for it and many who don't care and just as many against it, but please keep this in mind. Thank you, please don't flame me. Edited August 9, 2018 by Zevick

Thank you, please don't flame me. I think it's unlikely to be a feature at launch as it's not something they usually do, but you never know, they may add an option in the menu for true immersion! I personally enjoy playing third person and seeing the character's movements and how they interact with the world. I am more used to that play style. I am beyond excited now after that gameplay trailer - it blew me away. I'll be watching it 100 more times and making my parents watch it! Do you know when the next one will be released? Maybe it'd be mentioned in that one if it's a possibility.

We BOTH love Star Wars Battlefront II because you can TOGGLE between first and third person views. I hope they do the same here. That way, we can all play the game the way we'll best enjoy it. Kean_1
I would love to have the option and I want to say that R* is the kind of developer that learns from past experiences and builds on that. ....because they do. However, this is one feature I'm not so sure how they will view. On one hand, I think it's a no brainer given that it was an option in GTAV that many folks wanted. It was also done in a way that (I thought) worked quite well. It gave a different perspective to driving and other activities. On the other hand, R* may feel RDR is a TPV game at heart and the story , experience is best told through that perspective. This is one aspect I'm just not sure how they're going to go. GatoNegro
Having the option for at least when you are on horseback is fine with me. I like to see my character otherwise be it, Arthur or my online guy. If it isn't an option, with everything that they have given us... I really won't be complaining about it.
