Factions in RDR Online

Haven’t seen a thread on this made yet.

I think it would be pretty cool if in RDR2 online if there was factions where players can have a role each to do around the world, to make interactions with other players a lot more fun and realistic. Roles could vary from Lawmen, Outlaws, Bounty Hunters, Normal Hunters and so on.

What does everyone think about this?

I think its an interesting idea. Are spoils shared amongst the camp or posses?

If so, an entirely too large idea is this:

A couple farmers, a couple hunters, a couple fisherman, a couple traders, a couple bounty hunters and a couple keeping the peace around the ranch, and a couple train robbers. speaking of, customizable ranches. The posse can build it up, raise livestock, train the horses, or build on the land.

Obvioisly that involves an almost No Man's Sky level of customization which won't happen in this game, but maybe consider it for the future.

For now, it would be cool to have some ranchers in the group, helping to train the horses to get them ready for jobs.

One possible issue is if a lawman is in your posse, and you are a train robber, there is a conflict created amongst your own group. The lawman not making arrest affects his position with the townsfolk and other officers.

I am also apprehensive of taking one job and falling into being stuck in one area of the world. Although I wouldn't mind being a barkeep at a saloon and hearing amazing stories while watching duels.

Yeah, I agree, I thought it would be cool to see a role-playing type feature to feel more involved within the world when playing online.

I agree with that. It also helps a player to stay in and develop a character. From the silent gunslingers seeking vengeance to the brothel whores to the one-liner, anecdote telling saloon keepers, everyone plays their role.

Whether we relate to specific movies or characters , we can incorporate these characters and stories via gameplay.

That I think makes this an awesome idea and helps create bonds.

It seems to be a key feature in the story that you work with your gang and this includes supplying items, food, medicine, and more so if they carry this to the online side, I could see it being pretty cool. I would worry though that they might get too carried away with it.

This makes me think, what their alternative would be to releasing content to the online mode on a regular basis.

Whatever they do, I don't want it to become an oversaturated mess of useless things. I want it to be a balance. Given that we may be able to assign gang members different roles online, I could see them releasing items for your specific role and this can end up being a bit much.

If we can only use certain guns or knives, even horses according to what role we play in the gang, I likely won't bother with online.
